The property is lovely and we were fortunate enough to experience a backyard concert by Hattie Craven on our last night there. It was a magical experience to sit outside with music in an enchanted forest as the setting. The owners, Julie & Dan were so helpful with any needs we had and so hospitable...felt like we stepped back in time when customer service really meant taking care of your customers every needs...we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful stay...and to top it off, it was my husband's birthday and when we got back from his birthday dinner, Julie had baked a homemade cake for us...how sweet is that! If we ever return, this is where we will stay. The personable service, friendliness of not only Julie & Dan, but any staff member was such a joy. The owners have always been very accommodating, friendly and are kind. It is a very rustic building with a lot of history behind it. This is a beautiful B&B and we love it and the ambiance here. The food that was prepared for us was outstanding and top notch. Desserts were superb and I am not a dessert person at all. The town of McCloud is also very quaint & rich in history. There is lots to do in the area such as McCloud falls (all three of them) and much more. My wife and I definitely recommend the McCloud River B&B. Go and enjoy as we have done now several times.

Cindy opened the Guest House to us and it was amazing. We spent every evening on the porch looking at Mt Shasta, smelling the pines and one evening watching a bear lumber down the driveway. Breakfast was served at the McCloud Hotel. We placed our order the night before and the meals were made to order, on time, a perfect portion and very delicious. Sight seeing, around the area, was really fun. We fished, played golf at the McCloud golf course, swam in the river, took drives and saw where family had lived. Cindy has pleasant staff and we enjoyed chatting with Nicole. This is an out of the way and beautiful part of California. I strongly suggest the Guest House or the McCloud Hotel.

They allow pets in certain rooms which is nice if you're traveling with dogs! I enjoyed how communicative the staff were. If you needed something, you can text a number and they were on it! They advertise that you may not have service here, but we had service and they also had wifi. They had great views outside on the deck. The grounds were nicely maintained. It was very easy to get here and right off highway 5. On the other hand, being a bed and breakfast I was expecting breakfast to be a bit better tasting. Breakfast is included in your stay. They provide fruit, yogurt, granola, juice, coffee, and toast. You get to also choose one main entree served with a side of potatoes. The main entree rotates so it's different daily. Overall breakfast could definitely be improved taste wise, but it's very convenient and nice of them to do this. Another downfall was the temperature in the main lobby/ dining area. They ran it hot in there and if you needed to get ice (they don't have ice machines, so they provide buckets of ice) it was all melted. This happened twice. Minor complaints!

They send you the directions and room access code so you can go directly to your room. The layout is like a big house with a coming hallway in the center to access the dining and sitting area. But you can also access your room from the outside of the building, which was so much easier. We stayed in the HUMMINGBIRD. The layout is a little peculiar but we wanted a king bed and this was the only room available last minute. There are two big, floor to ceiling French doors on each side of the room that looked out into the courtyard. Although the view was beautiful, it was like you were on display to anyone walking from their car to their room, so we kept the curtains closed for privacy. The room had a king bed with very nice sheets and comfortable pillows. A fireplace with a TV in the center of the room. There was a table set up for 4 and a wet bar, with microwave and small refrigerator in the center of the room in front of the fireplace and TV. A sofa and two sitting chairs were at the opposite side of the long rectangular room. Again just a peculiar setup. We did a little room rearranging while we were there so we could enjoy the fireplace while laying in bed. The bathroom was amazing and included a large jacuzzi tub and huge walk-in shower. The staff was very polite and provided very thorough room and area information, including local attractions and recommended restaurants in the area. At night you fill out a breakfast menu and in the morning they bring you your breakfast in a basket. The presentation is amazing! Menu items changed daily. They also provided 24/7 coffee and tea in the lobby. The price for the room was fair and everything was super clean! We really did enjoy our stay. Definitely recommend. *Side note for the HUMMINGBIRD room. It would make more sense to have a small room modification by moving the wet bar next to the bathroom wall. Setting the bed in front of the fireplace so the TV is in front of the bed and not off to the side. OR.. have the sofa in front of the TV and fireplace. I know it's a weird shaped room, but my personal opinion is that it can be set up different to have a better flow. Regardless we still enjoyed the stay but just my two cents in that.

I was so happy with my bed and breakfast experience that I definitely will trust my fellow reviewers in the future. First, Janelle was super accommodating and let me check in early because I would be attending the wedding and needed to get ready. She followed up with me on text message as to my arrival time to make sure that she would be there to greet me. When I walked in, I noticed my phone number was coded to the key pad entrance to the B&B. So cool! Janelle was there to greet me and give me an envelope with my key and instructions. I went up with her to the bedroom and needless to say, was so impressed with her style and quality that she brings to her B&B. The room seemed to be flawless in the way that she spent time picking out pictures and linens. The linens were even washed in a very nice fabric softener and didn't have that normal "hotel" smell. I was able to get the Sun Dial Room, and even though it was the most expensive, it was definitely worth every penny. There was a fresh, large bottle of water in the room with chocolates. I had free wifi and a nice flat screen TV. A jacuzzi tub. And oh, did I mention.. the best, most comfortable bed that I never wanted to leave? Top it off.. breakfast in the morning makes me giddy just thinking about it. I had french toast, a vegetable frittata, potatoes, chicken/apple sausage, fresh juice and coffee. Janelle served breakfast promptly at 8:30 and I was definitely there with bells on. Everything was served family style and while eating breakfast you are able to enjoy the company of other guests, which makes breakfast that much more entertaining. For a few bucks more, stay at this bed and breakfast. Completely avoid the Howard Johnson or other chain hotel. You will not be disappointed.

Both Connie and Rick were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and certainly would stay here again whether we were traveling through or staying in the area for several days.

My friends would say, "Sure, stay here when you're in town. Not a problem at all. We have a guest room, and a really nice backyard. Oh, you're bringing your bicycle(s) too? That's fine; we have a garage where you can keep them safe and dry." What would probably happen next is that we'd avail ourselves of all of this hospitality: my friends would cook us eggs for breakfast, give us glasses of wine in the evening, and let us go about our business in between the breakfast and the wine. And then, not ready to say goodbye to the weekend yet, we would probably go off on a long hike and not come back to collect our bicycles until nigh dark. When we finally made it back, my friends would be worried about us and would have already called around to try to find out whether we were okay. All in all, quite nice. It's good to have old friends in Redding.

In that search I located this lodge. I was kind of leery as I thought it might have been on a main road. Well, it's not! It's on a side street off the main roadway. We booked cabin #7. Cabin #7 faces the roadway where the parking lot is. Believe it or not, we could not hear people in the parking lot. Cabin #7 is two floors. On the first floor there is the only bathroom, a small kitchenette area, and a king bed. Upstairs there are two extremely comfortable queen beds! Literally the most comfortable bed I've slept in! The only draw back was the people sharing the adjacent wall. I believe their stairs are located where ours were in the cabin because we could hear them running up and down it all night. Once they went to bed it wasn't an issue. This Lodge is a self check in and out which was nice! Easy to do! The lodge is close to everything! McCloud Lake was fun for kayaking and McCloud Falls were right up the roadway. Highly recommend breakfast at White Mountain Cafe and dinner at Axe & Rose Brew house. We will be coming back and staying here again.

We stayed in Cabin #5 for 4 days and 3 nights. On our first day, the room was clean for the most…read morepart except for the toilet paper having small brown streaks on it... Chose not to report it to the owner as it was a minor issue. On the second day, we were in the room around 5:30 PM and noticed our door knob moving. We checked the window and noticed it was a shirtless man trying to open our door. We loudly said, "excuse me what are you doing?" and the man walked away. We texted the owner about this incident and asked if they could have this checked out. The owner responded by saying, "It was very likely another guest confused at which cabin was his. The area around the lodge is extremely safe." No indication that they took the time to review camera footage or checked out the area. We later confirmed ourselves that the man was a guest in the room next to us as he was outside next to his room. Later that same day, we were about to leave the room again and noticed that a key was placed on the #5 outside our door. We checked the key and confirmed that it works to unlock and lock our door. We were never informed that another key would be placed outside our door and we do not know how long it was sitting there. Anyone could have saw the key and used it to open our cabin. We immediately notified the owner and their response was that their staff was onsite to service other cabins and may have grabbed an extra key to our cabin. Owner didn't seem to care that an extra key was available to anyone who walked by our cabin. We expressed that we were concerned for our safety, but the owner didn't show that they cared about an extra key just lying around for anyone to grab.
