I'm not sure what I expected but Motel Trinity was a pleasant surprise. Yes, it's dated but it's also super cozy. The room had a microwave, coffee maker, and a fridge. The bed was comfy, and the staff (owner?) didn't mad dog us when we woke her up to check in at 2am. She didn't even screw us on the price and I think $60 is a great deal for a motel in BFE at 0 dark thirty when your ride into town is a Tow truck....(awesome review on Alps to be posted shortly!). Moral of the story: You get what you pay for and this is on the nicer end for a $60 room. OH! Go to Suzie's Bakery if you stay here-it's right next door and sooooo good. read more

We found this place late at night. Expected to be charged a fortune but was very reasonable at $90 for a king bed. Nothing over the top but exactly what we needed for a good night's sleep. If we got in here earlier it looks like there's a pretty nice pool as well. For it being the only game in town... not too shabby. read more

This is one of my favorite unexpected stays. While on our road trip heading north, we had car trouble and had to stay overnight in the town of Weaverville, which we had not planned on. We settled for this tiny place, not expecting much but a low price. While entering our room, it was quite dark and had a log cabin feel to it. I laid down on a bed and that was it! I never wanted to get up! It was the most comfortable bed I had slept on in a long time. Way more comfy than beds I've slept on in high class hotels! The couple who owned the place were very friendly and accommodating. Right next door is a great bakery, which I reviewed as well. Susie's Bakery had great apple fritters! We woke up at 5am one morning just to try the fresh donuts that were recommended by owner of the motel. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the bathroom was quite small and had a very tiny shower with no tub. However they do have some newer rooms with large jacuzzi tubs. If I'm ever in Weaverville, I will stay again just to sleep in that bed and get yummy donuts in the morning! read more

The complaints about the bed bugs are real. I was lying down in my room when all of the sudden I heard two guys in the room next to me start yelling "look like there's another one!" It was so bad that they eventually decided to leave (at 1 AM!) to find another place to stay. And these folks didn't come across as some prissy suburbanites, they seemed like your regular working class joes that don't scare very easily. But even for them it was too much. I got worried myself so I went to my car, got a sleeping bag, and slept on the gross floor the rest of the night (still better than waking up itchy and covered in bites!) If you're looking for a low-cost hotel in Weaverville, this is a reasonable place and the owners are very nice. However, the rooms are a dive so make sure your expectations are set correctly. The rooms feature a bed, a TV, micro, mini-fridge, coffee maker, and free Wi-Fi. Now, the bed is comfortable but the sheets are not so clean. The TV is a small (17"?) CRT TV that perches on the fridge. The antique mini-fridge I had must have died the night I slept there because in the morning, my beers felt like they'd just endured an 8 hour hot-yoga class. The coffee maker is a whopping 12-cup gizmo but they only provide a single-cup serving packet (fortunately I had a pound of Peet's in the car and was able to fully replenish my thermos before fishing). The Wi-Fi requires a 16-character login name and 16-character password, both aLpha*nUmEr1c derived from a random-number-generator and printed somewhat illegibly on the room receipt. Each session requires re-entering all of the codes, which may be OK for a laptop session but is entirely inconvenient to re-enter every time a smartphone goes to sleep. The room heater doesn't have a temperature setting so if you turn it to high and fall asleep, you will awake in a sauna. Fortunately the bathroom will offer respite from the heat with its frigid tile floor and questionable insulation from the outside. Putting a towel on the floor alleviates the problem. The shower works great but bring your own shampoo, they only provide a mini-bar of soap. If this sounds negative, it's not. You just have to walk in with the right expectations. It's not the 4 Seasons (heck, it's not even Motel 8). If you're looking for more luxurious accommodations, there are nicer hotels in town. read more

Okay, maybe there are other rooms in this hotel and that look like a log cabin because this place does not look like one at all. Yes, the lady at the desk (I think the owner) is very nice and sweet but even for a cheap motel in a small town, I've been to many better ones. We get our share of cheap motels in the CA country and mountain side, as we attend mountain bike races and do a lot of hiking, thus I feel fair saying that Motel Trinity is not so good. The room has a strong musty smell; the sheets are my biggest complaint because they are old, have holes, are so worn out that are transparent, and are stained. It just looks like they don't wash them with good soap or they are so old and stained... But no, I know you can get sheets to return to their white after a good wash, so I'll stop giving them the benefit of the doubt. We even asked for a fresh set and they were the same. We also found hair on both sets, and a bloody stain on the pillow case and near the feet. The shower curtain is dirty, the plastic non-slip mat to put in the tub is literally disgusting - what is it for? It's dirty with black and brown dirt stains... Please just toss it... why is it there in those conditions?! I gave it two stars versus one just because they were nice, th large tv works, as well as all the lights and the door locks. Anyway, I wish we stayed somewhere else. Yuk. read more

This is a great little motel in Weaverville - the bro and I stopped here for a night on our way to a 3-day backpacking adventure in the Trinity Alps. The Indian couple who own the place were really helpful and sweet, allowing us an early-check-in and unlocking our door the (two) times we got locked out. This isn't a standard motel room at all - it's more like a rustic log cabin. Pets welcome for no additional charge. Bottom line: everything's clean and the shower's hot, and that's what we like as we plan to depart into the wilderness. read more

This place is surprisingly comfortable and very welcoming. No it's not fancy, but go in with reasonable expectations and they will be met. We booked a room last minute on a Saturday night and everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. We got a basic room for $60 that had a large and very comfortable bed, mini fridge, microwave, TV and small desk. The bathroom was small but had nice tile floors and a decent shower. They don't provide shampoo, just bar soap, so bring your own. They also offer "spa" rooms with jacuzzi tubs. Only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is the lack of Internet. We couldn't connect to their wi-fi at all. Overall this is a great place considering the price and convenience. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the bakery next door since it's closed on Sundays, but we will definitely be back. read more

We live in Santa Rosa and knew we would be visiting the area frequently after my father-in-law passed away end of December as he lived in Del Loma and had much to clean out. The first room we had was great and have requested it every other weekend since. It's roomy, clean, comfortable, and cozy. The owner even called me by name this weekend. This motel is super cute, the people at the front desk are really nice. The room is old fashioned and some things are dated but it has charm. We read the other reviews about bed bugs and were worried, but we talked to a nice lady who had been a regular and she said they had fumigated the places few months back, and she hadn't seen any bugs or had any bites. We talked to another guest and they said the same thing. We woke up and didn't have any bites and no sign of any bugs, so I think it's all clear as of June 2020. There were a few stains on the sheets but nothing terrible. No shampoo or conditioner so make sure you bring some! They have a super cute pool area and barbecue and lawn area, and a coin operated laundry room. Really cozy and chill, and affordable. We would definitely stay here again! read more

The nice lady who commented previously, giving this place such a low rating, is, with all due respect, out of her mind. The Indian couple who own this motel was extremely accommodating and helpful. The prices were extraordinarily good, as the motel offered numerous amenities, and furthermore, the rooms, beds, bathrooms, etc. were all immaculate. The place itself is really cozy, and has a nice, warm feeling to it. I am completely satisfied with the service I received here, and fully recommend this place to anyone in the area. This is not a Best Western/Comfort Inn motel nor is it a disgusting dirty dump. It's a clean and INEXPENSIVE motel. WIFI is a bit weird and TVs are old and some stations are snowy. We wanted a place to stay the night without paying an arm snd leg. The swimming pool was a great relief after driving all day in 90+ temps. It's old and tiny and all that. But all we wanted was a cheap place to spend the night. We've walked out of motels that were dirty and disgusting and this was no way like that. read more

Disregard the bad reviews of this place...some people just don't know a great deal when they see one. Obviously this place isn't a 5 star hotel...it's a motel. Motel Trinity is disgusting! My husband and I were visiting over the fourth of July weekend 2012. My parents booked a room with 2 beds for us all to share. When my husband and I finally got to town my parents were already at Lowden Park enjoying the 4th of July festivities. My mom had left the key under the mat for us. We let ourselves in and immediately the phone started ringing. My husband answered and the voice on the other end asked, "Are you staying here?" My husband replied yes and she said, "You need to come to the office!" and hung up. So rude! I went to the office and the lady immediately started grilling me. "How many people are staying in that room?" I replied 4 - me, my husband and my parents. She carried on to say she say some other people in the room that day. I calmly stated that my sister and her friend picked up my parents earlier and that is probably who she saw. She then went on to say that each room can only have 1 car in the parking lot so one of our cars needed to be moved. I said ok. She was totally rude about everything and finally after realizing I wasn't the devil she started to be nice toward the end of the conversation. However, she had already left a bad taste in my mouth and I wasn't impressed. Upon entering, the room felt dark and dirty. Kind of like they haven't been cleaned in years. I figured we were only there for the night and I didn't expect even a 3 star hotel so I ignored it. However, we refused to walk around barefoot and both kept our socks on. My husband and I got back to the motel around 1:30 am and were preparing for bed. We always take the top cover off beds at motels/hotels like this (as we assume they are probably rarely cleaned), and after doing so we noticed the blanked underneath had what looked like cigarette burns all over it and random stains. It looked so dingy and disgusting we decided to sleep without it as well. Well, this is where it gets bad. Now we are down to the sheets and even those look dirty! They had stains all over....and human hair and crumbs? I was so disgusted. I couldn't help but to think that these sheets had not been washed from the last guests who occupied the room. I was almost in tears. Lucky for my husband that he had had a few drinks that evening so he was a bit more relaxed than me! I was so reluctant to get in the bed assuming I'd wake up with a rash, bed bug bites or worse. We got in anyway considering we had nowhere else to go at 1:30 in the morning but neither of us moved a bit once we were in (in an attempt to minimize our exposure to more of the bed/sheet surface). My husband also slept with his socks on (which he never does). We both slept terribly that night. I couldn't wait for it to be morning just so I could get out of there! SO GROSS! If you are going to stay in Weaverville during a holiday like the 4th of July or for graduation or anything, my advice is to book early and anywhere else in town except for here! Not only is it gross, but they jack up their rates during busy season. I think my parents paid a hundred dollars for the night. So not only was it a terrible experience but we were thoroughly ripped off! read more

Worst place I have ever stayed! We checked in sort of late so we did not do our normal inspection. At first light in the morning I heard my wife shriek "OH NO!" . On the upper sheet witch we had just slept under was an approximately 4" fresh blood stain with specs of scab it. Most horrific thing ever. When I informed the owner she had very little concern and said the best she could do was take 8 dollars off the bill. Not the right way to handle this at all. They did not even take the 8 dollars off the bill when the charge went through the bank. How could they subject people to this kind of bio-hazard? Stay far away from this place! read more

The Motel Trinity is what it is: a resurrected strip motel of the 50s/60s that offers clean rooms, comfortable beds, working AC, morning coffee and free wi-fi. I spend a lot of time taking Adventuring Touring trips on my motorcycle spending nights in towns well off the beaten path where chain motels are as rare as hen's teeth and the Trinity deserves a 4/5 star rating in this classification. In fact, there are many a town where I've stayed in a major chain motel that I would have loved to known of a place like the Trinity Motel so I could have saved money rather than pay for an overpriced room. read more
