Fin Peach! Good…read moremusic, great vibes and that secret treasure chest/discover LA/ 818 great life. Kulak's Woodshed is a live music event venue, video recording and private music recording space. It's limited capacity, intimate and thoughtful. Brought to life by Paul Kulak, a local indie thoughtful big in stature and heart man whose love of music, sound and visuals brought this space in to existence at the tail end of the 1990s. A space for musicians to thrive, from grammy winners to new to expressing their gifts. I've passed the Woodshed many times in my 15 years in the SFV, but only recently started to enjoy it including their live webcasts and concerts via Facebook Live. Offering greatness on Laurel Canyon between Magnolia Blvd/Weddington Street, mere steps aways from my favorite local art supply store Carter Sexton. It's in a of creativity, expression and artistic joy. Check out their Mondays, musicians can sign up by 7pm for Singer/Songwriter Open Mic. Mostly supported by Paul's hard work, incredible volunteers and audience donations. It's an all welcoming, all ages, all genres and styles of music space. Beverages, snacks and conversations are all self served. Pet friendly environment, but good to be mindful others especially with allergies. Street parking is your friend, though if you don't mind a stroll parking a little further can be easier especially at night, rideshare or even metro as it's less than half a mile from the nearest station. They do not allow any alcohol, recreational or hard substances inside. It's indie, it's music, it's Kulak's Woodshed.

A rustic~eclectic joint hidden in between shops on Laurel Canyon, unassuming yet filled with love, laughter, song and MUSIC! My kinda place...And YES, they do charge a cover because this place needs money to keep musicians playing and their doors to remain open. It's not a big cover charge so not sure why anyone would complain about supporting local talent...just sayin... Bookmarked this place a while ago and was so happy to check it off my list a few weeks ago when I went to hear "The Eldermen" play here. I loved the decor. A mash up of bar stools, stadium seats, sofa's and a Queen size bed...yes, a queen size bed! Stage is smack dab in the middle with a pretty good view from all surrounding seats. *Snacks, drinks, and restroom are located back of house. *Check the website or insta for events calendar *Street Parking only

Maui Sugar Mill is exactly what I think of when someone says 'local watering hole' or 'dive bar'…read more Lanny and the crew are amazing, great bartenders and conversation starters. This used to be my spot! If you like live music, be sure to check out their blues night. Get there EARLY! Camp out at the bar and save your seat because it's about to be standing room only. You can reserve a table in advance. If you miss a live music night, just purchase some points for the jukebox. Smoking section outside, no food, but feel free to bring your own. There's pizza, sushi, and sandwiches in the same plaza, so you're set! A staple of the valley! If you go, order a Dark and Stormy for me!

Most people contribute to a pot luck feast that spans the wide world of food, from hot dogs and chili to baked ziti, tacos, meatballs, fried chicken, Chinese food, and on and on -- including some amazing homemade clam chowder from Mike The Mailman. Bartender Natalie did an amazing job of handling the busy crowd with speed and smiles. There were a couple of other staffers on site to watch the game, and they jumped in when she needed a hand with this or that, but for the most part Natalie captained the bar single-handedly for the duration. Kudos to her. It's true, Super Bowl only comes once a year, so other game days don't have the pot luck feast -- Sugar Mill doesn't have a kitchen, though they're happy to have you bring in whatever food you like and eat it there. Food aside, the crowd and the service are always just what you want, making it the perfect place to relax into at game time as Basketball enters the home stretch and baseball steps up to bat.

It is a great intimate venue with lots of history and great sound. We parked about a half mile away and a public lot by the West Hollywood library, parking was only 12 bucks and it was a nice short walk to the venue and no traffic getting g out when we left the show. The event was sold out, and we got there right when doors opened. The line out front was not too long and security kept everybody moving really quick. Full bar and food inside. The main room is tiny, so anywhere you stand you will have a great view of the performers. I definitely plan to come back to see another show here, wish I had caught shows here in the past... While a lot of people think it is right on Sunset Boulevard, the club is actually located just down the street on Santa Monica Boulevard. The history in this room is incredible, dating all the way back to 1957 when it first opened. It is wild to stand in the same small, intimate space where Elton John made his US debut and once massive bands like Guns N' Roses got their start. Catching any set here always feels super special and up-close.

Comes with the added modern convenience of paying online as needed. We arrived about 10 minutes before the 8:30pm start time, so the line had steadily been moving in. Dimly lit space, crowded floors, restrooms on the left, merchandise for sale on the right, and a bar serving drinks at the back. A few nights ago, Joanna Wang held a concert here, the fourth stop of her North American tour. The show started right on the dot with no opening acts which was much appreciated. The first set ran through her latest album, "Hotel la Rut" which combined productions of strange, disturbing, moody unpredicability with moments of seemingly whimsical levity and repressed emotions. One after the other, it felt like listening to tracks of a musical. As is often stated comparing to the studio recordings, the live performances added charm and context to the machinations of her mind's inner workings. It helped that the sound quality here was remarkably vibrant, with the band going between genres seamlessly. Personally enjoyed "Pigeons on Your Balcony", "People Don't Eat Dinner by Themselves", and "Ragged Stairs to Heaven". Promptly afterwards, the second set contained a selection of past songs from her almost two decade long career, ranging from creative compositions to inventive covers. It was a full-on display of her vocal range and inspirations through the years. Some memorable ones included "Alice in Wonderland", "親密愛人", "Radio Killed the Radio Star", and "Simply Nothing You Can Do", with "Vincent" as her encore performance. It was a good time, as I found myself smiling at her showmanship going from soulful nostalgia to nutty, irrepressible energy. Here's hoping she performs around here more often.
