I've been training at TAC for over a year now, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I've taken both the commercial and breakthrough intensives, as well as their ongoing scene study program. Every class I've attended has been completely worth my time and money. The instructors are excellent, and the vibe of the place is flawless. I feel emotionally and physically safe here, and have become a better performer under their tutelage. It's a wonderful community in a nice space, which also offers practical career coaching. You will get to perform in some capacity every class, without draining critiques. All the drama stays on the stage where it belongs. read more

I've been attending The Acting Center in Sherman Oaks for over a year and a half now, and I've got to say, it's truly something special. It's located right on Ventura Boulevard with its own parking (which is a big plus in L.A.), and the class sizes are just right--not too big, not too small. Tuesdays and Thursdays Scene Class helped me a lot more efficiently to discove my character in auditions. Plus people in the class are all auper talented working actors. What really makes it stand out is the instructors. They're working actors--people with real experience in the industry--and you feel that in every class. The approach they use? I like to call it "Stanislavski on steroids." They've developed their own method, and as someone who's trained in traditional Stanislavski, I can tell you it's faster, sharper, and incredibly efficient. If you're serious about honing your craft, give this place a shot--you won't be disappointed. Every one from the staff to the fellow class mates are so welcoming. Lastly, this school is always checking on us if we weren't booking anything for sometimes to help and guide us. Every time you will actually book something they like to share it on their special wall as well as Instagram stories. Bcz your success is their success. read more

If you are serious in developing your craft as an actor TAC (The Acting Center) is the path you must take. Los Angeles is filled with schools but none will give you what TAC helps you to develop in yourself as an artist. All staff are working-acting teachers who truly provide guidance and support with strategies and tools that you apply to your class performances, your auditions and your bookings. I have learned so much in a very short period of time, and feel incredibly fortunate to have found them. What I find most valuable is that I can see and feel my improvement, and its a direct result of the tools and strategies TAC provides. They give something here you didn't even know you needed, then you get it. And you get it fast. Do yourself a favor as an artist...take a class with TAC. A definite quality value for your hard earned cash and a valuable use of your finite time. read more

If you're serious about acting and want results, not just theory, The Acting Center is the place. I came in with zero acting experience. No background. No reps. No credits. Since training here, I just booked a lead role in a pilot. That's not hype. That's the result. What makes this place different is simple. It's a system. You are not guessing. You are not waiting for approval. You are not dependent on a teacher to tell you if you're "good." You learn a repeatable process that you can execute on demand. Every class: You work You apply You build skill, not just confidence There's structure behind everything: How to break down a script How to make strong, specific choices How to stay present without losing control How to deliver consistently in auditions and on set It's practical. It translates directly to booking work. The instructors at The Acting Center are working professionals who understand what casting actually responds to. They don't just teach acting, they teach how to function at a high level in real situations. What stood out to me most: You develop independence as an actor You stop overthinking and start executing You build a clear process you can trust under pressure Before this, acting felt abstract. Now it feels like a craft I can control. If you're new, this gives you a real foundation fast. If you've trained before, this fills the gaps most studios miss. Bottom line: If your goal is to actually book, grow, and perform at a high level, this is the most efficient path I've seen. I went from zero experience to booking a lead role. That speaks for itself. read more

I had taken a step back from acting for a very long time. I didn't know if I would ever get back into class. I had spent a large amount of my young adulthood chasing the dream. I took acting classes all over the city, from some of the most prestigious companies. A majority of these places rarely made me feel like I belonged. Each teacher, casting director, and agent gave me feedback that essentially told me I wasn't good enough, masculine enough, believable, cast-able. It gave me a severe inferiority complex. After years of not being in class, I couldn't take it anymore. That creative drive we all experience as performers takes hold and we have to do something before our spirit dies. I looked up The Acting Center and submitted a request for class information. The registrar and teacher set up an appointment with me and called me one evening and we talked for an hour! She allowed me to fully express myself and asked me about all of my experiences and I could feel that she was genuinely interested in me. I signed up for the introductory class, where I fell in love with the space, the teachers, and my classmates. I joined the Scene Study group which meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and I have never been happier. They teach an approach to acting that is so simple and they believe in everyone's ability to succeed. There is no feedback. No "that didn't quite work for me." It is always positive. They know that by just doing and being, we will get better at our craft. If you are looking for an acting school where you feel fully accepted for who you are and to work with people who genuinely care about helping you, then I highly recommend The Acting Center. I don't plan to ever leave. read more

I'm an actor from London who has continued my workouts here in LA at many different places. The Acting Center is simply the best one I have been to. I recommend new and working actors to make this the place of choice to train and work out those kinks. read more

I love this studio. They have a streamlined method to teaching acting that's easy to understand and a step by step process to building a character. It's the most clear experience and straight forward education I've had in my 15 years of acting. Along with wonderful, inspiring, and compassionate teachers that make this studio feel like home. A real community of working actors. Every actor needs a community to do well in this industry and this is a particularly supportive one. read more

I'm currently taking the online classes during the Covid-19 shutdown. This class is keeping me creative and my skills sharp. You work the ENTIRE class, with new exercises each class. The online format is very interactive and keeps you both focused and excited to perform. The teachers are very knowledge and answers all your questions, without making you feel stupid. You are trained to be a actor that delivers unforgettable performances! This is a safe place. A place without criticism that allows you to really develop your voice as an artist without getting torn down in front of 30 of your peers. You walk away with certainity that you can create a character and be another person...that makes it fun and very inspiring. Thank you for all your support! read more

Hands down... THE BEST TRAINING FOR ACTORS I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED! For many years I have taken a ton of workshops and classes. All ending in disappointment. Being scolded and critiqued on what I felt was natural, made me want to quit something I was so passionate about. Very sad because acting is all I've ever wanted. I decided to give it one last shot so I packed up and moved to LA from Miami to study. I stayed a year and was lucky to find TAC. They helped me regain my confidence as an actor. They helped mold me into a stronger more believable actor. I have never felt so comfortable in a class before. I can't thank them enough. Im constantly raving to my friends about TAC. I wish we had these classes here in Miami. Next time I'm in LA I plan take more classes when I'm there. read more

The Acting Center LA has a whole different feel on acting and breaks it all down to make the "hardest" characters into something that is easy to do. They have wonderful staff and an extremely friendly environment. I have spent years working with this team and wouldn't change it for the world. If you are looking for a new acting school to try out, check them out! read more

I took the scene acting class at The Acting Center and posted the following review for the other location but felt it important to move it to the new page AND to say that I haven't been able to take more classes because I am acting constantly. I do live theatre and have moved from show to show thanks to TAC. TAC gave me the tools needed to simply become the characters I was auditioning for and then to take it through to performance. If you are an actor you need to this class! -------------------- These classes are amazing and the teachers are fantastic! I've been taking classes here for about six months and I've made more progress in characterization, memorization, scene work, general improv and audition techniques than I've made in any other acting program or class. The teachers and other class members are incredibly supportive. They offer a safe and fun environment for exploring all aspects of the acting process. You also work constantly throughout class, instead of the standard scene study class where you do a lot of watching and critiquing. I HIGHLY recommend The Acting Center to any actor. Every time I leave class I feel rejuvenated and ready to hit the audition process hard. The program is designed to allow you to work at your own speed while the teachers keep you on task and heading forward. I love The Acting Center and I thankful every day that I just stumbled on it purely by accident. read more

I've been stopping by The Acting Center since 2007, to attend shows and performances put on by my friends. I've seen, firsthand, the results that The Acting Center produces. Students start killing it, booking auditions for commercials, shows and yes, feature films. My favorite part is how the staff and students all provide a very warm and friendly environment. I've noticed the encouragement and support without the browbeating from those who "know best". Give them a call, or better yet stop by. I highly recommend it :) read more

I love this place. I've been going to class for about 8 or 9 months now and it's completely changed the way I look at acting. I feel like I fell back in love with it. They teach you so many different tools to stuff in your toolbox and each audition and each performance gets easier every time. And Amanda is amazing! She makes class so much fun, and she's an encyclopedia of knowledge. I always learn something new every single class! Definitely sign up for class!! read more

I started at The Acting Center in the Fall of 2014 and I absolutely LOVE it. I studied at varies other schools since I was very young and I was never supported, nurtured and motivated-- until I went to The Acting Center. I have left every class feeling not just good, but proud of myself-- unfortunately, that sense of confidence is rare to find in LA acting schools. After a couple classes, I knew I had found gold. The teachers and staff are professional actors and artists themselves who advise and motivate students to fully commit to each character by trusting their instincts. Its truly a revolutionary way of studying the art of acting-- you use the The Acting Center method and use those tools to create your character, rather than relying on a person to give you their feedback and opinion. Interested? Call them! Or, come by one of the Friday salons (shows) that take place the last Friday of every month. Check them out on Facebook and Instagram too! read more

The Acting Center is an amazing place...one that I actually stumbled upon by a freak google search, but I am SOOO glad I did. I have grown as an actress and a person since being there. I am no longer nervous for an audition, I am extremely comfortable in front of the camera as well as a live audience and my booking stats are pretty damn good! I usually get call backs for most of my auditions at the very least. Also the teachers and founders are amazing!!! Everyone is so nice, professional, and genuinely cares about you and your progress as an artist. I would highly recommend The Acting Center for a new actor or an experienced one looking to revamp their skills. I LOVE TAC!!!! read more

When I decided to begin an acting career, it became clear to me that my first big challenge would be figuring out which "method" to study. What method was for me? Which one was the "best?" After a few days of the daunting task of researching many methods, I came across The Acting Center and I was instantly relieved; they were something completely different. At TAC, the focus is on developing you as an artist through building your confidence and expanding your imagination. The most important rule here is that no student or teacher will ever criticize any of your work. You are always in a comfortable and safe space to explore your creativity. We are reminded each class that every actor is good, one of a kind, and that their ideas and perspective matter. We are always encouraged to step out of our comfort zone and try any and everything we can imagine. I remember towards the end of my first class, I was acting in front of other people for the first time and I felt 100% comfortable and excited to do so. The curriculum is easy to understand and helps you to develop such diverse and vivid characters in an instant. You're working the entire class and have plenty of opportunities to perform. I've been studying here consistently since June 2019 and I'm thankful every day to call this not just my acting school, but my creative home. read more

I love this place, their teachers and what they stand for. No criticism allowed. That helped me so much not in the craft but in real life. Is the only place I took classes that makes sense. Amanda, the woman who kinda runs the place is a doll and a rockstar altogether. Tamara is my teacher in the morning and she is amazingly kind, smart funny and strong. I learn so much from her. I started coming here ten years ago, when I first moved to LA and i had tons of callbacks and bookings. Then I dropped due to finances an I moved out of town. I came back in January and they've rekindled a flame I thought i had lost. Im so grateful for them. Is the best money you will spend and you will c the fruit of your investment really fast. I have a crazy schedule at times due to work, and they work with me over and over, so much to be grateful for. I truly believe is the best acting technique there is . An dIve studied in many places and other countries also. This is the So simple, so real, will blow your mind. read more

The Acting Center is one of those places that you can walk into without feeling uncomfortable or like you don't belong. Everyone is so welcoming! After a long break, I had to find a school that was going to help me get my confidence back and to also re-ignite my passion for acting. TAC did that for me and more! Their technique is unique, but very simple. As a theatre graduate it took a little time to get used to, but it made sense and as long as you're open-minded to learning new things you really can't go wrong. Tamra is a wonderful teacher. They all are. Lena is like a big sister and Amanda is amazing and full of knowledge when it comes to the craft and the business side of things, which I found extremely helpful (highly recommend her career consults!!!). I recently booked my first role in a short film and the audition process wasn't so bad because I was able to use TAC's scene study technique. I was prepared and calm and a lot of my success in booking the role had everything to do with TAC and the classes I committed to. If you're looking for a school that doesn't put pressure on you and is swarming with very supportive, working actors full of experience and knowledge that you can meet and learn from (and all booking amazing work, too!) then look no further! read more

As a new student at The Acting Center I found that the care of the instructors and quality of instruction to be much more more than I expected. I would highly recommend the Acting Center to anyone who is interested in getting their start in acting. read more

Are you tired of being subjected to the opinions of an acting "guru" who may or may not have some sort of personality disorder? Are you tired of re-visiting your most painful memories to find "authentic" emotions in your performances? Are you tired of feeling lost on set because you have no internal artistic compass of your own because you only know how to act for other people's approval? As someone with a college degree in Theatre Arts from a "prestigious" school" who trained in Meisner and Method for years, I can honestly say this is better. Your acting "guru" will not be on set or stage with you, your old painful memories will lose their edge after you re-visit them for the 100th time, take your acting to a new and better level. Go check out The Acting Center and get your acting groove back. read more

The simplest, most powerful acting technique I have ever come across. I have grown so much and so fast as an actor using The Acting Center's technique. I have always had the desire to play anything and everything under the sun. And now I actually CAN. The Acting Center has allowed me to do that. I am forever grateful. :-) read more

I have been doing ballet since I was a kid, and had danced professionally for 10 years. It was absolutely my life, and getting into a ballet company was pretty exciting to say the least. But after a while in the company, I felt like I was losing confidence and drive. Every day seemed to be the same, and for some reason I felt like I was doing a lot of things wrong, even though I didn't know what they were. I felt like every move I made either my boss/director didn't like, or one of the other dancers didn't like and I started to lose my spirit. Deep down, I still knew I was talented, but I felt like I wasn't getting picked to do parts that I knew I could bring something special to. In a sense, I felt invisible. After a few years of struggling with this, I quit and moved to LA to pursue....something.... I came to the Acting Center in January of this year. I had always been interested in acting, and thought if anything, this was the city to try it (obviously). I wanted to study somewhere that I felt there was a bit of freedom to explore, and not a lot of pressure to "do it right." I had no idea whether I was going to like it, or be good at it, or even care. Well there were a lot of tears at the beginning, my ballet perfection kicked in immediately and if I didn't feel good at something instantly, I got frustrated. But the teachers here are extremely supportive. They let me do my thing, yet were very diplomatic and would always suggest/set up some plan of action to solve the problems I was dealing with. They never make you feel like you "did it wrong," and they are very thorough in making sure that you understand what you are doing. If you're running into a problem with anything, they are there to help you through, and with no judgement. I feel like a different person, and not just when I'm in class, but also in my life. I am finding more and more confidence within myself, and I'm not afraid that the decisions I make, be they artistic or otherwise, are going to be "wrong." I've tackled some accents that I never would have thought I could do, and there are moments when I'm performing that I forget who and where I am. I laugh, I cry, sometimes I dance. It's freakin great. read more

I had stopped acting nearly 10 years ago feeling defeated and totally uncertain in my ability to perform. I had actually booked several roles on popular television shows and several commercials, but had become totally overwhelmed and confused about the whole acting scene here in Hollywood. By chance, I ran into one of the teachers at The Acting Center and after hearing my story, persuaded me to come and try them out, even though I hadn't even really wanted to get back into acting at the time. Well.......Holy Cow!! What can I say?.... This place has totally rehabilitated my love of acting, my belief in myself and my talent!! I have returned to doing what I love and their technique is showing in my callback and booking rate. Their curriculum is laid out in such a way that you learn in small easy steps that build more and more confidence and the ability to trust one's own instincts, not relying on approval from others, but getting to a point where one KNOWS with certainty that one can be any character one wants. The teachers have been there for me every step of the way and have helped me through every 'crisis'. I can't thank them enough! Actors, you should definitely check this place out!! read more
