Great Experience! I wanted to sign my wife up for a pottery class and came across this place. When I spoke with Anita, she took the time to explain everything in detail and made the decision to sign up for the hand-building class really easy. I ended up deciding to join my wife, and I'm so glad I did! We had a wonderful time, learned a new art, and created several really cool pieces in just four sessions that we were able to take home. Anita was incredibly professional, patient, and supportive throughout the classes. She created such a peaceful and welcoming environment, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Now we're both tempted to try the wheel class as well--and maybe even sign up for some "me time" sessions! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing, and creative experience. Thanks Anita & Kristin! read more

10/10 highly recommended Creative Ceramics! As a New Year's resolution I wanted to start crafting more so my friends and I decided to sign up for an intro class and it's been such a great experience! Melissa is a wonderful teacher full of so much knowledge and creativity! While they don't have parking themselves I haven't had an issue finding street parking for my 6:30pm class on Tuesdays. If you're considering taking a class - this is your sign! DO IT! read more

Creative Ceramics - Power went out during the wind storms but it made for a great photo and memory - Art Schools Near Me - Sherman Oaks, California

I've now taken two introductory classes with two different teachers, and I still learned so much from the second class as well. Both teachers were wonderful, including the owner, who was so much fun! She encouraged my creative ideas and made the experience even more enjoyable. The studio is a warm, cozy, and creative environment, and everyone I've met during studio time has been lovely. I'm excited to sign up for my own studio time and look forward to joining this amazing community. read more

Cute community studio with a fun vibe! Took a 4 week class here and had a great time. The 3-hour length of the class is great because you really get to experiment a lot. Most other studios offer shorter classes. We had two different teachers for two different parts of the class, and it was cool to get different perspectives on technique, since there are so many ways to do just about everything! read more

It can be scary to try something completely new but taking Intro to Ceramics with Melissa and Kristen has been such a special experience. They're so kind, patient, and encouraging--explaining everything clearly and offering thoughtful feedback every step of the way. The studio feels warm and welcoming, filled with beautiful handmade pieces that are so inspiring!! Whether you're just starting out or have experience, it's absolutely a place where you'll feel supported and excited to create!! I'm so grateful I took the leap-- couldn't recommend it more!!:) read more

The studio has an unreliable firing schedule and you never know when the kilns are filled. The studio is also unappealing as it's only open in the morning 9-12 or evening 6-9 with no afternoon options except on Saturday. read more

This was not the first time I took an introductory class in working clay on the wheel. But it was the first time the teacher sat with us the whole time and not only showed us what to do, but did it with us, showing us how to sit, how to hold our arms, and how to place our fingers and hands to turn a lump of clay into something recognizable. Not that it was easy, but it was fun. We started with lumps of clay and after four classes had three or four pieces that were painted and ready to be fired for the second time. We were so impressed with the place that we are now taking four classes in hand building. read more

Great people, great conversations and amazing art. When I started taking classes I just wanted to try something new to get my artistic juices flowing, inbetween my life of finance. I got so much more. Made great friends, shared stories and when I just need quiet time with my art, I started Me Time. However, I do recommend taking two sessions of hand building before moving on to Me Time, or take really good notes. Just know, clay is a volatile, unpredictable medium, you never know what the final look will be until it's out the kiln. Which makes it all the more fun. Enjoy! read more

Love love love this sweet spot. Kristen is the best ! Friendly staff. Awesome community. Loved the intro to wheel class

I can't even begin to explain how incredible my experience with creative ceramics has been! I wanted to try pottery for awhile and after a ton of research decided to try "hand building 101". After the 1st class I was hooked! The class meets 1 time a week for a set number of weeks. The last class you glaze your art and then they fire it for you to take home. You get complete artistic freedom and the teachers are do knowledgeable. I ended up making 1 giant piece and then a smaller one while others made 4 small pieces or just focused on 1 large one. The class fee includes all supplies. I immediately enrolled in "wheel 101" as soon as I finished hand building. I'm glad I took them in that order because wheel is definitely more difficult but still super fun. The best part of this studio is that it's a community as well. Everyone genuinely cares about one another. Whether you need a creative outlet, fun hobby, place to make friends, or a new form of meditation - I highly recommend creative ceramics. (Also Kristen is one of the coolest people I've ever met) read more

The class I took was great. Melissa was a wonderful, kind, and supportive teacher. I can not say the same of the owner, who is cold, rude, and unprofessional. Bottom line is: firing pieces was always delayed by weeks. It appeared to me that kiln space was too limited to accommodate the work production. I never received my very first piece. No explanation. In the end, and with no notice to me, the owner got rid of SEVEN pieces I made! Imagine working and putting heart and soul into your art, only to find out that the pieces were given away to children in one of the owner's pottery classes (I was, at first, told that they were "donated" which was a lie). The owner claimed that an email went out with a deadline to pick up our work . An email had in fact been sent, according to a couple of classmates. I, however, did not receive an email. The owner said she would send a screen shot to prove that it was sent. I never received that notification either. Clearly a terrible mistake was made, yet the owner was very cold, rude, and unsympathetic, blaming me. Not even a simple apology. Just anger and indignation on her part that I had been upset in front of other students when I learned that she had gotten rid of 7 works of art that were mine. What a way to run a business! read more

If you are looking for a new hobby or want to try ceramics or pottery class I highly highly recommend this place. Creative ceramics is an amazing studio. The founder Kristin is really the best, she is so good with kids my daughter absolutely adores her. Kristin is super smart, funny, caring and let you be as creative as you want to be. Her staff is great as well. My daughter loves Anita as well, she is so inspiring! My 8 y.o daughter is taking her classes for a year now. Initially we started because our art studio was closed and I was looking for something to replace it. Well, now Ceramics is her favorite activity and even though she continues to go to Art (which finally opened after lockdown) Ceramics is her # 1. She made some pretty beautiful pieces: elephant, big cat, plates, animals, holders, cups, etc, wall art. It's quite a drive for me but it so worth it. Kristin goes above and beyond the call of duty, she clearly cares about kids, she is so creative and fulfilled with desire to teach and create . Her classes are very small and safe. Studio is very clean. My daughter absolutely loves her and learns to much, she is obsessed with ceramics now. On top of everything we know ceramics does for your development I believe it also promotes patience, creativity and discipline as well. The art itself is a bit hard, definitely harder than paint night but it is amazing learning experience. The class is two hours but she thinks it ends too quickly, Kristin teaches them so much beyond just clay. Thank you Kristin and Anita! They teach adult classes too. Please stop by and support the local artist and art community! read more

I just finished my first class at Creative Ceramics, and I can say unequivocally that it was not only a great experience, but also a productive, enjoyable, relaxing 3 hour opportunity to learn and create. I am SO pleased to be there. Let me tell you why. First, the owner, Kristen, held the class for just two of us. That says a lot all by itself. Second, I learned more from Kristen in the 3 hours I was there, than I learned in a pottery class I just finished that lasted 9 weeks. Third, the camaraderie and community in Creative Ceramics is positive, joyful, and helpful. There is a clear sense of family in the studio. Fourth, the studio is well organized and clean. Fifth, I can't wait to go back next week. I could go on, but my advice is...if you are interested in ceramics, run don't walk to this studio. read more

I am the Youth Coordinator at NVCS. Words cannot fully express the gratitude and admiration we have for the Creative Ceramics team. Organizing a ceramics class for 40 students is no small feat, yet they executed it flawlessly. From sculpting the intricate details of masks to guiding the students in painting them, their expertise shone brightly throughout. Each one of them exhibited unparalleled patience, making sure every student felt seen, heard, and capable. Their kindness created an atmosphere of warmth and encouragement, which played a significant role in the success of the class. It's evident that their combined talents extend beyond just ceramics -- they are exceptional educators and mentors. We are immensely thankful for their dedication and passion. Their efforts left a lasting impression on the students, and we are confident that the skills and memories gained from this experience will be cherished for a lifetime. We wholeheartedly recommend Kristin, Melissa, Anita, and the volunteers for any educational endeavor and look forward to collaborating with them in the future. If you are thinking about starting ceramics, don't think anymore, book with them today!! read more

I can't say enough about this place. The vibe is amazing. The people that run this studio are very insightful and helpful. I am a beginner in this ceramics world and need all the help I can get and the folks here are very knowledgeable in their craft. It's a place for all skill levels. They have 5 spinning wheels. Wow! I've never tried creating with clay and it's very fun and therapeutic indeed. There is a lot you can do. Then when your creation hardens, there is still the whole other world of painting it. I had a ton of questions and she was more than happy to answer them. All of the ladies who attended were a blast to be with as well! We cannot wait to come back this week!! read more

My kids and I have been taking ceramic classes with Kristin Davis for years. She is a wonderful facilitator - down-to-earth, kind, funny and a talented artist. The new space is GREAT! This is so much better than those places where you just paint pre-fabricated items - here you get your hands dirty and create art from raw clay. Eventually I progressed to open studio time, and Kristin was always available to guide me with new techniques when I came in with my ambitious ideas! I highly recommend Creative Ceramics! read more

This place is Amazing. Creative Ceramics is the most unique pottery studio in the San Fernando valley. The owner, Kristin Davis, so hands on with both wheel-throwing and hand-building. I started as a total beginner, but more experienced people love it as well. One of the things that makes this place so special is Kristin's philosophy. She believes in order for her client's creativity to flourish, they need a comfortable space where everything is provided for them.  From tools and slab rollers to glazes and molds, all you have to do is show up and start creating. There is always someone there to help with any questions and the community is supportive and inspiring. There is no other pottery studio around like this one. read more

LOVE love love Kristin and her studio. She's a professional, the studio is professional. She's so kind and patient with both my kids, both in elementary. My two kids learned how to work with clay and made some amazing art and some functional things too! The toothbrush holders they made, they still use every day. My daughter, by the way, is usually not comfortable being left alone at group classes. However, after one visit with Kristin, my daughter wanted to not only stay without me to work on her ceramics, but she was always the last kid out the door! It's a great environment for anyone, child or adult. read more

I've known Kristy and her awesome work ethic for going on 20 years. She has given many a kid and adults the opportunity to share her knowledge and passion for art and Ceramics. Adults learn to build, with supporting instruction and freedom to create their own projects or pick from projects Kristin suggests. Meanwhile, for children she has created a varied and fun curriculum and makes sure that she works with the individual skill set. Nobody is left out. She is an encouraging and positive role model to enforce the value of creative thinking. Her classes give children a venue to explore and learn such social skills as patience, and peer to peer interaction. Culminating in a recital where the children invite their family and friends to see their work on display, with music and snacks to enjoy the event. read more
