The teachings there are helping to bring those dreams into fruition. I'm excited about the next 20+ years ahead as I give myself permission each day to just DO IT!!!!. Thank you RLS read more

I left the healthcare industry and began pursuing my childhood dream of acting at Richard Lawson Studios about 2-3 years ago. At RLS one of the main things I have learned is that Dreams Don't Have Experation Dates, and that anyone can begin their acting career no matter what age they are. As a student I've learned how to audition for roles, Improv, voice lessons, and Scene Study. Richard is a Wonderful mentor & teacher. And the community at RLS is a joy to be a part of as everyone is very friendly. read more

It's called, "Show Business" and he pulls the curtain back on how to build your vision and maintain it! RLS is where it's at!! read more

I started at RLS in March, right before the stay at home orders were made. What I knew would be the one of best decsions I would make as an actor was confirmed not only my first day of class (in studio) but following that as well (now currently taking zoom classes). The enviorment at RLS is contagious, educational, and life changing. Every coach, mentor and student involved in the studio is dedicated and commited to learning and growing to get the next level. If you are looking for a studio that not only provides coaching, but mentorship, life practices, community (like-minded people) and also an abunance of growth this is for you! read more

My Biggest investment is my family and I've taken that investment and vested it with The Richard Lawson studios. For me it is not only the education and training that my wife and daughter receive in all facets of the business , but it is the atmosphere provided by the RSL studio, that helps them to prepare and to deal with the emotional rollercoaster of being in the entertainment business. RSL studios prepares students in all areas of the entertainment industry including teaching them how to create their own content and make their own opportunities, while at the same time giving them a positive environment to learn and create in. Both my wife and daughter study and train at the Richard Lawson studios it is amazing and supportive community. The training provided not only helps them in the entertainment industry but in their life skills and beyond . I wholeheartedly support and applaud Richard Lawson Studios. read more

If you are not ready to work hard and breathe acting and everything about acting, DO NOT take this class. The 16-week class that I took changed my entire career path. I learned that the business is not about knowing how to act, or be the best actor there is. So many amateurs that came out to LA, or Hollywood (which they like to claim) arrived here with a dream. And some with an unrealistic ideology. Being the best looking, or best actor does not create your career. It is more than that! You can wish to be an actor and wish to be a star for all you want, but if you do not work it, breathe it or even do what ever it takes to be it, you will always be sitting in that bus corner waiting for the talent scouting bus to come and whizz you away, which of course may never happen. (This I learned from Richard) At RLS, I have started my career with an Independence of Declaration, plotting exactly what I want, how I am going to do it and when I will get there. I have so far managed to make a few short films, one of which was submitted to the YOMYOMF initiative; Interpretations Film Competition. I did not win, which is perfectly fine, because now there are more people in the industry know me than when I was trying to sell myself through my agents and CD showcases. I learned how to use a camera, direct a scene, achieve good lighting and sound while filming, but most important of all, I learned to be accountable for making myself, the product, as visible as possible. I can easily create a script and start shooting. And I can edit my footage and be ready to post it on youtube all within a short week. In fact, I am ready to start shooting my next short film when the holidays are over. All these would not be possible without the knowledge I got from RLS, and the close community of supportive artists that Richard has formed in RLS. Take that bold step, step it up and challenge yourself, you will be so amazed that you could actually do more than what you can right now. read more

I'm a working actor in Hollywood and a student at the Richard Lawson Studio. I can't stress enough the importance of strong training with regard to succeeding in the acting world. You always have to be at the top of your game. The RLS will help you access your full potential and discover your unique self. If you have a dream, bring it here and start living it. read more

BY FAR, THE MOST OUTSTANDING ACTING SCHOOL I'VE BEEN TO. Sorry for the CAPS, but with the training I've previously had in this business, Richard's "positive" approach & philosophies in building on one's strengths and discovering what sets you apart from others is truly an eye-opening experience within every class. In today's world with the advancements in technology that keep evolving and the accessibility to nearly anyone, I've seen first-hand how someone's life can change in a moment. The ability to tap into every aspect of being an artist, whether that be as an actor, singer, musician, comedian, director, writer, producer, editor, public speaker, host, you name it, at "RLS" the possibilities are endless. I'm honored to be a part of a truly wonderful community where everyone matters. The environment at Richard Lawson Studios is unequivocally a place "W.A.C.O." (Where Art Can Occur). My daughter is enrolled in The Young Artist's Program. I cannot tell you how her confidence has grown. For instance, after only two classes she signed with an agent. Thank you Richard and staff. We've found my home. :-) read more

First of all the community is amazing. I can't tell you how many times I had to utilize my community for EVERYTHING. I can't think of one person who was not available for me or didn't have anything I needed for my scene. The teaching is something else. This was the first class that I felt my growth in. I've learned so much about myself, the industry, and what I can bring to it and the 2 years that I've been with the studio. We amazing teachers and amazing programs that helps to progress you in your journey. It is seriously a space where art can occur without judgement. read more

RLS (Richard Lawson Studios) is one of the best schools out there. He covers everything from beginners to advanced actors, writers, directors etc. I've studied with Richard for over15 yrs and there is no one i would rather collaborate with on any part or project. It's more than an acting class it's also an administration class and he creates a Community of support that I haven't seen in LA in a long time. Richard and his wife Tina are also very involved in the community with big brother and big sister programs. Also constantly making time to do benefits to raise money for disaster relief etc. This school, in any way, should be supported by everyone. read more

Words can't explain how much I appreciate and have grown with RLS. I have been a part of the community since the beginning of the year and WOW!! is there a difference in my self tapes/auditions. Being in the 1.0 class with Kelly Tighe as my teacher has given me so much confidence, as well as helpful assessments. This isn't just a "class", it's a community and an education you can't get anywhere else. The prices are incredibly reasonable. RLS is a MUST TRY! read more

As a singer who landed his first stage show a couple of years ago, I wanted to get better at acting, and so I was referred to the Richard Lawson Studios. I went from just trying to learn how to act to learning how to unlock all of my own intricacies so that I could then go and create realistic, interesting portrayals. The amazing teachers here (and there are many) teach acting, but they are also teaching about life - and once you delve into your own life, and address all the considerations you have on yourself, you find that your world expands exponentially in your art. The new online courses are EXCELLENT - so if you have ever wanted to give acting a try, now is the perfect opportunity. You will be glad you did. read more

This place is truly magical. It represents freedom - freedom to express, to be oneself, freedom to grow and learn from failures. When someone is exploring the world of art - they need to have a freedom to be oneself. That's what Richard Lawson Studios provides. And all of this is because of Richard himself. That man is just magnificent to say the least - full of wisdom, gives amazing and honest advice, and makes sure to tell you the only limit you have is the sky! Every time I see him I get inspired, and that's really the kind of person, energy and wavelength an artist and person needs to be around to elevate to a higher level. Thank you RLS for all that you do, and thank you Richard for being the human and spirit you are. read more

Went to go see a show here and it was great but they made me sign in by submitting my email phone and asking for a photo???? I've never been to a show where they've asked me to take a photo of myself...please eliminate that invasion of privacy, it is very inappropriate read more

I've had the great fortune to receive Richard Lawson's teaching for decades. To be taught by a consummate artist is a great gift. Richard has performed in the theatre, in film and on TV his entire career and knows how to navigate them all and leave his unique mark. But what is most special about Richard is his love of artists and his deep rooted purpose to nurture them, inspire them and arm them with the tools of the craft and the nuts and bolts of how to navigate the business of "Hollywood". He cultivates professional and gifted artists. He creates creators. read more

Just took the online course about Causative Routines and man it really hit home. I've taken acting classes on the East coast and West... and I can tell you that this might have been a terrible experience for me. Not because of Richard himself. He's a very sweet and compassionate person. I think the class is useful, however, very overpriced for what it actually is. Aside from charging a starving artist and arm and a leg for "acting class" (THIS ISN'T REALLY AN ACTING CLASS) one has to pay for their own camera if they don't already own one and then one must make sure they have all the right cables, tapes, video chips, etc. I studied at one of the BEST studios in Manhattan with the founder himself (Esper Studios) in which many famous actors have come and gone. Maybe because I am used to a certain type of professionalism --- but I wouldnt recommend this class to anyone. First of all - Class is held in his own house in the "back house". Secondly, you are forced to sign your life away by promising to pay 16 weeks even if you decide to stop attending classes (kind of illegal). Secondly-- he has this stage manager who might be the WORST person on the planet. I bumped into another "classmate" on a shoot and she also had a terrible experience with Chariss (stage manager). I had a very personal incident in which I had to go back home and this woman has a. tried to compare me to Robert Downey Jr. and then b. ask me (blatantly) if my cousin was in fact dead. I simply scoffed at this due to the incredible amount of disbelief of what I just heard and then I told her conversation was over. My cousin's freak accident was all over the NY Times and the Village Voice and The Daily News. I mean, seriously, to even question when I would come back and that my having to leave bc of my cousin's well being was NO EXCUSE. They are crazy fanatics and no offense to all the scientologist but they are "very happy" and over the top with their super positive energy. I say try it if you want, but don't sign any papers. They will hold you liable. Or at least try to. Good Luck LA ACTORS.... p.s. just fyi - after speaking to classmate the day i bumped into her, she said nearly half the class had dropped out 1/2 way through the term.... read more

Beyond amazing. This is a must for anyone who really wants to work! The community you have always dreamed of. An artist these days must be armed with tools to help them get auditions and opportunities. Richard Lawson is an advocate for the individual uniqueness of each artist. read more

This is not just a class or a studio. This place creates STARS and more importantly real ARTISTS not to mention "human beings". Join only if you are willing to work your ass off and to comfort your artistic life. Otherwise go to Starbucks every day and contemplate about being an actor/director. I have been in this business for 30 years. I do not really need to go to a class, but I am there every week. I work on my own written pieces. I direct scenes and I just created an entire ONE WOMAN SHOW which was conceived at the RL Studio. I go for inspiration, I go to exercise my artistic muscles, I go to help other artists make it through this business and encourage the next generation! read more

I'll lay it out there. This place is for people who dream big and then take the actions to make those dreams a reality. As we all get into this art because we have a love for performing and storytelling - yet often haven't a clue how to actually make a living and build a career doing so. In this place you learn to take your career into your own hands. It's an incredible, supportive community of people with high standards and boatloads of talent. He is breeding professionals. And his students are WORKING. All the time. If you're reading this review you're probably doing so because you are interested in studying with him. My advice to you is google him and read his writing or listen to audio. Let him speak for himself and trust me, you'll likely look no further. Cheers to you! I'm so glad I found this place. I am currently in the Scene Study 3.0 & PDP 3.0 classes and I am better for them! I love Richard Lawson. He's been my teacher at the Beverly HIlls Playhouse for 9 years. I did his on-camera workshop and booked 2 movies immediately after it. He is a caring but tough teacher - and inspiring. There is no such thing as "No" in Richard's world and I cannot think of anyone better to study with. read more

Some of us never know what we have inside (our heart's desire) until we are challenged to look. That is a beautiful and a scary thing (depending on who you are and where you are at). Richard's class isn't an acting class in a traditional sense. It is much more than that. But then the business of "acting" is so much more than just "acting." His classes are for people who want to work and for people who really, truly have that as a goal. IF you like being a professional student and have "good" reasons why you don't work as an actor (or in your chosen field), go somewhere else and study. For me, I am light years ahead of where I was 3 years ago. I book work and I am creating work I'm really proud of. I am blessed to have found Richard as a teacher and mentor. read more

I came from Greece in Hollywood with a dream, " to be an actress " what a coincidence , what a deja' vu everybody around me had exactly the same dream , and guess what none seemed to really believe in it. I just wanted to take the first plane and go back to the warmth of my homeland, but I stayed and I took the last plane only a few weeks before my visa was expired in order to come back for a longer period of time ready to achieve my dream and complete this class. Because after attending for a while this class, I know that my dream is not to be an actress, but instead a great artist that can change the world ,and I also know that I will achieve this and everything else I want in life, if I follow the right path. This class helps me to get to know who I am , and as a result to realize that I am able to follow any path I will choose in life. read more
