Soho dance was the place I first really started to learn to dance. It has been my home and a place of community and learning. The thing I love most about there is that they have is tic toes that will teach you the skills and the foundations do dance while still making it fun. I need a balance of technique and fun and they deliver! I have had the esteemed pleasure of working with and competing with many of the instructors, I've learned a multitude of dances, had incredible support and the most fun I've had pretty much anywhere. Dance itself can be almost addictive once you jump in and boy what better place to get those endorphins in while learning than at a place like this? I went from knowing virtually nothing and feeling very overwhelmed (in a good way) about any partner style dance, (I also didn't have a background in other forms of dance) and threw myself in entirely to then be at my first salsa competition a year later. I'm so glad I made that investment. I've warned lifelong friends and memories. They have knowledgeable teachers, kind staff, a wonderful space and always something fun going on. I have worked with the owner, Raul, the amazing Artem, the show stopping Yesenia, the bubbly Deana, the sassy Jackie and many others during my time there. My husband and I reached out to Soho Dance to get dance lessons for our first dance at our wedding. We got assigned Lucia, and it truly was the best thing that could have happened to us. I think we had a total of 6-7 classes, but after the second class, we had the entire routine down - it was all just about perfecting it. Lucia came up with the entire dance, after we expressed our song and vision to her. She even edited the music. She was so friendly, her schedule was so flexible, and she took advantage of each minute of every class. We really lucked out with her. She is so incredibly talented, and it shows. Our wedding was about a month ago and people don't stop talking about our first dance. The choreography was so amazing. Positive: Raul is efficient. Doesn't waste time. You learn good sequences. Very sarcastic, funny, quirky sense of humor. Negative: Mis-scheduled me twice for a private. When I say that classes at this studio have changed my year, is kind of an understatement. I've been attending classes at Soho Dance LA since March. I had been looking for a place to take salsa lessons for a couple of months and had not been able to find a studio that gave classes on weekends. I finally found Soho through the Mind Body app and just going through their website, I knew this was the right place for me. For the past four years I've struggled with severe depression, not being able to make it out of bed on most days, having to take months off of work at a time; it wasn't pretty but I'm happy to say that I am in a better place now and that's partly because of this studio. Usually what weekends meant to me was that I couldn't get out of bed, my doctors suggested physical activities but nothing motivated me ... until I started attending classes with Raul Santiago who is the owner of the studio and an AMAZING teacher. After one class, I started, for the first time in years, looking forward to my weekends. I found myself waking up excited on Saturdays. I had a reason to get out of bed and leave my house. Raul's such a talented dancer and finds unique ways to motivate his students - not an easy feat because I suck at salsa btw - but he encourages you with sincerity. I have since then started taking Latin Hustle with Raul - where I also suck - and it's just as rewarding. I would recommend this studio to everyone. Oh! I absolutely love this place! Initially came to one of the social events last summer and signed up for a private class trial with Raul. During the initial session we discussed my dancing goals. I explained that I am not interested in competing or performing, would like to become a great social dancer and be able to easily follow. Have been addicted to Soho ever since. I take both group classes and privates. Classes are fun and challenging at the same time. Raul is amazing and created a wonderful team of very talented and passionate instructors!!! Raul introduced me to Latin hustle and Cha cha shines. Joel is also one of my favorites. Love his Bachata classes and salsa, bachata styling. Fantastic place to dance! I've been taking both group classes and private lessons from this studio for over a year now in salsa, ballroom, and hustle. The instruction is top-notch; I tried two other local studios before finding Soho. The facility is great, the front staff is friendly and well-trained, the group classes are fun and dynamic, and private lessons are top notch in terms of instruction. I have worked with the studio owner Raul, as well as Yesenia, Daisy, and Ashley for private lessons. Everyone has been incredibly positive, patient and respectful. They are consummate professionals who care deeply about their students. I've learned how to dance far quicker than I ever thought I would (I no longer look like a baby giraffe on the dance floor). Above all, what I think Soho offers is a sense of community and camaraderie that is rare to find in LA. I always leave the studio is a better place than when I arrived. I have been taking dance lessons with Raul Santiago for a few months. He is such an brilliant, creative, positive, and encouraging teacher. Raul has a sense of humor and keeps things fun and comfortable, but also teach you a lot in a short time. He's also remarkable at explaining difficult dance concepts, which I really appreciate. I learn something new every lesson and leave feeling more confident and excited about dancing. Raul takes time to teach the fundamentals, which has helped me tremendously at the beginning. Her teaching style, gentle personality, and ability to make a class so light-hearted and fun is amazing. She has really helped us to advance our skills and clean up our steps. Came here to do a Salsa and Bachata workshop awhile back, and I decided to come back since the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Learning these dances was not the easiest, but instructors like Erica, JC, and Yesenia made it fun and memorable. I actually go out social dancing now, especially since they made each lessons practical when it comes to going out into the scene. I went to an open house at LA Ballroom to find out about their dance classes and exercise classes. I danced many years ago but have been out of the loop for so long that I felt unsure about if I wanted to get back into it. They had an introductory package that was perfect. Reasonably priced and gave me an opportunity to take group class and private. So I signed up for that and couldn't be happier. The teachers are very skilled and make dancing fun. I have had trouble finding a class in LA and the Valley where you would actually dance and have a great work out at the same time. Lots of group classes to choose from and very often have small attendance, which is great for more one-on-one time with the instructor. We started taking private lessons with Alexander and have seen quick improvement in our dancing ability - he's very patient and breaks everything down so that it's easy to understand. My fiancé went from zero experience in dancing to having a solid grasp on foxtrot, waltz, and is getting the hang of swing, all in just a few short weeks. He even gave us some simple practice steps we can take home with us. We haven't worked with the other instructors yet or done the social dance party, but are looking forward to it! read more

For our wedding, we wanted to have a better dance than just swaying back and forth. They set us up with Yulia, and she choreographed us the most beautiful routine! Many of our guests said it brought tears to their eyes! Yulia is an awesome instructor! She made learning the routine fun! Whenever we had trouble with a step, she broke it down and we were able to pick up the step. Not once did we feel awkward. Yulia and every instructor here, were very supportive and encouraging. I've attended group dance classes, private lessons both alone and with my husband, dance fitness classes such as LA Blast, and group dance parties. The teachers are friendly, experienced and highly capable. They make dance class fun and accessible to students and enthusiasts of all levels. Not wishing to leave anyone out, but Jenn, Jonathan, and Alonzo are fabulous teachers who have taught me so much. And Amrita, at the front desk, is always encouraging and helpful with reminders and updates. Elena has chosen her staff well. Each time I take a class, that teacher becomes my favorite. Called and paid for a portion of a party that was booked with DWM Dance with Elena. Specifically made clear to only charge a specific amount. A month later Elena decided to charge an extra $200 due to the person she booked the party with cancelled her check. Which has nothing to do with me. So this was "FRAUD" by all means. We did not sign a contract giving DWM authorization to charge our companies credit card months later. I call Elena and by no means was she understanding and basically admitted she charged it and oh well. No contract was in place with party that booked it which makes me feel as if they dont do contracts to save the shadyness of what there company is doing!!!!! read more
