Click on "faculty and staff." You'll see nobody listed because practically all their staff have quit. It's a toxic environment where the directors and teachers treat dancers with disdain. They make comments on what the young girls are eating (that's a major red flag at a dance studio). It's a very sad decline. They used to put on a production of the Nutcracker at the Alex Theater in Glendale. It was glorious. That was before Covid. Now they put on a small family only production in a little theater in Northridge. They used to have many dancers winning competitions. Now they barely have anyone even qualified to enter competitions. It's a very sad state of affairs with many dancers going to much better, growing dance studios in the area. I'd be surprised if LABA is still operating later this year. So sad to see it fall from grace. I guess all good things come to an end.

She has received outstanding training from incredibly skilled and passionate teachers in an extremely positive, supportive, and professional environment. The artistry and education provided by BDA under the direction of Jason Coosner are exceptional. I can't recommend this studio enough for all dancers - from first-time dancers to those looking for a pre-professional training program!

This is the best dance studio in Los Angeles. Whether your child has serious aspirations or simply…read morejust loves to dance this is by far the best place. The teaching staff brings a wealth of experience to these young dancers and they do so with such a loving way. The foundation of BDA is ballet with which these kids build from in jazz, lyrical, technique, tap, hip hop and acro. If you want to be a ballerina this is the place. If you want to tap or do lyrical this is the place. If you want to dance for fun. This is the place! The focus is on building a well rounded dancer that can take their experience to college or to a professional ballet company or to just have fun! Jason Coosner, the studio Director and main choreographer, has his MFA and has created this academy for all of the right reasons. He is the president of Dance Masters Pacific Coast and also teaches at the Relativity School. His choreography is absolutely beautiful, age appropriate and truly shows off the strengths of each dancer. I can't imagine anyone else choreographing my daughters contemporary solos. His work is award winning. For those that have kids with serious dance aspirations, my 11 year old got accepted to the School of American Ballet CA intensive on full scholarship this summer. It's a pretty big deal. With all of her BDA training, she was able to walk into her classes completely confident, independent and take on the new Balanchine style easily. Many think they have to go to a ballet only school to compete at YAGP or get into a company. Nope! Elyse placed 2nd in contemporary and top 10 in classical and was invited to the NY YAGP Finals this past year at age 10. The beauty of this academy is that she can strive to be a professional ballerina doing ballet along with all of the other dance forms. Dance is joy! I believe if you entrust your kids dance education and experience to Burbank Dance Academy your kids will find that joy and have a love of dance. Oh! And wait until you see the beautiful studio!

This isn't just about cleanliness -- it's about health and safety. Dancers are breathing heavily in this environment, and no one should be expected to train in a space like this. A studio with this level of recognition should be maintaining professional standards. Right now, it's falling far short.

Let me start by saying this loud and clear: I am not a great dancer. I'm decent--with two left…read morefeet--and I work hard outside of class because, well, I need to. I've even booked private sessions with instructors just to nail down routines. So if that sounds familiar, keep reading--because by the end of this, you might just be signing up for your first class. I've been a proud member of the Groove Zone community for nearly two years now, and honestly, I can't say enough great things about the instructors and the entire program. Yolanda Thomas, the owner and lead instructor, is a force of nature--an incredibly kind, passionate, and inspiring human who truly cares about every single person who steps through the studio doors. Her motto? "If you think you can't dance, I bet ya I can teach ya how to." (Spoiler alert: She can.) Thanks to Groove Zone, I've performed at two South Bay Lakers halftime shows and even hit the floor at a WNBA halftime performance at Crypto Arena--in front of 15,000 people. Yeah... 15,000. Never in my life did I think I'd perform in front of a live audience, let alone an arena crowd. It's the kind of rush you can't describe--and an experience most people never get the chance to have. And the community? Pure gold. The dancers I've met have become friends, cheerleaders, and my biggest supporters. There's zero judgment in the studio--because we're all there for the same reasons: to learn something new, break a sweat, and most importantly--have fun. Big shoutout to another powerhouse instructor: Manuela. She might seem intimidating at first (because let's be real--she's an absolute beast on the dance floor), but she is hilarious, supportive, and knows her stuff inside and out. She pushes you to grow, step outside your comfort zone, and leave class drenched in sweat--but in the best way possible. When it's time to hit the stage, she'll make sure you're 100% performance ready. And if you're not? She'll tell you that too--but with honesty, compassion, and the goal of making sure next time, you'll own that stage. That's how Groove Zone rolls: real talk, real support, real results. Take it from me--don't do what I did. I walked into my first class... got overwhelmed... and walked right back out. It took me a year to return. Don't let your nerves hold you back like that. Instead, challenge yourself. Step outside your comfort zone. Join a community of people who love to dance just as much as you want to. You don't have to be Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears. (I'm definitely not!) You just have to show up, bring your energy, make some new friends, and get one hell of a workout while you're at it. And when the day comes that you see yourself on a Jumbotron at a packed stadium, absolutely killing it in a halftime performance--don't say I didn't warn you about how badass you'd feel.

The LADA location phone number is 818-903-1463, and might be the best bet to call when lost. Plan on getting here 15-30 min ahead of time, because you'll probably have trouble finding it anyway. Don't bother asking the Cost Plus/World Market, as they'll respond "What dance studio?" When you're parking, you'll want to look for the Cost Plus World Market store. That's the plaza you want. It will also include the Union Bank and Krav Maga studio. But just focus on the World Market. You may need to circle around the block a few times until you see the entrance. It's a typical "take a ticket, pay later" lot. But if you're there for the 8pm class, it doesn't matter. It's free. Yes you can park right in next to the World Market. Or you can park in the large parking structure nearby. It's all fine and it's all in the same exact lot. The hardest part is actually walking to the studio from there. I included step by step photos of my personal route from my car. But if you get lost and can't get the studio on the phone, the only business you can walk into and ask is the Krav Maga studio. They are the only ones that know that a dance studio exists nearby them. If you're coming the same route I am it's; 1) Park in the World Market lot or the parking structure. Get out and turn around until World Market is behind you. 2) Look for the parking STRUCTURE and walk towards it (if not already there) 3) With the parking structure on your right, keep walking straight down the alley-like road until you reach the tiny stairway down. 4) Stop and look ahead of you. There is a tiny door that says LADA on it. That is your destination. Notice you have to leap the stairs and/or the fence to just cross straight ahead to it. So maybe don't do that :) 5) Look to the right of the door until you see another one of those ticket booth/arms by the sidewalk. It's probably closed. 6) You'll need to curve around the fence and around the ticket booth to get to the door.
