View of the stage from the last row
Joyce G.

Came here to see comedienne Anjelah Johnson. Purchased the general admission tickets which were reasonably priced. We were seated in the last row, but it was comfortable and it wasn't that far from the stage. The food and drinks were pricey. It's two drink minimum. The pretzel with a dip and the cookies were good, but pricey. The drinks were good. The restroom was clean. Plenty of metered street parking. Read the signs if you park in the residential area!! I would definitely come back.

Laughs were had, easy to check in, servise was solid. Servixe what quick and friendly. Cons: they have swag items on the menu at the table but won't allow you to purchase it at the table. Everything on the menu was about $20, with the cheapest items being chocolate chip cookies for $8 and water at $7. For a party of 2, that's like an extra $100 I was not expecting to spend, on top of parking and tickets to the actual show. Our waiter hassled us about the 2 item requirement and it was not funny. I didn't want to make a scene and got some things, but love that the cookies arrived cold and hard as shit wrapped in plastic, served on one of those gingham paper trays. Classy and matched the vibes of the restrooms - covered in toilet paper and pee. The intro comics were fine, the headliner was fun. Your phones are locked into Yonder bags for the duration of the show. I came out to support the headliner but I'm never coming back to this place again.

A Great Night of Comedy Without the LA Traffic Headache! Flappers Comedy Club in the heart of…read moreBurbank is worth going to they have comedy shows or open mics most every night. Flappers is a good-sized comedy club that gives you the atmosphere you'd expect for a night of stand-up without feeling like you have to navigate the middle of Los Angeles to enjoy yourself. A special shout-out to Maz Jabroni and Luz Pazos, who were both great comedians. Their crowd work was especially funny, and they knew how to interact with the audience and keep things entertaining. As it turned out, mentioning that I was from Bakersfield was all the ammunition they needed. Apparently, Bakersfield became a running topic for the night! They definitely had their fun with that one. And apparently everybody's opinion the Bakersfield is the exact same. And unfortunately not too far from the actual truth. Secondly the food looks horrible on pictures on the website but surprisingly the pizza & wings here were both very good, not a five star meal but maybe a 3.8 for everything. Pretty good food. I had enough issues going for me I wasn't about to let Maz Jabrani see me taking pictures of my food. That's what makes a live comedy show enjoyable: comedians who can work the room, I didn't sit up front to be shy or not be picked on , good comedians can connect with the audience, and make even the people getting picked on part of the entertainment. All in good fun of course. Overall, Flappers delivered a fun night of comedy in Burbank. i took the wife here for her birthday and she really wasn't happy we sat in the front row, luckily I was literally the butt of all of their jokes and they left her unscathed for the night. If you're looking for laughs without taking on the full Los Angeles traffic put Flappers on your list. Get there early before your show so you can find good parking or park someplace and walk it seems to be really safe down there. I'll take a good comedy show and a little Bakersfield roasting any night!

However, the restaurant experience has changed significantly. You now order through your phone with very little interaction with the waitstaff, while prices have increased considerably. The waitress didn't smile once, so the quality of service was minimal to none. I'm understanding, she may have had a bad day. I just mention it because I can't find any positives to balance the negatives. My $19+ Aperol Spritz was mostly ice and juice, with very little taste of alcohol. My mom's $22 chicken tenders and fries were also a big disappointment. There's also an automatic gratuity, followed by an option to add an additional tip, which felt a bit off given the minimal table service. I've had many great nights at Flappers over the years and still enjoy the comedy, but unfortunately, the food, service, and overall value aren't what they used to be.

The theater is small, but intimate, and there is parking along the streets! I'd suggest lining up 20-30 before showtime for the best seats. Once I was healed, I registered for a class, and the class was where I learned the hard way this isn't something I can do. I have a learning disability (diagnosed when I was young) and between that and some OCD, when I went to class I was focusing as much as I could on everything the man teaching it had to say, but because of my issues and trying to keep up with it I eventually started feeling light headed and dizzy, which can happen to me in circumstances like this. I did the best I could to absorb as much info as I could but it moved too fast for me to, and consequentially I flubbed the proceeding group exercises badly and it was clear the rest of the class was on the same page and because of my issues I was not and I could bring them down a bit. So I knew pretty quickly that this wasn't a good idea and I wouldn't be able to fully excel in it, and then I emailed the admin email for UCB explaining this and seeing about a possible partial refund and they left it on read without responding which means they'll keep my $525 because they can. I already know what their first response to this will be- that terms were made clear in the beginning there are no refunds so I admit that I am acting like I should be an exception here (maybe, maybe not) but I just want this to reach some people thinking of enrolling to know that if things don't work out for some reason, you will indeed walk away without getting your money back so keep that in mind.

Although we were all technically legal adults, I still think there is something very sleazy about an authority figure in his 40s swaying 18 and 19 year old aspiring actors to perform nude with him. Of course, he tailored his messaging toward empowerment-- all bodies are great bodies, and all bodies are welcome. The reality, however, was that most of these students were recent L.A. arrivals with little working knowledge of the entertainment industry. It's hard not to recognize the power imbalances at play and potential vulnerabilities being exploited. Having said that, I will not disparage the talent that came out of these shows, and I will commend the owner's rules regarding privacy (no cameras allowed) and hygiene (towel is required).
