Although we were all technically legal adults, I still think there is something very sleazy about an authority figure in his 40s swaying 18 and 19 year old aspiring actors to perform nude with him. Of course, he tailored his messaging toward empowerment-- all bodies are great bodies, and all bodies are welcome. The reality, however, was that most of these students were recent L.A. arrivals with little working knowledge of the entertainment industry. It's hard not to recognize the power imbalances at play and potential vulnerabilities being exploited. Having said that, I will not disparage the talent that came out of these shows, and I will commend the owner's rules regarding privacy (no cameras allowed) and hygiene (towel is required).

Didn't get a chance to chat with her after the show but she's good vibes times ten. The parking in the area is very much street with both residential and metered spots down and around Tujunga Ave between Moorpark and Woodbridge. They do have restrooms inside though theme nights and shows don't typically run too long. Allen Levin, the owner, is a saint fielding calls for questions and managing sales and lineups. Definitely had a great and positive experience with NCLA and would attend again.

Two of the main acts didn't actually come so the lineup was different, the main headliner was still ON the board and didn't come and another act also no showed, both large names I was excited to see and the main point for going and purchasing tickets. However.. there was no big name because both of them didn't show. I had somewhere to be at 10pm, and there's ZERO clocks around this place, phone is locked up, servers are nowhere to be found, it can get irritating just feeling like you're locked in a prison cell with 0 idea of the time. Finally tracked someone down, asked about Whitney Cummings, was told she wasn't coming, and then followed up with the time and it was already 10:10. They also over serve which is probably why they're locking up phones so you loose track of time and keep buying drinks. Guys next to me were PLASTERED, one guy left over and over again to throw up, the other guy was laughing like a hyena and screaming, the other friend had his head down on the table completely knocked out, and last friend went to lay down on the benches and knock out. Spent over $150 and didn't even see the comedians I paid to see. Really disappointing.

Sound quality was clear and the lighting good. Servers checked in often and were mindful about not blocking people's views while taking orders, which I appreciated. They have a pretty large food menu, but I wish they had a larger beer selection. Also, prices are definitely on the higher side. There's also a 2 item minimum. One thing to note is it gets pretty cold when the AC kicks on, though it cycles off at times. Parking is either metered street parking or a paid lot across the street. Overall, a pretty standard comedy venue. Just wish the parking, food, and drinks were a bit cheaper.
