Came here for Netflix Is A Joke and saw Yakov Smirnoff. Overall, pretty solid venue. The setup is good and I feel like you can get a decent view from almost anywhere in the room. Sound quality was clear and the lighting good. Servers checked in often and were mindful about not blocking people's views while taking orders, which I appreciated. They have a pretty large food menu, but I wish they had a larger beer selection. Also, prices are definitely on the higher side. There's also a 2 item minimum. One thing to note is it gets pretty cold when the AC kicks on, though it cycles off at times. Parking is either metered street parking or a paid lot across the street. Overall, a pretty standard comedy venue. Just wish the parking, food, and drinks were a bit cheaper.

Food 3.5/5! Service 4/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 Have not been here just about 15-20 years sheesh! Ambiance was nice in the legendary room! There's a patio area that is covered and Photo Booth area, there's a bar next to the patio area! There's a wall of photos of a bunch of celebs that came here! Overall experience was 4/5!

Intimate venue for comedy performances with good service and a clean restaurant. Entry in is very easy and they show you to your seats when you arrive, plenty of restrooms and a nice patio area as well. The food is typical bar food that is a bit greasy and the portions are on the smaller side. The food is just ok but I guess we go for the show.

Celebrating Juneteenth with sorors, a curated menu and comedy!! The ice house was beautiful! Not sure how many rooms they have but, I saw several!! The restrooms are top tier, although!! I did have a concern if there was a medical emergency in the restroom, due to the noise of the venue and the door was not the typical door to see over the top/bottom that could be awful. Anyway, the menu had many choices and reasonable prices. All the meals came with sides and cornbread. Sadly, they ran out of cornbread!! That's why i ordered red beans and rice!! As a side to my catfish. The food was still good!! It took a while for our food to be served, possibly because of the menu items. My group enjoyed their food.

My husband and I attended a fundraiser at The Ice House, and we had such a nice time with the great service, good food and drinks and ambiance that we'd happily return. We easily found street parking. When you enter there is a friendly hostess at the front who told us how to get back to the main stage. On entering you'll see a wall of comedians photos that is pretty impressive. We made our way down to the entrance to the Ice Box, a private room adjacent to the stage. We were served drinks in the Ice Box, which had plenty of comfortable seating, bottled water, and drink service. I had their watermelon cocktail here, which was $17, like all of their cocktails. It was delicious, made with fresh watermelon juice, tequila, lime juice and soda water, with a slice of fresh watermelon on top. It tasted really good, but I don't think it had much alcohol in it. Next we moved into the main stage area where we first sat in a 2seater with a small table in between the chairs in the pit, but decided to move back further to get a better view and not be right in the action. The hostess was kind enough to show us where the available seats were, and she let us choose which we wanted. We chose the last row of counter seats. I think it was row W seats 17 and 18 which were just perfect for us, as the counter had a place to put our food and drinks directly in front of us, and we could see the action, but not be in the action. The seats are very comfortable by the way. The first comedian was fantastic. I wish I caught her name. I think it was Jen. Another female comedian came on after Jen and she was fantastic as well. Then Jen came back for closing. The two comedians kept us laughing throughout with their clever jokes. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts, the hamburger sliders, and fries. The bowl of sprouts was enormous, and delicious. Highly recommend. I would absolutely order them again, and there is plenty of them in one order - you could probably serve 4 people. Fries came out hot, crispy, salty and delicious. I did not try the sliders but my husband said they were good. I tried the "rising sun" drink. It was vodka, ale, lime, soda I believe and a salted rim. It was delicious. My husband had a grey goose martini which was perfect. Our server was fantastic. She helped me choose my drinks based on the fact that I didn't like anything sweet. She was very attentive and just lovely. There are plenty of restrooms. Bring a sweater as they keep the room pretty cool.

Overall, a bit hit or miss--but still a venue I'm glad Pasadena has. The Ice House Comedy Club consistently brings in some solid comedians and offers a good variety of shows, so it's definitely worth checking the lineup to find something that fits your taste. We went to see Jason Cheney, and unfortunately it seemed like an off night. At one point he even called the crowd "lukewarm," but honestly the bigger issue was that the material just wasn't landing. It happens--even good comedians have off sets--but it did take away from the experience. On the positive side, the logistics are easy. Parking is straightforward, and ticket prices are pretty reasonable compared to other comedy clubs in the area. Like most places, they enforce a two-item minimum, which is expected--but that's where things start to feel a bit overpriced for what you get. The food and drinks were underwhelming. Cocktails tasted watered down, and the food was pretty mediocre overall--not terrible, but definitely not something you'd come for on its own. It feels more like you're paying for the convenience of having service during the show rather than for quality. That said, there's still something enjoyable about the experience. The club has a nostalgic feel that reminds me of going to comedy shows years ago, and there's value in having a local spot where you can catch live stand-up without heading into LA. All in all, it's a very middle-of-the-road experience. If the lineup is strong, it's worth going. Just don't go in expecting great food or drinks--and hope the comedian is on their game that night.

    These were wonderful.

You know what I'm a huge fan of? comedy. You know what I'm not a huge fan of? Anywhere that has "2 item per customer minimum" requirements. When you go and watch a band, you pay for a ticket and you are inside, so why when you go to an hour and a half comedy show do we have to buy 4 things in order to enjoy the show we paid for? Stupid, just stupid. Okay, moving on with the actual review. My wife and I came to The Ice House a few weeks back because Saaniya Abbas was performing and that is something we just couldn't miss. The venue itself is located in an area with tons of parking, places to eat, and desert shops so there's things to do before and after the show, which is nice. Inside the building it's super clean, spacious, and the main room has great vibes to it as well. We were seated pretty close to the stage and since we had to order things, I ordered some garlic fries and a bottle of water and let me say, as much as I wanted to regret the garlic fries they were absolutely delicious and I gobbled them up like a dog eating food it finds on the ground. The water? Well for like $10 a bottle it better of been good water. Overall, I did end up having a blast at The Ice House thanks to one of my favourite rising comedians Saaniya Abbas absolutely killing it. Will I come back in the future? Yeah, probably, and I'll complain to my wife about the minimum then too.

My friend invited me for an early bday gift as I was telling her I wanted to see Jiaoying. This was a Tuesday night on st Patrick's, 2026. We arrived early, found street parking. Our seats were right smack in the middle. Great view, until a tall guy sat in front of me, There is a two item minimum. Which is sorta dumb, but service was excellent! Very well organized. Since soda did not count as an item and I don't drink, I'm glad that they had mocktails. I got the strawberry lemonade. Came in a tall skinny glass with lots of ice for $12. The garlic Parmesan fries and onion rings were ok. $10 each. All in all, I had a good time!

I always have a great time here! Every time I'm there I say "why don't I come more often?" I came to watch a student show and it was really fun. Note that you will have to pay for parking, the lot is across the street. You will also have (2) item minimum of food or drinks INSIDE the venue, stuff at the bar before the show does not count. They take your order up front before the show starts and sneak it to you quietly while the show is happening. Service is great. All the staff is friendly and good at their job. It's a good oiled machine. The cons for me are the food and drinks but I expect very little from food and drinks at a place where you HAVE TO buy stuff...just being real The mixed drinks come pre mixed so you can't change things. My drink was super watery, tastes like cool aid. I order fries and tacos The tacos were highly recommended by the server and I knew better....i should have just ordered the fries-that never came. The tacos weren't bad, they were just not good. They are ground meat topped with cotija cheese-they were very dry. But again, I didn't expect a lot so it doesn't make a difference on whether I'd come back or not.

    Sinbad 2026

I used to watch some comedy show on VHI where Rosie O'donnell was the host and she would bring up comedians on stage to perform. It was filmed here, at the Ice House in Pasadena. My sister recently got tickets to a show here and said, "We're going to see Sinbad on Mother's Day." I had to triple check because last I heard he had a stroke and she said, "That's right, that's him. He's starting to do comedy again." Sinbad was our favorite comedian growing up as kids. We loved all of his movies and watched A Different World religiously and loved his character in the show. I didn't even know the Ice House was still around so this was a very full circle moment. We parked at the parking structure across the street and walked over. The place is intimate and small and that's how it looked all those years ago when I'd see it on VH1. We were the second row back from the stage and had a clear view of everything. His set was SO GOOD! We were happy to see him doing comedy again and he was just as funny, if not funnier and with more conviction, than we remember. I hope you get to see him perform there as it was truly, such a treat.

Parking is a hassle. $15 across the street and all around there is a fee for parking. Lucky if you find street parking. They do not take cash. Debit/Credit or Apple Pay accepted. Small venue. Very clean. There is a bar inside. There is a two item minimum. Evian water is $10 bucks. Soda and Red Bull do not count towards the two item minimum The pepperoni pizza is good. It's not too big. More like a self serving. Restrooms are clean and staff is nice. Only ick is the pay for parking and that they only accept cash. We only had cash on us on Sunday. Thankfully we had someone Apple Pay us lol. This is my two reasons for the 4 stars.

The ice house is a great venue for comedy! I was surprised at how spacious this venue is inside. It has multiple rooms and can hold multiple shows at the same time, a full bar in its own space, a patio vibe lounge area and ample bathrooms and mingling room. Stand ups were great and the drink/food staff was friendly and prompt. Highly impressed by the ice house!

Do I need to print out my tickets?

No need to print, they always scan my ticket from the phone QR code.

Is there free parking or inexpensive parking nearby on the weekends?

Street parking is not hard to find north of Colorado on side streets. There are pay lots on Colorado

Are all seats bar stools or are they fairly comfortable chairs too?

There are tables with decently comfortable chairs in addition to the bar stools right up at the bar. We sat at a four-person table that I think was in a booth. Don't remember it being uncomfortable or anything like that

    NO.....................................

    When is happy hour?

    Happy Hour: 6:30p - 7:30p / 10p - close (Bar and Patio only).

Do they release tickets for sold out events at the last minute if there are some no-shows?

We always take a walk up wait list in the event that anything opens up.

Is there an open mic night?

Our Open Mics are Wednesday’s 7pm sign up, 8pm show

    How's the food here?

I enjoy their food and drinks. I have not been disappointed yet with any of my selections. My husband has been happy too

How large is this venue? How many people does it hold for a comedy show?

I've been told the main room seats 200, which sounds about right. The second stage is much smaller, probably half that, if not less. They're both small, intimate rooms. Perfect for comedy.

    What is the age minimum?

I believe 18 for the early shows and 21 for the late shows.

I was pleasantly surprised when I sent an email to the address on the website and received a reply with the password in a little over thirty minutes. After parking, we didn't have any problems finding the entrance even though it is not marked. Look for the big wood double doors and doorman standing in front. After giving him the password, he opened the doors and we walked in. We were surprised in several ways. The place is way bigger than I would expect for a place named "The Speakeasy". And at 6:30pm on a Sunday, we were the only guests inside. Only one other couple came in during the 30 minutes we were there. I would assume they are a lot busier on Friday and Saturday night. It is dimly lit, and very red inside. The bar is large with many bottles of liquor on display and many seats. The rest of the space is one large area that must have at least 20 tables, and the ceiling is high. It gives off more of a nightclub vibe than a speakeasy vibe. I tried the Naked & Famous cocktail which has two of my favorite spirits (Vida mezcal, aperol, yellow Chartreuse, lime, $18). It was nicely balanced with a good mix of smoke and herbal flavor. She had the Pablo's Poison (Altos reposado tequila, strawberry, lime, jalapeno, elderflower, $17). The jalapeno flavor really stood out with strawberry and elderflower in the background. They have a good cocktail menu with almost twenty cocktails, as well as a food menu with ten items. Walk up to the bar to order your drinks. Jeremy, the manager, and the female bartender whose name who I didn't get were nice. We aren't in Pasadena very often, and while they have a good cocktail menu, I don't know if we would return. We were expecting more.

When we walked in, there was a tall, bald male bartender and a blonde female bartender working--neither of whom I've seen here before. We ordered two drinks, but the service from the male bartender was inattentive from the start. At one point, my friend tried to get someone's attention to ask for a lime and wasn't acknowledged. She ended up grabbing a lime herself from the garnish tray--which I understand isn't ideal--but the response we got was completely out of line. The male bartender became immediately hostile and started aggressively cursing at my friend. When I calmly asked the female bartender if this was normal behavior, he inserted himself into the conversation and said, "she put her fucking hand in the fucking jar," in a very confrontational tone. I tried to de-escalate the situation and respectfully explained that there was no reason to speak to us that way, but he continued the hostility and ultimately told us to "get the fuck out." At that point, I paid for our drinks and we left. What made this especially disappointing is that this has never been our experience here before. We've always enjoyed this bar and have had positive interactions with the regular staff. If this had been my first visit, I would not come back. I understand that what my friend did wasn't appropriate, but it absolutely did not justify being yelled at and cursed out. I hope management addresses this, because this kind of behavior is not reflective of the bar I've come to know.

My group arrived after the grace period, which I completely understand is our responsibility. The issue wasn't that our reservation couldn't be honored--it was how the situation was handled. We had difficulty finding parking, which caused the delay, and I tried reaching the restaurant by both phone and message to let them know. Unfortunately, I was only able to reach an AI system, so there was no way to speak with someone directly. When we arrived, I politely explained what had happened to the hostess, but instead of showing any understanding, she was dismissive and hostile. She repeatedly said she was busy and told us our only options were a high-top table or seats at the bar. One of the people in our party was pregnant, yet no effort was made to accommodate her or consider that a bar seat or high chair wasn't appropriate. Thankfully, our server was incredibly kind and immediately found my pregnant friend a more comfortable chair, which we truly appreciated. However, what made the situation even more frustrating was that an empty standard table sat directly in front of us for over an hour. It remained available the entire time, yet no one ever offered to move us or even checked whether we would like to switch. The service from our server was excellent and the food was great, but the lack of empathy and hospitality from the hostess really overshadowed what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. You reach a phone booth, pick up the phone, and wait for someone to buzz you in. This bar is different from the other two bars as it's smaller, more intimate, and focused on craft cocktails. On nights and weekends though, it can still get busy. We ordered a variety of drinks and liked the menta milk punch ($18), last word ($18), and queen's park swizzle ($16). This was my first time here and I would be interested in coming back and also check out the tiki bar too. This is a cool place to go as part of your bar hopping in Old Town Pasadena.

When you enter the 35er, you take the stairs (closer to the back door) and there's a phone booth. Pick up the phone and the bartender will ask how many in your party before letting you in. The space is small. Some reviews mentioned tiki bar and this is not a tiki bar, it's a speakeasy. They have a cocktail menu and a full bar for well/cocktails. Great place for a small group.

Waiter Manuel. This…read moreis a review reflected on you, solely. Being kind is the moral of the story, from the beginning you were passive agressive with your comments and tone. Being in a party of 4 girls coming from high tea, we were dressed in elegant dresses, first comment was asking if we were coming from church, followed by eye flutters, short "okay" with an upward inflation to a joke about the day, an impatient comment about hurrying up and trying the wine while we were talking, asked for water when we were out, were left to pour the rest of our wine, didn't ask how the food was all the while was attentive to the table behind us, the cherry on top comment was when we were discussing the bill at the end, he was hovering at the table behind ours, then when we were ready, we asked to split the bill into 2, my portion on mine and the rest on another card, he then said "this isn't like a drive through, we can't do it that way" so I asked him to explain his comment, cause it was passive agressive and rude. After he wasnt able to becuase he wasnt expecting me to call out his rude comment, I had to then break it down and specify what I had ordered, he then sold "okayyyy....so how much, cause we don't itemize?" I had to again express for him to specify how they do it cause he has still yet to explain where his attitude is coming from and explain how they do their check splits, from my understanding it just felt like he wanted to play dumb and make me to the math, one I did he was like "ohh, okay" should have asked for the manager but we paid and left, I hasnt had this experience before being a returning customer, but he needs an attitude adjustment as his attitude was completely out of pocket. Do better Manuel, you alone got your place of work a 1 star. The rest of the staff was kind, facility beautiful and food and wine was good. This restaurant is not reflected in the 1 star.

This bar is tucked inside Vroman's Bookstore (already one of the most charming and iconic bookstores in the area) so the entire experience feels like stepping into a warm, literary universe. You can browse for a new book, take in the bookstore's atmosphere, and then walk straight into the bar. Honestly, it's the perfect outing. What makes 1894 truly special is how intentionally it celebrates literature. Everything in the bar pays homage to the bookstore. The drink menu is full of clever, book-inspired names. You'll find cocktails like Pride and PearJudice Pride, Fifty Shades of Earl Grey, and other fun literary twists. Every drink feels like a little wink to readers, writers, and book lovers, and it adds such a unique charm to the experience. The vibe is super quaint and warm, dim lighting, and a creative atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. The wine is on the pricier side ($19-$21 per glass), but the quality delivers. Customer service was excellent. One of the bartenders spent time chatting with us. He pointed out a chalk artwork behind the bar a dramatic portrait he drew himself featuring expressive, literary-style faces, like Edgar Allan Poe, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, etc. It fits perfectly with the creative, bookish aesthetic of the bar. If you're into books, wine, and unique experiences, 1894 is a spot you absolutely can't miss. Perfect for a date, a solo unwind-with-a-book moment, or a fun night with friends who appreciate a good story and a great drink.

On top of that, the beauty and the beast drink comes in a cute rose shaped glass which matches the name perfectly! The servers were very attentive and would check in on us periodically.
