My gripe with every comedy club is that it should really be a two item requirement and not two drinks. I don't drink and I don't want to justify having to buy two water bottles. Every Sunday, they have different comedians and it's called "Chocolate Sundays". Mostly a lot of African American comedians are performing for Chocolate Sundays. They really make me laugh. It's 2 items minimum for drinks. I had the Blackberry Whiskey sour ($18), and bottled water. My friend also had the same cocktail and bottled water. Service by Sarah was great in every way! I can't comment on the food, because we had already eaten. I have had their food in the past, and it's just OK. Bar food. What do you expect? She invited me for her birthday and normally the tickets are $20 for each person. Parking is valet, $17.00. We parked outside. I HATE valet, and don't trust them from previous experiences at different places. Place is very clean, bathrooms needed attention. If you ever get the chance and the opportunity, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. They had 2 shows. We went to the one for 9pm, since the 7pm one was already sold out. Before I could even respond, the dog came blasting out through the door and tried to attack my dog. The owner then hit his dog and grabbed the dogs collar and started dragging the dog towards the door. When they got back to the front door, the guy asked again if I was taking a class. I told him no, I'm just responding to a text, in a public area and your dog almost attacked mine. He responded "shut up, b*tch". Violent and aggressive behavior across the board.

They have a coffee shop by day (opens at 9am) and then they have the stage & sell drinks by night (starting about 6pm). I was happy they had some GOOD craft beers on the menu, as well. I wished the staff was a little more friendly but it was a busy night. The venue itself is great for smaller comedy shows with good sound & lighting quality. They also do mini concerts, drag, theater shows, storytelling - really anything you can think of that needs a stage with 85 seats. Once I was healed, I registered for a class, and the class was where I learned the hard way this isn't something I can do. I have a learning disability (diagnosed when I was young) and between that and some OCD, when I went to class I was focusing as much as I could on everything the man teaching it had to say, but because of my issues and trying to keep up with it I eventually started feeling light headed and dizzy, which can happen to me in circumstances like this. I did the best I could to absorb as much info as I could but it moved too fast for me to, and consequentially I flubbed the proceeding group exercises badly and it was clear the rest of the class was on the same page and because of my issues I was not and I could bring them down a bit. So I knew pretty quickly that this wasn't a good idea and I wouldn't be able to fully excel in it, and then I emailed the admin email for UCB explaining this and seeing about a possible partial refund and they left it on read without responding which means they'll keep my $525 because they can. I already know what their first response to this will be- that terms were made clear in the beginning there are no refunds so I admit that I am acting like I should be an exception here (maybe, maybe not) but I just want this to reach some people thinking of enrolling to know that if things don't work out for some reason, you will indeed walk away without getting your money back so keep that in mind.

Dynasty Typewriter hosts a variety of live show types from comedy stand up to podcast tapings to…read moresmall concerts. The building is old school opened in 1926 as a Vaudeville house so it's always been entertaining. It's had different iterations over the years, most recently the Hayworth Theatre. Then in 2018 it officially became Dynasty Typerwriter Now the theater is in Westlake, right next to MacArthur Park where many of Los Angeles' unhomed population lives. So yes you can search and find street parking, but if you have a nicer car it may be better to just not risk it and park in the nearby parking garage - 611 S Carondelet Street. Rideshare is ideal though. It's a small theater (200 seats) so if you are hoping for a close up seat to see better or get in on some crowd work, you should arrive when doors open. I am quite the opposite and enjoy a good view, but sitting far outside of the crowd-work arena! Give me a good seat on the side back a few rows and I'm happy. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE crowdwork, just not aimed at me. I've seen Tig Notaro and Marc Maron here - obviously both great shows and I enjoyed them! When you sit in the seat, prepare for a little trip. They glide! haha It's kind of weird but kind of fun that they slide a bit but I see it shocking everyone when they first sit down so prepare yourself. They are the kind of seats that start hurting after sitting for an hour so my fellow ADHD peoples, prepare to do a lot of shifting in your seat. They have good canned beer options, including a couple of NA which is nice. Also full concession stand for snacks, including their special popcorn. Staff is friendly and I always enjoy this venue! I will absolutely be back.
