Los Uff Das holiday show at Tao Comedy

Great venue. Incredibly supportive environment. I've never been to a bad show at Tao. I've rented the space for shows I've produced and everything has always been stellar. It has what may truly be the cleanest bathrooms in all of Los Angeles.

Very supportive and safe environment to learn to do standup! I took my first ever standup class there and felt confident after that class. Bobbie is a pro!

Tao Comedy Studio is one of the best places in L.A. to both perform comedy and see comedy. Whether you're new to standup or a seasoned performer, Tao Comedy has a fun vibe, and hosts a diverse group of comics. At the heart of its success is owner/comedian Bobbie Oliver, a veteran comedian who also runs fantastic standup comedy classes. I speak from experience, as I've taken several. And I love their open mics, my favorite being the Monday night Women's Mic, a safe and supportive place to try out new jokes. Whether you want to watch comedy, or perform comedy, check out Tao Comedy Studio! You won't be disappointed.

Best of the $5 Comedy Clubs. Biggest audience, also the acoustical set-up amplifies the audiences' laughter.

Much love for #nohaterboss I love the company studio because they accept through no matter who you are as long as you come with your truth and with the intention to make people laugh, that's the best part about it being allowing us to do that. Thank you.

Ask the Community - Tao Comedy Studio

Can anyone go to watch open mic night on Fridays? Also, is there an entrance fee?

Yes, you are welcome to come watch. It's $5, outdoors on the heated patio. See you there!

How old do you have to be to attend a show?

There is no age limit but all audience members must remain respectful to our performers and clients. Parents of small children should be prepared for off color language and mature themes.

Any age restrictions for the Saturday night shows?

You're right in it with the performers, which made the whole night feel properly fun. The crowd was up for it, the energy kept building. The lineup and head liner, Craig Robinson, seemed promising....sadly, that was not the case. We arrived at 7:25 PM (doors were supposed to be open at 7:15 PM). We were told to come back in 10-20 minutes. There was no line or people in sight. We went in close to 8:00 PM and in total we were about 15-20 people spread out in seats. There were probably like 200 seats plus booths. I looked at their IG page and this show was not promoted at all. By the end of the night I think only like 10-15 of us remained (including staff). The comedians really didn't seem like they wanted to be there and sadly Craig Robinson spent his entire set sitting at his keyboard playing random songs. He must have scrolled through his phone like 15x looking for jokes and nothing was landing. Every single comedian told D jokes, which I don't mind them here and there but it was excessive from all of them and just not landing with the 15 of us there. I've been to many comedy shows and this was just awkward. Drinks are overpriced and there wasn't food...maybe a cheese thing, but that's all.

Although we were all technically legal adults, I still think there is something very sleazy about an authority figure in his 40s swaying 18 and 19 year old aspiring actors to perform nude with him. Of course, he tailored his messaging toward empowerment-- all bodies are great bodies, and all bodies are welcome. The reality, however, was that most of these students were recent L.A. arrivals with little working knowledge of the entertainment industry. It's hard not to recognize the power imbalances at play and potential vulnerabilities being exploited. Having said that, I will not disparage the talent that came out of these shows, and I will commend the owner's rules regarding privacy (no cameras allowed) and hygiene (towel is required).

Real mad at the comedy store…read more First, we bought tickets to see Tiffany Haddish. She is an idol of mine. Her sense of humor is off the chain. But last night she was not on her game. She wasn't prepared. She wasn't funny. And she kept asking the audience if they had questions. Now I realize this is not the comedy store's fault. After all, she is a superstar. But what is their fault is that I called ahead and asked if Sunset Boulevard was open after a Watermain break. And they assure me that it was. Well, it wasn't. Which made me 45 minutes late for the show. So the Stage seats that I bought we're not available. And I was relegated to seats near the wall, where the talent was never facing me so you couldn't hear what they were saying. Their voices were muffled and you could only hear half the jokes. And that is the fault of the comedy store. They should have a better sound system that's not muffled so everybody in the audience can hear even if you're near the wall. It's so annoying to be within blocks of your target venue and still be 45 minutes late because of construction. Which they should be well aware of. So my evening was not at all pleasant. I was late for the show. The show sucked. We left halfway through.
