Really good food here as always. If I were to change anything I would offer more food that isn't as heavy.

One of our favorite places to eat. Great food & atmosphere. Mean Beans are a must to try! Too many favorites to list. The seasonal margarita's are to die for. In the fall they make one with apple cider and lots of sugar on the rim, my all time favorite! As for the staff.....We love them all! Great atmosphere, great location, food not bad (except don't order the steamers, super dry and tough and no flavor), but our party of 8 adults will not return to this establishment. We asked our server to do separate checks for two of the four couples for convenience in paying at the end. Some of us needed to charge our dinners while others were paying cash. When the bill came, it was all together, nothing separated. We asked our server to separate the bill (again) as we had asked when we placed our orders. His response: I will have to speak to my manager. He walked over to the manager, talked to him for less than 3 seconds, gave the manager our bill. The manager came over to our table and put the exact same bill on our table and said "Here's your bill" and walked away. That meant we sat there trying to determine who had what and how to divide the bill fairly. Ruined our evening. None of us will return. They need better management and better customer service policies. There are just too many great restaurants in this area to waste any more of our time or money at Red House. read more

Tried this for the first time on a Saturday night. Arrived around 9:45 and was told the kitchen was closed but I could order from the late night menu. For a Saturday night it seems awful early to shut down the kitchen but I realize it's not a big city. Place was busy and very noisy. A band playing in main room and a big birthday party in the bar where I sat. When they say late night menu it is really, really, limited. Not much to choose from. I had gone in wanting to try their Fish Taco's and their Margarita's which I heard were good. The late night menu only offered about 5 choices. Nachos's, Quessadilla, Wings, Pig Tails....might have been one more choice. Settled on the Nacho's and a Margarita. Nacho's were very ordinary and the Margarita was served in a tiny cocktail glass (read not much Margarita) and it tasted like dishwater with a little alcholol in it. Not very impressed. Really wanted to try it for dinner but after the first experience I'd be hesitant to give it a second try. read more

We were a large group so we made reservations for our 7 p.m. dinner on a Saturday night. Despite our reservation we had to wait at least a half hour to be seated. The hostess acted as if it was no big deal. Once seated a free drink for each of us would have seemed in order - but it didn't happen. And the food was so/so, not worth going back for; tasteless pulled pork, and a very stingy portion of french fries. Some folks ordered desserts that were overpriced, dry, and tasteless. Really a shame - seems like they could have a lock on the market in this small town. read more

I don't review restaurants often......however when I read Sandy H's review of Red House I was surprised. I sat next to their table the night they were in and remember overhearing the big deal they made about the bill. The server they had was the same we had and have had him several times. He could not be anymore polite and professional. He explained that its the restaurants policy not to split checks the way they requested, but he would take as many payments for the bill as they wanted---as he did for us that same evening. He went further to explain to both our tables the policy was printed on the menu. If your night was seriously ruined by having to figure out how much you had to pay, maybe your a little too high maintenance to be going out to eat! The server couldn't have been nicer about the while incident and doesn't deserve the review. read more

My boyfriend and I went there last night for dinner and it was amazing. From the second we walked in everyone was incredibly welcoming. Our waiter, Derek, was wonderful! He really knew what he was talking about when it came to both the drink and dinner menu. The downtown Deep River area was super cute too so it added a nice feeling. Came in here based on the reviews and proximity. It was early, maybe 4:20, when we came in for an early dinner and so we were some of the few people in here. The service was subpar. When my companion asked for an ingredient left off the nachos, the waitress made a face. In general, she acted like waiting on us was an inconvenience which was a shame. After our order was put in we didn't see her again at our table until the check even though we did see her standing around. A young man brought out our food right as we were about to leave without food. Thanks, young man! But a 45 min wait for food in an empty restaurant is kind of unacceptable. Especially without the waitress coming over and at least saying something. As for the food, the nachos were pretty good. But the steak frites were a failure. The steak was barely warm when it came out to the table and I was shocked that it was literally 1/3 fat which is pretty unusual for a steak frites steak. I wish I would tell you about dessert but we just didn't have another 40 minutes to wait for it. read more

If you want to have a wonderful dining experience, this is the definition of it. Right from walking through the door, you just knew everything was going to be good. It was a well oiled machine. The gentleman who greeted us couldn't have been genuinely nicer and had a clear understanding of what was going on. Our server accommodated any question we had and was what you would describe as elite. Not once did we have to wait long for any kind of service and it showed that all of the servers were on their game without being overbearing. We opted for a special prefix menu and a Cobb salad. The app that came out were smoked salmon tacos. Everything about this dish was flawless. From the presentation, to the perfect balance of flavors, left me in anticipation for what was next to come. Well, it didn't disappoint. The burger came out with a house made English muffin and a battered onion ring. The cheese was melted perfectly and the sauce complimented the burger to a T. The most important part I noticed was the burger was cooked properly. The fries were good and hot as they should be. The Cobb salad was carefully put together with rows of ingredients. The vinegarette was great as well. The lava cake was presented nicely and you could tell passion went into it. Last but not least, the drinks were great. Everything about this place was a great experience. The restaurant looked inviting, it was clean, well put together and had the staff and food to back it up. Food is OK, yet the portions are tiny for the price you that pay for an entrée. I had the "Crispy Chicken" which consisted of about a 3 ounce portion of chicken, overcooked baked beans and dry grilled asparagus (no starch) for $15.00. The atmosphere is very loud, you can't even hear the person across from you in a conversation. (think dining hall). Our group of 4 had dinner last weekend and we were all impressed. As we ate everyone kept saying, "Wow this is good." True, there aren't a ton of draft beers available but we all ordered mixed drinks and were pleased with them. The burgers are amazing. I ordered mine medium and that's exactly what I got. And the homemade fries are outstanding!! It's got a great vibe. Lots of people brought their kids, so apparently it's kid friendly. Really great service. This is my fifth visit and the waitstaff is pleasant, helpful, and prompt. The food has progressively gone from good to really good to outstanding. Been here three times, and the first two times were decent as far as service goes... Very nice waiter, food was decent...not spectacular but average. If my review was based on my most recent visit it would be probably 2 stars since it was not a very pleasant experience. Two of us had loaded pork nachos as our meal, and one had the burger. The nachos came out in 10 minutes, the burger came out 15 minutes later... Kind of rude that one person in our party has to wait 15 minutes for their meal to come out when everyone else either waits while their food gets cold, or finishes before the other meal arrives. When the burger came out it was so bland. I have personally ordered the redhouse burger here before and it was ok, but this time it was just bad. Maybe it was the weekday staff that made things different, im not sure... What i am sure of is that from all the things ive tried on the menu the only thing that stands out and is worth raving about is The loaded pork nachos. read more

Service was slow and inattentive. The 2 beers we ordered got mixed up, and then waited a lengthy time for water. I had to ask for bread, which was corn bread and delicious. The kale and beetroot salad starter was tasteless and small, and when the waitress asked how it was, i told her this, but she didnt believe me and laugjed and thought i was joking. I let this go, asked for more bread and proceeded with the main course. Well....the meat combo was delicious, tender and tasty. The plate of fries was limp and cold, and the macaroni and cheese was bland, dry and overcooked. Oh, and they had ran out of bread!! Huh....yep, no more bread at 7.45pm!!! When i got the attention of the waitress, which was a feat in itself, she must have known by my face that i was not joking. She took the fries away, but told me I would have to speak to the manager about the mac cheese. He comes over, apologizes and askes if i want to take it home!! NO, I DONT LIKE IT, why even ask!!!! He then handed me a $10 card to use on my next visit, which will be never. All around, awful experience with food and service. Stay away. read more

Was looking for a comfortable place for a weekend lunch, and wow my wife and I found it, The Red House in Deep River was just what we needed. The service was great, our food was AWESOME (Burger for me /Crab cake for my wife) and we enjoyed the hard rock cafe feel to the place. We also met the owners, Mark and Rob, two of the nicest people, you can tell the passion they have for good food and taking care of the customer, how refreshing. We were able to sample some adult beverages they infuse with things like basil, great ideas for food and drinks, now that's my kind of place! They are now open for lunch on the weekend, otherwise dinner only. I have not seen any live music they provide, but word on the street is this is where you want to be and be seen. They have music occasionally on weekday nights also, which shakes things up a little. I gave four stars but maybe it should be a full five. Next I want to sit in the bar area, looks comfortable with all the music decor. Go to this restaurant and try the varied menu, you will be happy you did. Love it!!! read more

Went there on a tip. Ordered one of the burgers (not sure which). Came on a huge bun (can I eat this?). Tried the French Fries first, always do that, while they were hot. Some of the best I've had in quite a while. Took one bite of the burger and again I was pleasantly surprised. The Brioche roll was light and flavorful. I finish it all with little effort. Pretty good place, food was good and with good options, interesting decor. Did not care for the service, our waiter seemed forgetful and the food was very late. We were not in a rush, so it did not affect our dining, but they definitely need to improve service. It started off as a beautiful Thursday evening. We just dropped off Art stuff at the Chester fair and decided to go to Red House for dinner. Because it was a beautiful night we wanted to sit outside and eat there were three tables already occupied. and one was available. When we met with the hostess he told us that he would have to check with management and see if outside was still available. He came back with 30 seconds later and told us he was very sorry but we would have to eat inside they were breaking down outside. We left and went to the River Tavern in Chester. Ya-hoo!! Finally a good restaurant that stands by what it serves. Tonight my 15 year old (finicky eater) daughter and I tried out a new restaurant in a small town near us. We were both hungry and just wanted a good meal, well this was the best!! The menu offered everything from burgers to jambalaya--exactly what we got , and it was excellent. The portions were large and well priced, we walked away stuffed and had left overs to boot. I highly recommend the red house not only for it's great food but fun decor as well. We went for the first time tonight. LOVED IT. The decor is great, very comfortable, and Gary aka "Duke" was fantastic and attentive. This was our first visit to the Red House and were very excited to try this new place. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was great and we were welcomed warmly and seated promptly upon our arrival. The menu has so many wonderful choices and the specials were even better. Our children were excited to get a coloring menu with a box a crayons that kept them busy until our food arrived. My husband who has dietary issues asked to speak with the chef to get some ideas on what he may be able to eat. The Chef (Dave) was super accommodating and whipped up a meal for him that was fantastic. On that alone we will be back. It is very rare that a restaurant can accommodate his needs. Two of us in our party had the crab cake sandwich special that was absolutely delicious. Fish Tacos and Eggplant Tower got high marks as well. Kids were happy too! Our sever was very attentive and did a great job! If you haven't visited the Red House, you are missing out on a great place. This place is noisy, filled with happy people, active, and serves pretty good food. It's not "Fine Dining." It is a good value meal with some entrees that are not normally seen on menus in this area. Our party of 8 was seated at one of the front tables next to the window. Perfect. At the end of the meal, there were 8 clean plates. This alone is a testament to the good food. Not that everything was perfect though. A baseball steak looked more like a hockey puck, but tasted delicious. My brisket didn't have the smoke level that I like, but still was quite good. The fries were some of the best I've had recently. Some say the portions are too small. I say they are just right! I no longer want to have huge portions of food (and the associated price) that require a take home container. Sensible portions are served and appreciated. This place is very kid friendly as well. All in all, this is a go-to place for a nice dinner with friends and family when you don't want stuffy, you don't want pricey, and you do want good food, drink, and conversation (although you may need to talk just a little bit louder to be heard). As an added bonus, somehow they have music on some evenings. This isn't Carnegie Hall. Hopefully their choice of muscians understand the acoustics of steel ceilings, cement floors, and brick walls. no stars, went yesterday- the owner must be away on vacation omg, the two men waiters were terrible, grumpy, customers left. we stayed, the fish tacos were gross,make them off the menu! the Bloody Mary was so salty, this pub does that on purpose, salt it so you drink more. very disappointing. same with their sister establishment. sorry to say, I wouldn't write such a poor review but it was a gorgeous day, and too bad the restaurant wasn't up to its groove. they just shouldn't have opened at all. read more

Let me start by saying the only thing better than the food was the service. We sat down and within seconds we have some very tasty corn bread. They took our drink order and appetizer order which came out in a bit under 7 minutes. We had the pig wings. The flavor was just amazing. Our waiter was fantastic and had the best personality; he had us in tears with his humor. He knew the menu back and forth and made some excellent recommendations. It was a perfect night out and was totally what the Saturday night called for. We sat around for a while just enjoying the place and the music along with the staff who looked in on us every chance they had. I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Saturday with good friends. We have been to the Red House twice... first time was Halloween night 2013. We were one of maybe 3 tables with customers (weeknight) and the service was beyond slow and inattentive. I had the jambalaya, which was dry...as if it had been sitting in the pot on the stove all day long. The second visit was just last weekend on Sat. night...went w/friends to see a band. We had reservations and still waited 20+minutes for a table. The place was packed, so there was no where to stand (no room at the bar) except by the front door/hostess station. The manager (?) made a gruff comment to "keep the corridor clear" as he came through...no greeting, just an impolite comment in passing. Food was just ok...had the tuna tacos...black beans were under cooked and kind of crunchy. The band was talented, especially the 12 yr old boy who guested on guitar--incredible! However, the band seemed to have a following of their own filling the restaurant that night, and as they called out friends names, birthdays, etc. it felt very much like we had mistakenly crashed a private party... uncomfortable. Service was terrible...after our food came out, the waitress disappeared for about an hour. My friend flagged her down to order dessert and was told that they don't serve dessert after 9:30pm....uh, had she come back to check on us, we would have ordered before the cut off...and...whats so hard about putting a dessert on a plate after a certain hour? Its just sitting in your fridge...and you have folks who want to BUY it...makes zero sense. Unless we hear of a really great band playing and we have already eaten dinner, we won't be back. My husband was not impressed with the limited and ordinary beer selections, and the over all experience, both visits. =/ read more

Terrible. In from out of town for a seminar decided this place around 730pm on a sunday night. It was four of us total. Not many people there at all which scared me. Atmoshpere is cool. Food was fast and ok. Our server interrupted us at least 4 times while someone was in mid sentence. She would say excuse me ladies .. Blah blah blah ., many times it was really rude. My friend had gotten sick maybe from traveling who knows, but she took a morcel size of a bite of her food and thats it. Fast forward the server couldnt seprate the check it was literally this side of the table on this card and vice versa.. She said but then id have to figure out the tax.. We were stunned being server myself we all know you can split a check. And she certainly didnt ask to remove my friends food she didnt touch. They turned the lights out in the area beside us. No one left in the place.. They had a bar and closing by 9? Terrible, food was forgettable. Only good thing about it was my beer. read more
