Last time I was in Chicago, I hit up 35th Street Red Hots (Same Owners) and had a great hot dog and amazing french fries. I decided to stop at RHR on my way to the airport for a hot dog and fries. First time going to RHR wasn't expecting the food to be amazing since it's so cheap compared to most places nowadays so it's whatever it's really the staff that makes this place bad. I came in not knowing it's cash only but saw the sign and ATM so I immediately went to the ATM and got out $40. I go ahead and order and she says she can't take my cash because it's damaged. The staff can clearly see me go to the ATM and take out cash but she states that she has no proof of me taking out the cash. I explain that I can show her the charge on my card of $42 ($2 fee) but she doesn't care. What's the point in having an ATM if you can't accept the own money that comes out of it. I leave to my car to see if I have any loose change laying around and luckily I do but as I leave she tells my wife "try using that money in any other store" with attitude. (I later go to another store and they accepted it perfectly normal.) A white man goes to the ATM while me and my wife are eating and his cash is perfectly fine for them now. Staff are typically reasonably friendly and move quickly. They have a parking lot with outdoor seating, which is nice, no indoor seating though. Usually pretty busy especially at standard meal times. Their hours are also very convenient, huge plus to be open so late so consistently. As far as the food goes, I would say don't bother with the hotdogs. I don't think they're anything special, taste comparable to any other really (I personally like my hotdogs more well-done/grilled, and these are not that). The standard toppings are also average. They do come with fries on top, and the fries are decent, but it's very difficult to eat the hotdog with the fries so you end up scraping them off and often losing some other toppings as you do it. The burgers are definitely the thing to get. Reasonably priced and you get a lot of food for it. I've rarely ever finished the double cheeseburger and all the fries, and I typically order multiple meals from fast food places. The burger quality is good for what it is - fast, cheap, simple. It won't blow you away if you've had any kind of gourmet burger in your life, but if this place is convenient for you to visit and you need a quick and reliable burger and fries, you can't knock it. They also offer fried shrimp that I have not tried, nor have I ever heard someone order them. In summary, great spot for a low-cost no frills burger.
