Ordered large cob pizza and fried ravioli. The person on the phone said the order would be delivered in an hour. I called at 7 and the delivery guy was at my house at 7:19. There wasn't a single warm spot on the pizza but the ravioli was so hot it burned our mouths. The pizza was clearly not fresh, and was made well before we even called. I finally got the chance to order an entree. I was kind of forced to because companion didn't want pizza, and wanted appetizers. I haven't had veal and peppers in eons. It was really delicious, but it was damned strange that spaghetti is offered on the side, and it didn't look right until I dumped it on the plate and mixed it all together. I had a bite of Italian sausage, also very good. We ordered the fried mushrooms and a dipping sauce. They're fabulous and plentiful by themselves. We got the double antipasto, loaded with meat and a normal Italian dressing. I kept complaining we only needed the single, but we managed to eat it all. It's one of the nicest ones I've ever had. For you drinkers, he ordered a martini, and it came in what appeared to be a large shot glass. Even I could tell it was skimpy. I will never go back to this restaurant. My husband and I went for dinner. He ordered a pizza and side of french fries. I ordered a sirlon steak and baked potato. My husbands pizza comes out and nothing else. About 8 minutes go by and finally the side of fries and my steak dinner come out. I ordered my steak well done....I cut into it and it was still very raw (so raw it look like a blood bath) So the waiter takes it back. So mind you that my husband has already had a head start eating his food, now I have to wait again. Well I did start on my potato. So now my husband is done eating his dinner and goes and plays lotto. My steak finally comes back out. Still raw. All they did was burn the outside. So I'm frustrated and decide to try and get some of the steak down. Well as I cut into it, there is a huge piece of fat running thru the whole thing. So now, not only is it not cooked, it has fat in it. Great. I tell my husband to just get the check. The waiter comes back over and tells me he is sorry. Sorry. Whats that gonna do. That's not going to make my hunger go away. So now I have to pay $20.95 for a dinner I could not eat besides the potato. And all the waiter says is sorry. read more

I've been ordering from this place for more than 10yrs. I'm sad to say they may be in decline as far as quality goes. Ordered a 6 cut for delivery from a couple of blocks away. Waited an hour, the pizza was cold & burnt, & to top it off they forgot the condiments that I was charged extra for(still gave a tip). The Delivery driver said they'll be right back with it(again the place is 2-3 blocks away), after waiting another 20 mins I called the place to ? Where the rest was & (2b fair Yes the lady who answered did apologize) then told me there was alot of other deliveries they had also .. I would think you would try to get the current correct b4 moving on to the next, but that's just my opinion.. We got delivery from here and it was great. cOb pizza, buffalo shrimp, a salad. Everything was fresh and tasty. Their homemade bleu cheese dressing is so so yummy I can eat it with a spoon. However,,,we ate in one night and honestly I would NEVER go back. I will just order delivery and pretend that night never happened. We got the buffalo shrimp and King Crab Legs for apps. Yeah...we were feeling along the splurge side, don't judge. But we figured if they had the darn crab legs on the menu and we paid market price of 40 bucks for them alone they would've brought them out to us dancing the jig. To our disappointment they didn't even bring those little forks to crack them open with (they were pre-split, just not enough). Also they were (GASP) overcooked. The meat came out in crumbles. We scrambled to get them open before they were ice cold, dumped the shards of meat onto a plate, poured the butter on them and ate them like that. We also had to request a separate bowl for the shells. And no...no lemon. Not a wedge to be found. Sigh. I ordered the chicken/eggplant parm dish. The chicken was a healthy portion and breaded/cooked just right. The eggplant was a bit soggy and there was a ton of it on top of the chicken, in my opinion it was overkill. Their sauce is yummy so that's a plus. My boyfriend got the penne chicken ala vodka and it was really good and I kept stealing forkfuls from his plate. Was it good enough to go back? No. I've had the same or better in other places without a tv blaring over my head in the far front dining area. I don't agree there should be a tv back there for anything but the quick draw. Keep it in the tavern area. I can still hear that as it is. Will we get delivery? Sure. I would even order a pasta dish for delivery, but their service and ambiance doesn't cut it for a night out to eat. read more

One of my favorite Italian joints. Penne with vodka sauce is pretty good but they are known for their cob pizza (cheese on bottom and sauce on top). It's delicious... The moment I walked in here I was a little worried... There was no hostess stand to be found & it felt like we were just standing in the middle of the place waiting to be seated. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, there were five sticks in the order which they charge $6.50 for. I would feel less taken advantage of if there were made in house, but there were obviously the frozen kind you can buy at Sam's (or anywhere) and heat up yourself easily at home. My side salad was drowning in dressing and the service was really slow. The house sauce was extremely bland and disappointing. I'm looking for some good local (not chain) places to eat, Red Front is not going to make the list. To be fair, we did not try the pizza- but I still don't think we'll go back. read more

Ordered a cob pizza and medium wings with extra blue cheese for delivery. Friendly over the phone and the delivery was prompt and friendly as well. The cob pizza is unique and pretty tasty. The sauce is sweeter than most but a good change of pace. The wings were decent sized, crispy, and overall pretty good. Even though it costs extra for extra blue cheese, it is well worth it. Went for the first time and absolutely love this little gem. Have to say, it was a very interesting experience and seems like such a homey restaurant with such employees. The waitress was prompt and made such every member of the party, as they arrived, needed a drink or something to munch on. The food was amazing and the service was great. Still good but, you raised the price on your pizza and wings, and the wing quality has slipped the last 3 orders, did you change wing suppliers? New person? Been here twice, both times got, among other things, the COB pizza. It is all you need. "Cheese on the bottom" pizza, slightly sweet sauce, cooked to the right crispy/melty-ness, and overall delicious. I will be back for that. The first time I went, I also ordered eggplant parm. Massive serving portion, took most of it home because my energy was focused on the pizza. A friend I was with ordered antipasto - large serving size also. Other apps ordered were fried mushrooms and calamari. I would recommend the calamari, decent portion and good dipping sauces. The fried mushrooms seemed like they were reheated from a frozen bag - not that it tasted bad, but that it looked and tasted that way. The second time, also ordered mozzarella sticks as an app. Again found they appeared to be from bulk frozen. My thinking is because they were fried apps, the mushrooms and mozzarella sticks, they can get away with what appear to be reheated frozen kind. The decor is very simple - no table cloths, basic silverware, paper napkins. The staff are friendly - not exceptionally attentive, but can answer your questions. Bottom line is: COB pizza. read more

The Red Front delivers on consistency with the taste of their food and excellent service. The C.O.B. pizza (cheese on the bottom) is a historic tradition of the Red Front and everyone should try it at least once. The placement of the cheese first on the crust gives the tastebuds a chance to truly appreciate the sauce. Their red sauce has the right mixture of seasoning and tomato. As basic of a statement that is, there are other restaurants or chefs who go crazy with spices in their sauce and it takes away all the good. Red Front sauce is consistent and a main reason people come back. The rest of their menu is delicious and quite extensive with dinners like chicken parm, eggplant, pasta and appetizers. The raspberry sauce side sauce option for mozzarella sticks is a great nod to an Upstate NY novelty since past Buffalo, everyone else thinks only marinara sauces goes with those sticks. We ordered here for lunch. 3 different subs and ALL OF THEM LACKED FLAVOR. The presentation was awesome, only to be let down by the taste. No one finished their lunch because it was so bland. Basic old school Troy Italian place. Stopped in for some pizza with some friends. Had the COB pizza that has the sauce on top of these cheese. Very tasty not the same as a conventional pizza but is great for a change of pace. Side salad was ordered by one in our party and was huge for the prices. Service was pleasant, efficient and very helpful. Liked the "sliced sausage" topping much better than the "ground sausage". Will Be back. read more
