We stopped by to try the wine on our way home. The wine was not very good. My wife didn't finish the tasting it was that bad. I finished 5 of the 6 and stopped. We decided to try this winery today, and we ended up leaving after a simple glass of wine. We are not sure if it was the "owner", or who she was, but she was the most rude person that we have EVER experienced at a restaurant, or winery. We initially sat at the bar, and she explained that they don't serve food at the bar. No worries at that point, so we found a table for 2, and looked at the wine and food menu. We decided not to eat, so we sat back at the bar to enjoy a couple glasses of wine. She proceeded to ask her ONLY server to tell us to leave the bar and go back to our table. We paid our bill for less than one drink, and left immediately. We felt so bad for the waitress, and we gave her our cash tip straight to her to make sure she actually got it. We came out on a Sunday afternoon in mid September. This place is beautiful. I did the wine tasting even though I don't really drink I just wanted to sample the homegrown and made wines. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We have brought our 9 yr old golden retriever here several times. This time the winery dog ATTACKED our dog and bit part of her ear off. When I attempted to talk with the owners, they told us we should not have brought our dog even though we had repeatedly been told our dog is okay and we have seen other dogs here. The owners were INCREDIBLY rude and gave zero concern for our welfare. While we have had fine experiences in the past, we will no longer come here for their mediocre wine and horrible hospitality. read more

My boyfriend and I re-visited Red Fox Winery & Vineyards on the July 5th - 6th 2024 weekend. It had been a few years since we had been there. They have built a larger restaurant building with a covered patio area with celling fans to move the air. The building is beautiful and the view of the flower/herb garden and many many rows of fruit vineyards was a beautiful site too. The weather was just perfect that weekend and the fans were not needed but nice they are available. We did a wine tasting and received two full size wine glasses....very nice and then we had an appetizer as we just stopped in on our way to another destination. And I must say the food was great too and was the wine !! I diffently want to go back. The only other thing that I can see at this time to improve this place to draw more people to visit is if they could occasionally have live music come in. read more

Stopped by today to give them another try after 3 previous visits that involved poor service and food that almost felt microwaved - warm on the edges, cool in the middle. Four of us met at door by woman literally radiating displeasure. Asked if we had reservations, said no, and told it would be 45 minute wait. Confused, because large dining room was almost empty. Asked if we could get a drink or bottle of wine while we waited - and told that would be 45 minutes. She just stares at us. So we left. Had a great day picking fresh black berries, tasting a wide variety of wine, and eating some delicious food. This was so much fun me and my friends want to do it again. The black berries were only $3.00 per lbs. The tasting is great value when I compare it to the tastings at Napa Valley. We tried 6 different wines for $5. Then bought a bottle of our favorite (Rose) for $15, which is really reasonable. I won't lie, I had pretty low expectations when it came to the food and I was happily surprised when it all tasted so good. The lasagna was amazing and would be a award winner at any Italian restaurant; and the fried okra filled up my southern soul. I didn't get to try my friends Burger but the fact that he downed it before the rest of us got our food is a good sign. We are all from Kansas City and this was a perfect little day trip. Less than 1 hour away it is the perfect distance for a quick road trip. We will definitely will be back. read more

First timers. my husband And I stopped on way to lake. was initially greeted by a nice older gentleman who was very welcoming, but when we went into the main space for the tasting, the woman who served us never smiled, never engaged in any type of conversation I tried to draw her out with some conversation about the winery and got very little information. Some of the wines were actually pretty good, but we would not stop again. Somebody else needs to be in charge of customer service! We talked a lot about how it was nice to find a winery that not only has great wines but also has a complete food menu! This isn't fast food or off the Sysco truck stuff you find at every chain restaurant. The specials are unique creations. Expect to take your time and enjoy. We met up with family there, since it was halfway for both parties. The place looked nice, and we were anxious to taste some wine, and have a nice meal. The menu was a little different, with not many choices and the prices were high. We ended up getting four apps, two which were pretty good, and the other two, not good at all. Next was the wine tasting, six choices for $12, and keep the glass. I'm ok with this, but wasn't prepared for what I was about to taste. I've been to over 60 wineries in Missouri, some are better than others, but I've always been able to find at least a couple wines I liked. Well, the best part of this tasting was the free glass, none of the wines were good at all that I sampled. The girls did like the sangria, though, but was $40 per pitcher. First and last visit. We went for Mother's Day. Made a reservation and got there five minutes early after driving nearly two hours. Did not get seated for over a half hour. No real acknowledgement of our presence during that time. Our meal took two and a half hours. No one came to the table and explained the delay or even asked us if we wanted to refill drinks. The food was good but took way to long to get. The wine is good and priced well and they have a case discount. My husband and I stopped in to try out this winery last evening and were quite impressed by the size of the vineyard. We arrived at around 5 o'clock and there was no one inside. So we took a look around, and their place is very well decorated and had amazing charm. It took some time to be greeted, however, but my husband and I are in such a great mood that it didn't really matter. We decided to sit at the bar, and a lady, that I later learn to be one of the owners, offered us the tastings. She was having a bad day or perhaps she is simply over-worked. My first impression goes from "great" to disappointment rather quickly. My husband suggests that we leave but I'm still curious about their wine so we decide to give it a chance and ride it through. All of their wines are excellent. My favorite was the 3 Oaks red, a smooth dry wine. We choose a full glass and order their goat cheese and olives. The food was incredible. We didn't have the dinner menu, so I wasn't aware that dinner was offered here. I would have preferred dinner but I'll know next time we come back. After our snacks, we go outside to sit on their patio. The view is amazing! My husband and I finish our glass of wine and go back in to settle up. We're greeted by a nice young man who asks us how we're doing and immediately we feel welcome and quickly decide to stay and enjoy another glass. The gentleman's name is Kayvon and he is the owner's son. This is a huge turning point for me and my overall impression of Red Fox becomes nothing but positive. Other reviewers, who were disappointed by the customer service, did not have the pleasure and opportunity to meet Kayvon. He clearly enjoys being a part of the business and he proves to be an important ingredient in maintaining happy clientele. Terrible service. Rude owners. Don't go with a large group unless you want to finish your food before the other half of your table has theirs, even when you make the reservation weeks in advance. The owner threatened to punch a man in my group after I wanted to change the amount of the 20% tip secretly added to my bill. Even though we'd made a reservation, no one knew we were coming when we got there. We had to help set up our own tables. Fine whatever. It took two hours for everyone to finally get their food and eat. Each member of my 20 person group ordered on one ticket since the waitress said to, and then we all had to go in and wait in line to pay, and tell them what we ordered individually. When I went up to pay, my food had already been crossed off because someone else paid for the wrong thing. I said fine, whatever, I'll pay for someone else's food so that we can just go. She tells me my total is $69 and change, and I hand her my card to swipe. AND THEN she tries to hide the screen to hit 20% tip, and switches quickly to the signature screen. I said "oh can I change the tip amount? I wanted to leave something different." This eventually escalated to the owner, I believe his son, and the server coming up to me on the other side of the bar, in my face, touching my chest because of how close they were, yelling at us and threatening to call police or fight us......because I wanted to change the amount of a tip. Good deal when you consider that we tried almost every wine and they have quite a few. Since it was lunch time and they had a restaurant we decided to try the food. Both the wine and food were excellent. The winery is owned by an Armenian couple. He poured the wine and she served us our food. We had dolmas, spanikopita and eggplant bruschetta. All were amazing and really reasonably priced. I almost forgot to mention the grounds. Gorgeous. We were there in November but I can't wait to go back when the weather is warmer to enjoy the outside space. To top it all off the wife came running out to our car to bring us cups of water to take with us for the rest of our trip. Nice touch! read more

While looking for a new place to stop and have dinner on a drive home from Springfield Saturday my wife and I saw a number of signs along 7 along with a HUGE banner announcing the Red Fox Winery as well as a bistro open Thur/Fri/Sat. We thought a nice meal at a boutique winery would be the perfect end to a day together. Unfortunately that was not our experience. We arrived at the winery at approximately 6:30pm. On the outside it appears to be a very charming place. On the inside it's simply ugly. Let me rephrase that - the decor is fine. The people are ugly. Not on the outside - they are ugly on the inside. I have never been treated so rudely at a service business in my life. We walked in and the first words out of the server's mouth who "greeted" us was "do you have reservations?" Of course we didn't, so we asked if we could sit at the bar (which was empty besides one patron eating dinner) and she indicated that would be fine. We took a seat at the bar and watched no less than 4 employees completely ignore our presence for 5 minutes. Not even a "hello, we'll be right with you." No smiles. No eye contact whatsoever. One older gentleman (who I assume was the owner) was not working, he was just chatting up the other person at the bar. One person was opening wine and two older ladies appeared to be in a dialogue about what to do about the intruders sitting at the bar. Finally a very grouchy woman (who I assume was the other owner) approached us and asked if we had reservations. Once again, no "hello, welcome to the Red Fox." No "would you like to try a glass of wine." Only a very curt and somewhat accusing tone about our lack of a reservation. I said no, but we were told we could eat at the bar. She said we could not eat at the bar, but we could eat out on the patio. It had been raining most of the day, was 62 degrees outside, and the sun was going down - there was no way I was going to eat on the patio. We walked out and will not return. Both my wife and I were flabbergasted at how poorly these people treated us. The upside is we returned to Lees Summit and found Infusions Bar & Grill which was the exact opposite of our experience in Urich. It was an amazing meal served by people who absolutely understand the value of each and every customer.
