We stopped in on our way out of town and we're pleasantly surprised with the variety of breakfast, lunch, and bakery items available for purchase to eat in store, to go or to take and freeze. We were really impressed by the sour cream cookies and we took a package home to bring to our Thanksgiving and everyone was raving about them. I just happened to see Koehn Bakery mentioned on a Kansas City Facebook page. The information was enough to entice me to stop on my way south. This quaint bakery on the corner is easy to find with plenty of parking. I was surprised to find it open on a Monday. Many customers were inside buying lots of bread, cookies, pastries, and pies for the holidays. The selection is massive! Some were placing orders for later in the week. It's obvious they have a reputation that keeps them busy! The blackberry pie was excellent. The chocolate chip with pecan cookies is off the chart yummy. The banana nut bread is very moist, heavy, and tasty. This experience has wiped out my interest in any other baked goods from other bakeries. Trying their lunch sandwiches is next on my list. I told the lady that helped me how I learned about their business. She said she was glad to hear that and so happy I stopped in. Friendly service and appreciated my business! Pricing was reasonable. I see why Koehn Bakery is a 5-star joint! Friendly staff, a huge selection, & a wonderful small-town vibe. The interior is very homey and smells amazing. We ordered a few donuts around 12:30pm. It was pretty picked over but we wound up with chocolate iced, strawberry iced, a glazed double twist, and a sour cream! The chocolate iced was AMAZING - probably the best I've ever had! I love when they glaze the donut first and then put the chocolate icing on, which is exactly how these are made! Same thing with the strawberry iced. Delicious! The glazed double twist is two glazed donuts wound together and fried like that. I think I would have liked the plain glazed more. There just wasn't enough glaze on it for me. Count how many times I've said glaze so far! The sour cream was not as sweet as the yeast donuts, but still good! It would be good with a warm drink like coffee or cocoa. Overall, a really nice place! They have a cute little seating area and hot food as well (not to mention all the take-and-make meals). I haven't had anything here that I didn't like! I really like their Biscut breakfast sandwich. The biscuit is really good. The chocolate covered longhorn filled with their fluff is amazing! When we get together with our crafty friends, they all give us their orders to bring them some of the yummy baked goods. I had a minor problem recently and didn't discover it until later when I was sharing the donuts. I called them and they were extremely helpful and made things right no questions no arguments. What a happy coincidence! It was time to stop for gas for our RV and we had seen a billboard advertising a bakery. We love bakeries, so went a short distance in to Butler and stopped at Koehn's. It was probably about 30 minutes before closing when we stopped in on a Friday evening. We don't know our way around town and my cell service said "no thank you" in this area, so this was kind of a place that I stumbled upon. We just wanted a light snack or meal before we headed to an evening event. Since it was so close to closing time, I asked if there were any items that would be "annoying" if we ordered them. I was worried they might have already started putting things away for the evening, but they told us not to worry -- everything was still available. I got a roast beef sub on Italian bread and mom got Chicken Salad on wheat. I had noticed that there was an option of white bread or italian bread. I assumed (that's on me for not asking) that white bread meant like a slice of bread and italian bread meant more of a sub sandwich type of bread. It turned out that Italian bread is covered with herbs and seasoning on the top. I will say the sandwich was really tasty. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was good and the bread was good too. My only issue is that the bread was extremely messy. The toppings crumbled off really bad, even before I had unrolled the sandwich. I tried to eat it while still mostly wrapped in the paper but it was just a huge mess of that topping going everywhere. I really regretted choosing that bread. Although it tasted good, I was just covered in the topping (we ate in the car). If I chose that bread again, I'd probably ask if the could flip the top portion of the bread inside out so the herbs would be stuck inside of the sandwich. Our sandwich combos came with a drink and cookie. We just had chocolate chip to be easy. They were good, but maybe not my favorite cookie ever. If we go back to this area, I would be willing to eat here again. read more

Like floating on a cloud of dough and sugar. Wow! We stumbled across this bakery when taking a hwy exit to find coffee. We found coffee and so much more. Cases of fresh baked, iced, sprinkled, sugar dusted, savory mouth watering baked treats- donuts, cinnamon rolls, danishes, sausage rolls, breakfast sandwiches, cookies, angel food cakes and too many more to mention. We opted for the delicious breakfast sandwich on homemade jalapeño bread with egg and ham, a sausage roll (sausage wrapped in naked baked donut dough) and of course a dozen donuts to go. Very friendly staff and you could tell they have a strong local following. Lots of people flowing in and ordering their favorites while I stood mesmerized by the colorful cases of donuts and the intoxicating sugary scent wafting throughout the shop. Stopped here for a late lunch on our way to the lake. Really excited about trying their 'dough-knot', a sausage and egg in a donut and VERY glad they still had the makings at 1:00. It was delicious. We also split a Reuben, which was also excellent. Not too big, real person-sized sandwich. M doesn't like thousand island dressing, I do. She was gracious enough to split the sandwich in half and make it to order so it would be perfect. And then, the pumpkin roll. I'm SO SORRY I don't get a photo. It was beautiful and tasted even better - filled with cream cheese icing and drizzled with Carmel and chocolate with walnuts. I'm going to be dreaming of this treat for a while. I stopped in awhile back after I had heard great things about the new owners and the things they were switching up. I have always been a fan of Koehn's Bakery, so I was excited for the newer ideas that were infiltrating the business. Sadly, I was not impressed. The quality of the product is being pushed aside for convenience, and quantity. I decided to go and give it another try because my heart is set on Koehn's Bakery, but as I entered the establishment, the owner caught sight of me, and approached. She proceeded to ask if I was the one that left the last 1 star rating and when I replied yes, she gave me an ultimatum. In her exact words, "You better take that review down, or walk your butt out those doors and never come back." So, I sat and had my soup, and left. I will never be back for several reasons. One being the quality of the over-all establishment. The other being the owner, and how extremely unprofessional she was when she approached me out of frustration. If you have any issues with this place, and live near by- it's safe to say you better not voice your opinion, or the owner might have a few things to say next time she sees you. read more

This place is a hidden gem. Had the grilled chicken wrap with bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and ranch dressing. It was one of the best wraps I have ever eaten. The sub sandwiches looked great as well and we will stop on the way back home to try those. The cookies are awesome and we are getting some cookies and donuts for the road.
