Came in to have a late lunch with a friend since we were at Island Beach for the day. Super fun atmosphere with great live music, cold refreshments and amazing food! It's got an open patio as well as the tented bar & dining area. The service was fantastic: we were seated as soon as we arrived and everything was on point from there. I had the poke tacos and a side salad and my friend had a burger and fries. Generous portions, everything was fresh, and our server made sure that we were good on our drinks (iced tea and Long Island for him). Highly recommended! read more

The menu online here is obsolete, the prices have gone up 50% roughly but the bartending staff are a friendly lot and they usually have one or two beer specials and one mixed drink special. I love Island Beach State Park, and the Red Fox is a great addition to Swimming Area 1. We stopped in for a drink around 3 pm and it was busy with with diners but we were able to grab two seats at the bar. The service and Paloma was great($7.50 drink). Bread for dipping in the broth is also a highlight. I come here every time for this app. Also have tried the lump crab cake, chicken fingers (real breading, not the fake, crispy stuff--yummy honey mustard), and the tuna bites appetizer (generous sized ahi chunks, dipping sauce nothing great just a garlic oil). If I'm not mistaken, I believe this is the only restaurant/bar on Island Beach State Park (or whatever it's called). If I could have, I would've written the review while I was there, but when I tell you I had ZERO cell phone service - there was nothing, nada, zilch! I noticed this place had two WiFi signals, but the employees didn't seem to know anything about it. Even with the space being outdoor I was little cautious about being there because I'm still on high alert with COVID 19 and everyone sitting at the bar area was ON TOP of each other. The establishment did seem to make sure that there wasn't a large crowd. They double checked that there was one body to each bar stool and no additional crowding occurred. I didn't review the menu in great detail, but can tell you that the fried shrimp and French fries were good! The French fries appeared to be hand cut and both were served with coleslaw (that I didn't taste). For drinks I had the margarita, but subbed whatever house tequila they use for Casamigos. That was $11, and I honestly was expecting it to be more because it GOOD. If you're on ISBP (or WHATEVER) pop in. Just remember that they're accessible from the first parking section. read more

I really love this place. It's the only restaurant on island beach state park besides the concession stand at the swimming beach. It's not fancy, just some tables and a huge bar under a tent or under umbrellas. The seafood is fresh as is everything else including the boardwalk fries. They have a large variety of bottled beer and some delicious beachy cocktails. The only downside is they close @8pm and there are sometimes those green biting flies outside. the worst service I have ever encountered. the manager was rude an unprofessional. we were sat and watched as tables around us that came in after us got greated and served. the response was sorry we are busy and we do not know who is assigned to our section. there were 5 servers - plenty to handle the tables. i would never recommend anyone to visit. pack food its not worth the frustration and ignorance . read more

We've stopped here a few times over the summer and enjoyed our visits. Nothing fancy, a little ramshackle, but you definitely feel as though your on vacation. Service has been great, albeit slow at times. We've only had apps and drinks, no platters or sandwiches. Finally made it here on the 1st day of fall. Weather was like mid summer. Gorgeous. Superb 2 piece band playing ( Steve & ??) were an added enjoyment. Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I was very excited to try this restaurant as my mom goes often. Sat down music was great I was there with my mother son and bestfriend who is from out of town. Ordered BBQ wings, chicken tenders, crab cakes, fried shrimp. Bbq sauce was amazing! But then I bit into a raw chicken wing but it was a big wing and the others were smaller so other ones were cooked fine. Also we saw the RED FOX which is person dressed up as a fox and my son loved it. He got up and danced with him and he got necklace. That was the best part about the restaurant. Then we got our entrees and everything really went sour. So I got fried shrimp with rice pilaf. The waitress brought out my meal with fried and gave my friend with the crab cake the rice and just said that they didn't have any more so that's what they gave me NEVER asked. My friend took a small bite of the rice pilaf and said that she didn't like it but I could have it so we just left it the way it was. I then proceeded to eat my shrimp which were hard as a rock couldnt barley bite them had a hard time. So I then took a huge bit of rice pilaf in which I proceeded to gag and have to spit it out on a napkin and run to the bathroom to wash my mouth out and threw up in the sink. Had to rush back to the table and try to drink water and had to take my mom's coke to get the taste out of my mouth. The rice tasted like windex or bleach. When I took a bite it started burning but the rice was cold. Then I didnt want anything else I asked for a coke since the taste was still in my mouth. My waitress never was concerned and only asked if I wanted to eat something else. I just wanted to leave. I then the waitress brought over the bill. I asked to speak with the manager. This is what was the worst management experience as well. She came over with a huge attitude. I proceeded to tell her how unhappy I was and what had happened and the fact that she never came over to even ask if I was ok. Also he said that my waitress told her that we were unhappy from the beginning and that was horribly wrong. She said that she couldnt decipher if we were just saying that or we were actually unhappy and had a reason to be. When I began to explain she said she took of my one meal and what else I wanted her to do. I told her that she never came over to make sure I was ok. She said she's busy. Ses a bartender and manager I proceeded to tell her that's unacceptable and I still needed to at least be asked if I was ok or something. No one was concerned at all. She proceeded to take the bill out of my hand and told us that she got the bill and we can go. THAT WASNT THE ISSUE. I tried to explain it to her and she started arguing with us and accusing me of trying to get a free meal. I was trying to get out my frustration and started crying because it was a horrible feeling to be embarrassed about almost throwing up on my plate in the middle of the place. Long story short. The first time I ate here it was good. I had a drink and shrimp cocktail. Although it is over priced. Last night I had a hotdog with house chips.(they make themselves) The chips made me sick as a dog. My daughter had pork roll, which she said was good, but the fries were nasty.
