After spending a good chunk of change (which was dumb) I decided that these cookies (however much bigger and more appealing) were the losers and here is why. There was literally no flavor to the cookie. I tasted amazingly soft cookie, super chewy but it was like eating nothing. No taste or flavor. I loved how they were presented. This place is amazing. Warm cookies - made when you order (if you get a dozen) in a fun box. And it's relatively cheap (compared to other cookie places like this). My friends I dropped off here (had to stay in the car) came back in a great mood, absolutely loving the staff. One decided to order a 15 for himself when he couldn't decide, and ended up having to wait 15 minutes from some "premium" cookies to be fresh made. Fortunately, his fiance made him share over the weekend, so we got to try a bunch. There was a chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips that was particularly tasty. Parking in this area can be a bit intimidating, so I'd love to know if the lot abutting the store is legal parking for them. It literally is in a dark alley, and it almost feels like you're doing a covert drug deal. I do admire the entrepreneurial spirit of the whole thing, though. Price ranges from about $1.50 to $2.50 per cookie, and the cookies are pretty large. I tried the chocolate chip, red eye, and cookies & cream because I didn't feel like waiting and that's what they had ready. They were all great (and still warm), but of the three, the cookies and cream was the best. The red eye is a close second with an addictive flavor. Oddly enough, chocolate chip is my favorite. A standard. But it didn't make much of an impact on me. Tip: do an online search of the menu and order about 30 minutes in advance of your pickup. I have had an awful customer service experience with this company. Ordered 31$ worth of cookies. Initially we missed the drivers call but returned the call in less than five minutes. Was forwarded to the actual store and told that they could not deliver because the store was now closed. I asked for a refund to which I was told I would have to call back in the morning. This morning I called to handle the refund and was told I could not receive a full refund because they had to pay the delivery drivers. I have been going to Red Eye since the first day it opened, and as much as I adore their cookies, I cannot find the words to truly describe how awesome they are. But, here's an attempt: their cookies are the most delicious cookies I've ever had (sorry, mom!), their business model of sourcing locally is great, and their customer service is above and beyond. Whenever someone is visiting campus from outside of their delivery area, I make sure they don't leave until they've had a cookie. I talk up Red Eye so much that my friends think I'm getting paid for it (I'm not, I promise). Their new place is just a tad further from my apartment now (which is probably a good thing for my blood sugar level...), but I am really happy for them to have their own place. Soo, it happened finally. At like 10 pm on a Wednesday, my man and I were hungry, lazy, cranky and looking to indulge. Red Eye had been on the wish list for some time. We ordered a whole dozen of cookies. I think we got almost every flavor except mint chocolate. We also ordered a gallon of homestead creamery milk ( you have to make a $2 deposit the first time you get milk). It was easy to order online. We wound up spending about $30 total. We got our value. About 40 minutes went by and we almost forgot. Then, a delightful gent knocked on our third floor apartment door and pulled glory out of these giant red bags hanging from his shoulders. So much stuff to happily climb up to us!! The cookies were huge, hot, and scrumptious. The milk was crisp and cold. We were totally giddy, satisfied, and then happily drunk off sugar and milk. Out of all the late-night cookie delivery places in the VCU area, Red Eye is the best! The other two, I believe, are chains while Red Eye is local. The cookies are not only tasty (as in soft, chewy, and decadent), but also huge (unlike its competitors, which charge the same amount for wimpy little cookies.)
