One of the best and most unique poutines I've ever had! The jerk sauce/gravy had the perfect amount of kick and was so savory with a gelatinous texture that I know may sound weird but somehow worked really well with the fries and the squeaky cheese curds which were phenomenal! The grapefruit salad was the perfect pair for the poutine as it provided a sweet, earthy, healthy balance. The plantain app was good, but I wish they were more caramelized. Thankfully the amazing mango chutney saved the dish with such a powerful tastebud explosion! Our server was very sweet and attentive. Fantastic aesthetic, and amazing food. This place impresses from the moment you see it, the patio is beautiful and has lots of fantastic colors. The town of Kamloops does not have a ton of breakfast places but this place is a gem. The salmon bagels are really good and the bagels are light and fluffy. What a warm ray of sunshine on an otherwise dreary day! Our party of ten was seated quickly, and we got to peruse the brunch menu, which is available from 9-3. A couple highlights: the roasted chicken club sandwich was the best chicken club sandwich that my colleague had ever had. The sun dried tomatoes, chipotle mayo, and pickled shallots combined for this beautiful trio that took the sandwich to the next level. The delhi chaat had a beautiful base of crispy skinned veggie samosas, covered by drizzles of a variety of sauces. There was tanginess, there was creaminess, there was explosion of flavor. The blueberry balsamic ketchup that came with the breakfast sandwich and grilled cheese dishes was unexpectedly good. Not something you would really think would work, but it was a nice unique touch! Lastly, our server Melissa was incredible. She memorized all of our orders without a notepad, and kept all the coffees topped up in an attentive manner that wasn't overbearing. A coffee shop that sells craft beer too. A rather unusual mix. Parking is available in a small lot behind the building, as well as the side streets. The inside is nice and new, and definitely has that hipster edumacated feel to it. There is a nice large patio next to the building. They serve diner-style food here too, but we didn't try. Staff were friendly and talkative. Just a heads up - the beers here are mostly local, but none of it is brewed in-house. We were under the impression that they made some of their own beer here. Nope. Pricing is a bit high, at $7-8 a glass. For this reason I'm not sure if I can recommend it, especially since there are other craft places such as Noble Pig and Red Collar around town. Easily the best brunch in Kamloops, and the best coffee. They serve their cappuccino as an 8 oz traditional, as it should be. We've been a few times now and the French toast is a family favourite. Nice and firm and flavourful, not the soggy mush that most places serve. The chorizo sandwich is also delicious. They play great tunes, too. I have been to red beard before. They used to be really good! I've noticed their food slipping a bit. Today I had the "pesto" Bacon sandwich and it was disappointing! Their breakfast sandwiches used to come on a crisp ciabatta bun, now they come with "filler bread" big cheap bbq hamburger buns. I asked for extra pesto after I had a bite or two because I could taste no sign of pesto! Could have fooled me. The lady said that would be 50cents and that it's pesto mayo.. makes sense. Just in town for one night at a close hotel and looking for something within walking distance. What a hidden gem the Red Beard is! Excellent selection of beers/ciders on tap and the food. Well can't say enough about the food. Started with the Grilled Chicken Tandoori Bites and they were fantastic. The spiced rub, chutney and light salad were a great opener. These must be made from chicken thighs because they were so juicy and tender! Shared a Roasted Chicken Club with my wife and it was delicious. The thrice cooked fries were excellent, but the kicker was the blueberry-balsamic ketchup. Who's have though?! Very happy we didn't go up the hill to "chain" restaurant. Plus since I didn't have to drive I got to have two flights of beer/ciders! Well done! This is a great find! Good luck and much success! Holy crap that was good! I had the Croque Madame and my boyfriend had the Chicken Club. The Croque Madame was so delicious. It was actually a lot lighter than I expected. I also added tomato which was nice. Apparently the chicken club was one of the best ever too. Delicious iced tea too. Great patio and parking out the back. read more

My wife and I always love going out to Red Beard, Friday night it was a birthday visit. Had to skip the craft beer selections as I was driving and she was working, but I considered a taxi given how great the beer selection was last time. In the end though she opted for the mango tandoori chicken sandwich and I got the Shawarma-ish wrap with just water to drink. Food was great although I definitely preferred meals I had before (the chicken club and the brie burger) to what I chose this time. Atsmosphere as always was wonderful, open but not crowded or loud. I got the dish with the Latke, chorizo sausage and hollandaise. I forget the name of it but it was terrible, aside from the perfectly cooked egg. The sausage was bitter from over spicing, the latke was dense, dry and lacked flavour. The hollandaise didn't even save it. It was also flavourless. The picked onions with the salad bits was lovely but got lost with the bitter tomato? sauce they smothered on it. My kids loves their eggs and bacon though. I should have went simple because I would have left here not hungry. read more
