I wish I could leave a positive review, but our experience at The Red Barn was incredibly frustrating and honestly disappointing. After waiting in line with no communication or updates, we were suddenly redirected by security--specifically someone named Spencer--to another bar with no explanation. We followed the instructions, thinking maybe there was a process or capacity issue, but once we got there, nothing made sense. No one knew why we were sent over, and long story short: we ended up not getting in at all. No apology, no accommodation, just brushed off like we didn't matter. Spencer from security was especially inconsiderate. When we politely asked for clarification, he responded with zero empathy and a dismissive attitude. If you work the front of house and represent the business, you should know how to speak to people. Instead, he acted like he was doing us a favor just by standing there. It's one thing to be busy, but it's another to treat paying guests like an inconvenience. We planned our night around coming here, and it was completely derailed because of poor communication and even worse customer service. There are plenty of bars around that understand how to treat guests--The Red Barn is clearly not one of them. Where to start, this is absolutely not a welcoming place. I came here with a group of friends for a 30th birthday. We dressed in a "country" theme, and were turned away as they only accept "upscale casual" dress on the weekend. While we were being turned away, we saw others exiting in jeans and a t-shirt, less formal attire than we had on. Unfortunately, it was very clear that we were being turned away due to the fact we were a group of non-straight presenting people. The bouncer and hostess (who let people in) told us we were too casual and that we should change into other clothes if we had them in the car. We of course did not have other clothes. It was very clear to us based on this interaction we were not welcome. If you are MAGA, white, and old, have fun! I recommend this place for you. Otherwise, steer clear of this hatred. read more

I brought my 7 month pregnant wife here for a fun date night and the bouncers told us no fatties. I politely explained that she was pregnant and she said to fuck off and I quote "I don't care." This place is so wanna be pretentious, snobby and elitist! Went there last night, halloween, around 8pm with a friend I had visiting from out of town. Both having great costume game. I wanted to get there early to avoid the line. We walk up and a girl thinking she is way hotter than she is thinking she is working at some relevent club in New York Or LA asks "are we on the list?" To which I say no, then she says, "well its $40" ?! Are you kidding me no on is in there, it is not even high season yet. Mind you this place loves there line, but told most of my Palm Desert friends and they were surprised they even had a cover. So you want to rip people off at the door so they can get into your empty bar to pay for your over priced drinks?! Great business model. Point is it got new owners, opened recently and is trying to be everything the deseert is not. Friendly, neighborly and not the big cities, which the whole reason people love coming here. Let me just say this I have opened some of the biggest places in LA we created what you are trying to be. Its antiquated your list, line club model. People arent about that anymore. Maybe in 2001 Go to a place where people are kind and neighborly to enjoy the desert, not this wanna be bar/club. read more

Stopped in on a whim and what a gem! Service was wonderful, the decor is eclectic and stylish, the music was fun, and most importantly the drinks were inventive and delicious. Visited Palm Desert & really liked this spot! We did go on a weekday a little early so it wasn't too crowded. The decor and ambiance was fun and unique. Had two different cocktails and they were both really great. Worth the few extra dollars vs a normal type of bar. read more

Ok! The owners actually reached out to me to discuss the issues based on my previous Yelp! Amazing. I went to meet them and walked in to a beautifully done back bar (!) and a thoughtful conversation about how my previous review caused them to make some awesome changes and that they were always open to suggestions. It is so rare and wonderful to have feedback be received in a manner it was intended. There are great things afoot for this venue and so many amazing possibilities which I see coming to fruition as they grow into this awesome space and community. I'm happy to join them on this journey as customer and maybe more as time goes on. I'd love to experience more of a vintage / throwback music vibe to accompany the decor and customers but I'm sure they are working on fine tuning all of the details & will nail the music as well. Give them a chance because this could easily be your regular spot in an area which lacks a fun scene. I see a future with amazing live acts as well which is so up my alley I'm giddy! read more

This place is a dump! , I saw under age girls in the bar, I mean early teens drinking, the owner was there and seemed to have no problem until the sheriffs department showed up, it looks like something else maybe going on at this place , the service was horrible, the drinks water down just not a place I want to revisit. read more

I was told I can't wear my bandana, and overall my friends' music bands were cut out early and dissed. What's the problem? I went there with one of friends. The dance floor was too small to dance. When they remodel the place, they should made dance little more space so people can to the music. When my friend and I walked around the back bar, the bartender was but rude to my friend. Because kept asking her if she wanted drink a few times and she said no because we just here. Reading some of the other reviews on here is pretty wild. To see how jealous and vindictive some people can be is sad. I'm a long life desert resident, I've been going to The Barn since the 1990's , back when there was absolutely no door staff and anyone could get in. Now they check everyone's ID so for those saying there's underage people in there drinking!! You should of came up with a more believable lie! The Red Barn is literally the only bar in all of Palm Desert with door staff that checks id plus the fact that every single weekend there's off duty Sheriff's officers hanging out in there, that I know for a fact wouldn't let that slide. The other thing that I don't understand is the complaints about it not being like the old Barn..... What do you miss... The sticky dirty floors or the sticky seats, the restrooms that never worked or that smelled like they hadn't been cleaned since 1974, all the people smoking cigarettes in the back area stinking up the joint or maybe they miss all the bar fights. The fact of the matter is that this is the absolute best version of The Barn, The decor is second to none and everyone says so, the staff is out of this world, the drinks are amazing, the restrooms are clean, the music is unmatched in the entire Coachella valley, and so there's a line to get in sometimes... SO WHAT!! If you've been anywhere in the world you would know that every great place will always have a line. Oh and sure the security is strict but don't you want to be safe, specially in today's world! Bottom line is show up dress to impress, grab a drink and enjoy yourself. read more
