That reasoning didn't make sense to me because the paying members are already going to show up regardless of whether I'm there or not. It felt really aggressive and salesy, especially trying to charge someone for a free class before they've even signed up. Huge red flag to me, so I ended up blocking them because I'm not giving anyone the chance to screw me over.

First, tuition and fees continued to increase, yet there was very little transparency regarding where the additional money was going. Competition fees in particular did not match the written amounts provided by the competitions themselves. For my daughter's solo entry alone, I discovered we were charged over $200 more than the actual competition fee. Costume costs were also excessive, especially when many items appeared to come from inexpensive online retailers while parents were charged significantly higher prices. Another major concern was the lack of accountability and communication. Concerns brought up by parents were often dismissed, and at times families were made to feel unreasonable for asking legitimate questions. Communication was inconsistent, with frequent changes to contact information and difficulty receiving clear responses. Most importantly, I was deeply troubled by the treatment of children. No child should leave practice feeling humiliated or emotionally distressed. My 6-year-old daughter came home crying on multiple occasions, and other parents shared that their children witnessed staff yelling harshly at her. It was heartbreaking to watch her confidence diminish over time. After two years, she became so emotionally overwhelmed that she begged me in tears not to make her audition again. There were also issues involving choreography changes being made without proper permission or communication, despite claims otherwise. Additionally, while it was stated that extra time and effort were being "donated" for soloists, many of those lessons were still conducted in shared private sessions despite being included in our regular tuition. I was genuinely excited for Taylor to have a dance studio for local children, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Every child deserves a positive, supportive, and encouraging environment where they can grow both as dancers and as individuals. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. I would strongly encourage parents of young dancers to carefully consider all options before enrolling.

From August through May, our daughter had eight different teachers in her classroom. That level of turnover made it very difficult for the classroom to have the consistency, structure, and experienced instruction we expected. At this age, children need a reliable presence to build emotional safety, trust, and developmental confidence. Instead, the classroom often felt unstable, and we saw noticeable changes in behavior during periods of teacher turnover and classroom stress. To be clear, this is not a criticism of every teacher. We are grateful for Ms. Jordan, Ms. Spivey, and Ms. McNulty, who cared for our daughter and did their best in a difficult environment. The issue, in our view, was administrative: hiring, training, supporting, and retaining teachers, as well as listening to parent concerns. We raised concerns earlier in the year and requested a classroom change, but we did not feel heard. When changes were eventually made, teachers were moved again, despite our desire for consistency. Over time, the repeated disruptions broke our confidence in the school. Several families ultimately chose to leave, which speaks to how serious the concerns became. We were disappointed there was no inquiry, exit conversation, or request for feedback after our departure. Without stronger administrative accountability, I worry other families may experience the same challenges.
