I have a 2009 Mercedes Benz C300 with the infamous, disastrous Steering Lock ELV / ESL Failure issue happened to me more than 2 months ago. My car wouldn't start, it wasn't a battery issue, but I replaced it anyway. Still car wouldn't start. I researched and found online from many sources and forums that the issue was the Steering Lock Module had died and it locked up the steering wheel mechanism and that's what makes the car not being able to start. Stupid Mercedes with their cheap parts. From reading all the forums, I found out that a lot of people opted to go the route of getting the Bypass Emulator to fix this problem once and for all and not have the factory module died on you again. It took me a long time to decide and to also find a local person to do it.
