Chips and salsa were delicious, and I had a taco/enchilada combo that was delicious, and my partner had vegan enchiladas (roasted veggie enchiladas with verde sauce and pinto beans). Not my favorite place anymore after it changed hands and became Real Tequila instead of Esteban's. The food is still ok. The service was good. I just do not go there very often anymore because the food is just not as good as it used to be. In a pinch though when you need a sit down place for Mexican, it is not a bad choice. read more

Food is ok. Definitely a dine in restaurant. Looking at my receipt there's a 1.25 in fees for takout. Way more than I'm willing to pay for Mexican food. Real Tequila is our favorite restaurant in town! The staff is always accommodating and the food is fantastic. My personal favorite is the chile Colorado. Whereas many Mexican restaurants use cooking methods that result in chunks of chewy meat, the chefs at Real Tequila cook their meat long enough to develop the flavors and texture. Food is consistently excellent. If you want real, authentic Mexican food, you will have to go to Mexico. If you want similar to Tex Mex this is it. Owner is friendly, staff is too. I really enjoy this place. Wish I could convince the owner to exchange locations with the Mexican restaurant near me, but until then I'll walk the extra 20 blocks. Authentic Mexican food. Not a chain restaurant for sure . We had the steak and chicken fajitas. Fantastic flavor. They gave me extremely generous portions. Two fajita meals fed my wife and 3 young kids with leftovers to spare! They did NOT have a split charge which I appreciated. We plan on returning! Real Tequila has great prices and quick service. I eat her about twice a month, my wife and I typically share a large combination. They are generous with their salsa and chips. Many mexican restaurants skimp on the chips with a to go order, this place hooks up the right amount of everything, with no charge for that extra salsa. We first went on a Friday night and the chicken fajitas were delicious. We were thrilled to find a good Mexican restaurant near us. We went back on weeknight and ordered the evening special: burritos (we ordered chicken) and although they looked good when served, they were a disaster. Mushy beans, chicken and rice globbed together with a terrible sauce right out of a can. My husband, who was starving, managed to eat half of his and I only took a few bites of mine.
