I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered. But the carnitas tacos and burrito really stand out. Their beans are velvety smooth and I assume made with some pork fat. Their carnitas are the best in Mount Vernon, always that perfect mixture of chewy, moist and flavor full. I have never gotten a mouth of flabby gross fat here, never, they really do a good job. They have a selection of sodas mostly Mexican, lots of glass bottles, but nothing diet, bummer for me. They are cash only right now. They also have homemade seasoned peanuts that I always bring home for my husband if I stop in for lunch, a little spicy and delicious. You can also buy tamales there to take home by the dozen. I'm usually leery of Mexican restaurants because it's usually greasy loud and not very comfortable. Quiet experience however we are at the EL patron the place goes on for it must seat 100 people they're quiet little nooks you can sit in so I had a quiet dinner and I ordered the combination plate for $16. I was skeptical but you know what the corn chips and bean dip was delicious and when my combo came, it was an enchilada beef with salad, Mexican rice and beans. Not greasy at all in fact, it was the best combination plate I ever had. I am very impressed with this place now and I will be back. The people are nice. What more can I say?
