An exceptional restaurant in a town with lots of options. Coa exceeded our expectations. This isn't your standard taco or burrito plate restaurant. There is a huge selection of cocktails and mocktails. The salsa and the chips are homemade and wonderful. The menu is not traditional but leans modern. We had the crispy tacos and the chili rellano. The beans - exceptional. This isn't from a can. They are homemade and melt in your mouth. The rice is fluffy and flavorful. It's very very good. Service is friendly and they move quickly. Major yes from me! I was looking for a light lunch and decided that Mexican sounded amazing. The building is really cool- their patio is built around a tree, and this made me want to explore more! The inside is really vibey- looks like a place you'd find in a big city! Really cool wallpaper and a beautiful instagrammable aesthetic. It had a laid back vibe and lots of cool touches. I got the chile relleno as it had won several awards and it lived up to the hype! It was so flavorful and delicious, Wow! Tons of gluten free options, vegetarian dishes, and healthy options. Again the Molcajete is the best thing here! Love all the steak, chicken and shrimp. The sauce is incredible so full of wonderful spice and flavor. The giant jalapeño tonight was very hot! This is one of the best Mexican restaurants that I have dined at...wow...what a serendipitous find. We went through the recommendation of the antique lighting store across the door from the restaurant and also from a wine tasting location in La Conner. We were blown away with the food. Guacamole and chips were amazing. The enchiladas were top notch, accompanied by rice and beans. The beans were more of white beans and were great. Each of the pork, checkn and vegetable enchiladas were remarkable. The only let down was their margarita which was way too sweet for my tastes. Service was good, ambience was upscale, and price is reasonable for the overall experience. Will be finding an excuse to visit again. read more

Started with the guacamole, salsa and chips. Everything tasted very fresh. Chips were light and airy. Ordered the chicken mole and enchiladas with poblano green sauce. Mole was the best I've ever had - scratch made in house and served with entire chicken breast, which was very tender and not overdone. Husband ordered the enchiladas with poblano green sauce - one with pork, one with chicken. Said they were both very good. Pork was very lean and the flavorful. The only con was the margaritas were pretty weak and very sweet (I ordered a "skinny" margarita that definitely tasted like it had a ton of agave syrup in it). But the food was so delicious, not taking any stars off for the drinks. read more

Absolutely love love love COA. My wife and I visited for a date night and celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary (which happened to be in Cancun). We enjoyed quite an authentic Mexican experience. I am sure I have said this, but it beats repeating, I love Mexican food. This place had high standards to meet and did just that. I had the slow roasted beef chimichanga, an order of guacamole, and two margaritas. Let me tell you how it went, we sat down, had chips and salsa, which I was impressed with, nice and crispy chips, cilantro in their salsa, super yum. Then the guacamole came out and forgot about all else. It was so creamy, so so good. I annihilated the chimichanga, munched on my husbands food, you know how it goes. The food and service were both top-notch! They were really busy with the art festival being in town but we were checked on multiple times by multiple staff members. Do not sleep on the Cadillac Margarita!!! It is a work of art and you will not be disappointed. I had the carne asada with the COA prawns and it was delicious. I had an order of churros to-go and they came with both chocolate and strawberry sauces but also fresh blackberries and blueberries, which I have never seen in a to-go order for churros before!! We love Coa and try to come every time we are in town. The food is good and one of the only places we go with consistently good service. I like the patio at this location. I usually get a grilled veggie enchilada but this time the veggies were overcooked and mushroom tasted like it came from a jar. Don't remember that happening before so hoping it was a one time issue. It's a delight to visit COA, so we do it often. It is our most frequented family dinner spot, and the staff always make us feel at home. Interior is clean and bright, food is consistently very good. Sometime, I plan to come in just for churros and coffee (their coffee is solid). I recommend the Guac, Street Burrito, Bacon Wrapped Prawns, and Steak Fajitas. It was tulip season so the whole area was completely packet - the parking lot of Coa being no exception. We almost didn't bother going in but we were pleasantly surprised to discover they had a table for two available in their outside area. The outside area is a little back patio with seats spaced out and lots of heaters and enclosed but still air-flowy side walls. We ordered strawberry margaritas which have to have been some of the best margaritas I have ever had. In a huge glass with the right amount of ice and real cut up strawberries as well as a salt with some heat on the side. I had the carne asada which was a generous plate of rice, beans and steak with some lettuce and veggies and tortillas on the side. The meat was well marinated and flavorful and the veggies were just as flavorful. I felt extremely satisfied with my dish. My spouse had the appetizer order of taquitos which came on a big salad and looked delicious - I couldn't tell you if they actually were though as she didn't offer to share. Service was great considering how busy they were and how many people must come through during the festival. The old place was not the greatest looking place, but we heard the food was good. We tried the new place when our parents said it was pretty good. So on Cinco de Mayo we tried it. First, the service was incredible. They were so nice, friendly, quick and helpful. The food was also very good. We all had different dishes and nobody could complain (try the chile relleno and crispy tacos). The salsa was great, not too hot with great flavor. The house margaritas were very tasty. This place is fantastic for food, ambiance and price. Not your typical Mexican restaurant in that the meals seem to be a bit more authentic and beautifully served. Everything tastes fresh and it's all vibrant in color. Guacamole is served in a ceramic molcajete with a couple chips poking out. Very good! 5 people went - we all had something different and they were all fantastic. I had a salad that had slow braised beef chunks in it. Man, it was good! I had so much meat that I took it home and we got another meal for 2 out of it. The chips were so light and crunchy and the best salsa we have ever had! That's saying a lot because we have eaten a LOT of salsa over the years. The waiter was so fun, friendly and efficient. We were there for a birthday party and we had told no one. The server saw the gifts I guess and got the group to sing and gave him a gorgeous dessert. Seating is very comfortable and sort of casual and you can also eat outside beside a very old gorgeous tree. It seems like it should be called "higher end" but to me that implies stuffy and it's not at all like that. The restaurant is very unassuming on the outside but lovely inside. Can't say enough good about it. Other party members have been there a lot of times and it's always fantastic! We are taking other friends there soon. read more
