Awesome RC shop here in North County SD. They have a drift track here, you can rent one of the shops cars or bring your own which was the main reason we came here. They are open every day of the week! On Tuesday nights they stay open until 10:00 PM for their "Drift Nights". Haven't gone to that one yet, but it's on my to-do list! RC drift tracks are spread pretty far, so having one that's open daily is just amazing! It's not just for RC drifting, they have RC planes, boats, crawlers, etc. with tons of parts for replacement or upgrades. Everything is priced pretty well too, it's tough for brick and mortars to compete with online retailers, but RC Hobbies does a great job with their prices! Haven't used their services for repairs, but I can confidently say that the owners knowledge is huge in regards to RC so I wont hesitate to bring my cars by if i run into an issue I can't fix. read more

I mentioned to a friend that many moons ago, I was into RCing. I had dated a guy who off-road raced for Toyota, and I cut and painted Lexan bodies to look like his trucks. Well, she invited me to an off-road track to check out a weekly meet-up, and upon seeing how awesome the technology is these days, I beelined here to start up again! I knew I didn't want to build mine from scratch or paint bodies (I used to have a whole work room for them, and I just don't have space anymore) and I wanted to keep a budget of 600$ for a car, battery, light bar, Allen wrench tool kit, and whatever upgrades I could afford. This place has everything! I love the owner's honesty; I was eyeing a Traxxas and he said that people who get that particular model, are always back for repairs. He showed me another brand, with the specs I wanted (4x4, 4wd, light in weight, ready to run, and easy maintenance), and it was 50$ less in price. When he asked how fast I planned on going, he was able to help me choose the proper battery as well. I would have definitely hit the upper limit of my budget had I gotten a lighting system today, but it's something to come back for. Overall, a great shop with a cool owner and I look forward to supporting his small business. read more

I used to be into rc cars 15 years ago. I won an rc boat from the $5 raffle they have, and it has pumped me back into the hobby. Because i am new and back into it, a lot has changed. I bought a cheap charger from them that didnt work with the old batteries i had. I was very frustrated, but once they helped me realize i had the wrong charger, they returned the one I bought, and set me in the right direction. They even helped me solder a new connector and told me not to do it to the battery because it would breach the warranty. The connectors they helped me with have been top notch. I purchased a micro blade helicopter from here and had a blast with it. Although, when I attempted to fly inverted with it the first time, the helicopter would malfunction and drop like a rock. After some troubleshooting, The owner Chris determined that the helicopter was faulty. But, instead of leaving me to fend for myself, he allowed me to replace the helicopter while he dealt with the manufacturer. There are not many of these hobby shops around anymore, and I'm so happy that this one really cares about the hobby and how his customers are treated. Great Job Guys! read more

First off, I chose to make my purchase here based on the environment. I had done my research on a RC truck I wanted for about 2 weeks. I went to a different hobby shop first to ask questions and wasn't happy with customer service/attitude I received. I found this store thanks to a coworkers suggestion. As soon as I entered the store I was greeted by the stores owner Chris who was very informative and took the time to answer all my questions I had. He took the time to show me internal parts to the truck I was considering purchasing and steered me in the right path for what parts to be wary of. He also opened the box before I made the purchase so I could see the truck first hand and what came in it to make sure it was 100% what I wanted. The next big thing that impressed me was the amount of parts and accessories they had in inventory, if a part breaks it's always reassuring to have a shop that stays stocked in parts to be a short drive away. Great customer service! I've gotta say, this was one of the better experiences I've had walking into a hobby store... for some reason, there are some hobby people who seem so "elitist" that they make you feel like you are wasting their time if you don't know exactly what you're looking for. (This is especially true for RC car people... RC helis and airplane peeps seem more down to earth for some reason?!) Not here... I walked in... browsed around for a few minutes... and then went to the front and the employee (and possibly the owner) asked if I needed help finding anything... told him what I was looking for... and got me what I needed... no fuss no hassle... just straight up quality customer service! They don't have that huge of a supply compared to other hobby stores around but they have an okay selection of RC cars, boats, helicopters and planes... and a bunch of spare parts... I typically would have only given this place 4 stars but because I was so impressed with the customer service (especially after how I was treated at Hobby Central) this place gets that extra star and I would definitely come back here again... read more

As a father of two boys, a hobby store is a place that is on the list of frequent places visited. RC Hobbies is one of only a handful of places left here in North County. It's not a huge store, but it seems to be well stocked with a good variety of products for a novice all the way up to the expert stuff. Pricing falls within a good range as well. One of the most important aspects of a hobby store are the people who are there to help you out. Many times for reasons I really don't understand hobby store staff can come across as cold and condescending. Perhaps the hobby store as I used to know it is disappearing because they make you feel unworthy if you don't live and breathe the product you are inquiring about. RC Hobbies is not this type of store. Although they were not falling over each other to help me out (which I would always welcome), when it was my turn to ask questions about an RC truck I was looking at, they took the time to ask me who, what, and how much time I want to dedicate to this "hobby" in order to sell me something both me and my boys will be happy with. The conversation was very informative and though he may have been thinking all kinds of ways he could insult or make fun of me, he didn't. Just as he warned me, the time has come to go back because the two cars that I purchased now need replacement parts because my kids wore them out from all the fun they've been having with them, and I won't hesitate to go back and deal with these guys again. read more

Ryan is the man! I had recently bought a TMaxx 3.3 from them Saturday. I did my break in on Sunday was having problems getting it to run and I have Ryan a call and he was more then willing to walk me through the process. Tuesday I took it out to drive. The clutch pads flew out and slipper wasn't tightened I went into a panic and gave him a call, explained to him what was going on and he said to bring it in and he would take care of it. I was so relieved. I took it to him that same day right before they closed he was pretty busy and I wasn't expecting him to get it done right away, but he told me to swing in the following day and it'll be ready. Sure enough I get there and he explained the repairs he did and charged accordingly, great price by the way. This store and Ryan himself are amazing, mind you I stay 3.2 miles to a Discount RC store and I make the drive to Ryan who is 7.0 miles away from me well worth it. Great place! First time I ever came here! I used to live in San Clemente and there was a hobby shop called hobby people at Lake Forest and hobby people don't have great customer service compared to Rc Hobbies! Rc Hobbies give you tips on how to do it and the best part is they will fix it for you! If it takes 15 minutes to fix your rc vehicle they charge you, but its not a bad price. They sell things there at very great prices, I rate this store 10/10, best customer service, good prices, and very great store! :) read more

Their prices are just as good as I can find on the internet and they stock everything that I am looking for. They have really big inventory.
