My A/C died a few days ago when temps hit 114 degrees. I called another highly rated HVAC firm from Yelp to repair it. The other guys were going to charge me $77 or $95 (would not commit to a price) for a trip charge. Once here, they said the problem was the motor of the condenser, which would cost $800 to fix. But since the A/C was 15 years old. I might consider just replacing it. And if I replace the upstairs A/C, I could save some money by replacing the downstairs one too at the same time. I could replace 1 for $9k, or both for $17k. This seemed reasonable at the time, but at odds with what I saw online. Online, I read that based on my A/C's symptoms, I only needed a new capacitor. When I called around for other quotes on a new A/C, I saw a recommendation on NextDoor to use Mark at RC Air. He suggested that I have him come out to look at the unit before buying a new one. He came promptly and, what do you know, he determined that I only had to replace the capacitor. $245. That's a lot better than $17k and a smooth upsell from the other company! Mark charged $195 to replace the AC capacitor, and he was almost 3 hours late. His service fee is only $50, but he charged 8x more for the part. I found out later on that the reasonable price should be around $125 with part + labor. Even the service fee that other companies charge is a bit higher than Mark, but the total amount come out to be less than RC Air. I will not use Mark again, you could only rip me off once, but NEVER again!! read more

One satisfied customer here! With these hot summer days we noticed our AC was running 24/7 with no relief and electricity bill was out of control. We called Mark to come out and inspect the issue. A few weeks ago we noticed the A/C was losing ground - it would get hotter in the house as it ran. The air was cool - not cold - and I suspected it was low on refrigerant. I checked Yelp! and Chino Hills Connections on FB - never have I seen such universally remarkable reviews for a service provider! I called Mark and he came out on a Saturday afternoon - it had to have been close to 106... He was cheerful and immediately checked both the inside and outside units for issues.
