Chocolatte - Truffles

What a quaint little coffee shop in downtown Sutter Creek!…read more We were running some errands the other week and I needed an afternoon pick-me-up. I remembered that Chocolatte was nearby and decided to go support a local business. It's been a hot minute since I've gotten a coffee from them, and I was intrigued by their Valentine's Day menu. Ultimately I went with an iced Cupid's Cherry Kiss, while my husband wanted an affogato with extra shot. The staff were friendly and efficient at making our beverages. While we waited, we took a seat by the window to people watch. My drink was so cute, especially with the sprinkles. They added a lovely texture to a velvety chai. I appreciated that it wasn't too sweet even with the sprinkles and cherry white chocolate. As expected, the affogato was strong with the extra shot, but still smooth without being bitter. I need to remember to come back to Chocolatte more often. There's plenty of seating and the vibes are so cozy. Prices are okay, a little high but I'd rather be supporting a local business than Starbucks. They also have various pastries to choose from. We didn't get any this time but they all looked so fresh and good. PS: They also serve Gunther's ice cream!

From the moment we walked through the door, the store seemed very inviting. Reviewing the menu and seeing the pastries, everything looked delicious. We ended up with 3 coffees and matcha, and a peach pastry, cake and a pumpkin cheesecake. Everything was delicious, every but mouth watering. The staff was super friendly and personable. They have games, a few tables to sit back and relax, not to mention ice cream!!! Did I mention truffles?!?!? We were full and I ordered a creme brulee truffles but unfortunately left it behind at my families house. But they did look delicious. The items around the shop are for sale as well, different deserts and candies. The only downfall is after you get your ice-cream, you have to stand in a different line to pay, there is no cash register at the icecream counter. Highly recommend! Would definitely come back!

A Pleasant Surprise with a Small-Town Feel…read more This one caught me off guard--in a good way. I was out with my family practicing for my daughter's driving test at the DMV up the street. We pulled up Yelp to find a good lunch spot, saw the solid reviews, and decided to give it a try. When we walked in, the atmosphere had that small-town vibe--simple, welcoming, and comfortable. The food was very good. The service wasn't polished like a Michelin star restaurant, but it didn't need to be. It was authentic and heartfelt, and sometimes that matters more. You could tell the staff cared about what they were doing. The place was busy, especially for the time of day we went, which tells you something. People come here on purpose. That says a lot. We were seated quickly, our order was taken without any issues, and the food came out in a reasonable time. When it hit the table, the portions were generous and satisfying. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too busy enjoying the moment. If you go, post your photos--I'm sure the business would appreciate it. If you've followed my reviews, you know I don't give out 4 stars often, and 5 stars are rare. This place earned that extra star because of how it made me feel--between the food, the atmosphere, and the service, it just worked. If I'm ever back in the area, I'm definitely coming back for another meal.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 5/5 Took a small field trip with my family, before the storms rolled in to Northern California, to Jackson Rancheria. This was mine and my daughter's first time here. After spending a little time scouting out some machines and playing for a little bit, my daughter and I and the rest of the family decided to have Lunch at Margaret's Cafe and Bakery. And we were definitely not disappointed. The host was a young man who had the most awesome service! Very friendly and very nice. He sat us in a booth which was definitely a major plus. We didn't have to wait long for our waitress to swing by and take our order. She was just as awesome as the Host up front! She was all smiley and friendly and she dug into some of our jokes and laughed. Dad has dietary needs and our waitress was very accommodating and helpful with that. Very thankful! Okay so... food. My sister ordered French fries for my daughter, herself, and I to share. Fries perfectly crunchy and perfectly seasoned. if there was salt on them fries I sure didn't notice! I ordered The Tuna Salad Sandwich. You get a choice of fries or a salad. since we already had fries at the table I opted for the house salad with Ranch dressing. HOLY GUACAMOLE! the Ranch they serve there is THE BEST! The. Best! the size of the salad was a good size too! (woulda loved a bit more crouton bc those things were good too)! The Tuna Salad Sandwich was very tasty. I totally enjoyed the wheat bread. The tuna salad was perfectly seasoned followed by the great onion crunch within the sandwich itself. Portions are huge! I was only able to eat half of it. will I be back?! oh yes! there are other things on the menu I want to try! So if you like great service with a smile and some good food--this is the spot at Jackson Rancheria!

Host, servers and waitstaff are great!…read more We've patronized this cafe for years and I always forget to post a review. It's my preferred place to eat now that the buffet is not available. We always grab breakfast before we gamble. Food is always consistently yummy- this time hubby got the French toast with eggs and ham, and I got an amazing BLat- it's bacon so I call that brekkie. We will be back soon

I was expecting a butcher shop where I could select some fresh pork chops or rib eye steaks. But…read moremost of the meats were pre-packaged frozen meats. Absolutely nothing wrong with that... it just wasn't what I was looking for. We did buy some frozen steaks. I found the prices to be reasonable but not worth going out of the way for (it's about 40 miles away from where we live). Regarding the quality of the steaks, we didn't find them to be better than what we normally purchase.

I honestly felt like a kid in a candy store, except it was all about getting meats to cook at home. When I walked in, I grabbed a basket and within a few minutes it wad full. I grabbed burger patties, jalapeño sausage patties, 3 sirloin steaks, Alfredo sauce, ravioli, chicken fried steaks, chicken medallions, deli meats, beef jerky, beef sticks, and even liver treats for my dogs. What's great about this place is the prices. Most of the items I grabbed were all $12 or less, mostly in the $6-8 range. Normally I get Tri tips here but wasnt planning on cooking them anytime soon, but even those are reasonably priced at under $40 (depending on size). I walked out of there spending only $92, which is a steal nowadays. Definitely recommend if you are coming up this way, stop at Swingle's for high quality and affordable meats.
