Everything was neatly pruned to maximize the health of the oak trees, and the pine was cleaned up after the poor tree-topping job that was completely hacked by the utilities. Once the job was completed, all the limbs were chipped and hauled away, and our yard was left cleaner than it was before they arrived. He texted me to let me know his crew was held up at a previous job and would be there about an hour after the expected time which worked perfect fro me because i had to go get the keys to move a car I had parked under the tree. His crew showed up. The foreman introduced himself to me and confirmed the work they were to be doing. He and his crew raised the tree skirt (lifted the crown) and thined out the number of branches. We also found that the pricing he offered was not competitive -- it was similar to what other tree service companies quoted, many of whom provided more professional and responsive service. We ultimately went with another company that came out the same day, assessed the job in person, discussed the project in detail, and gave us a quote -- all without requesting any upfront payment. When I informed this business that we chose a different provider, the owner responded in an unprofessional and defensive manner. There are many reputable tree service companies in the area that offer free in-person estimates, no upfront fees, and have many strong reviews across Yelp and Google. Response to the owner: First, you were the one who suggested the price we agreed on via text message. Then you suddenly brought up a contract and a 10% deposit. Also, I don't see why I should pay 10% upfront when we haven't even met in person and you haven't visited the job site. The other company already finished the job in half a day and took the payment after the job was completed.
