I gave this place a chance off of a recommendation and because its so close but it failed. Ordered large pizza and stromboli, pizza was inedible. It was so greasy that the grease was dripping from bottom of box when i got home 2 miles away. Tried eating it and again it was so greasy it was making us nauseous to chew it. I like this pizza too much. I was back here in April when I only visited and the kids ate their Mac and cheese bites that were perfect for them with their cheese pizza. The house sauce is special. The guy who runs the place is genuine and once he meets you- he knows you- just as good as knowing your order as soon as you walk in. I come back at least once a month. The pizza really is delicious. The staff truly are genuine and take the time to know you. I like them and don't like going anywhere else. The sandwiches are ... meh. I got the Italian. Not what I was expecting but that's just me. I wanted to love this pizza place i really did. The owner and staff are super friendly and he said he was a New Yorker like myself. I ordered mozzarella sticks a pizza, penne, knots and garlic bread. The mozzarella sticks were on point are exactly how you should cook them, very crispy. I was eating the sticks in the car on the way home so saw that as a good sign. Unfortunately the pizza was just "ok" it's not bad, like a 6.1. I like to order local versus chain restaurants and I stumbled upon this place here on yelp. I am not normally a huge pizza person however I absolutely love their pizza and we have been eating pizza a lot more often now. Oh my goodness, I just found the BEST pizza place in CoVa!!! My husband said he stopped here by chance and had "the best calzone I think I've ever had"... I was skeptical and thought he might have just been hangry when he went because we are both from north Jersey and grew up eating New York pizza. So I made the treck from VB and ordered the white garlic pizza. OH MY GOODNESS!!! This IS the BEST PIZZA I have ever had! Turns out my husband wasn't just hangry! I got to meet Ray, such a great guy! We got lucky! On a drive from NC to DC, we happened upon Rays Pizza. This was the most perfectly cooked pizza we've had in a while. The crust was crispy but still had a doughy center and the toppings were a great compliment. Staff was lovely too. Wish they were our neighborhood pizza option. read more

Delicious local Italian joint. I used to go when Ray was out at St Juliens Creek. Now, this awesome place is 5 minutes from my house. We took a chance on trying some place new and landed on this since the reviews sounded good. Big mistake! We ordered a chicken florentine pizza and an order of garlic knots. We all took one bite of our pizza and spit it out! It had a fowl fish taste to it which I can only assume was because the ingredients were either not fresh or were going bad. We through the whole thing away to avoid food poisoning or worse! I could have easier thrown $30 cash in the garbage. Let me start by saying I am a 5th gen New Yorker from the Brooklyn/Queens border. Living down in this area has been a challenge as outside of a steak house people in this area don't really know good food. I was happy to learn that Ray is originally from Bensonhurst, Brooklyn and has been in the italian restaurant business for years. I stopped to pick up a menu and was delightfully greeted by Ray. The food here is New York style and quality. The lasagna, the chicken parm, the heroes and the meatballs. Rays pizza is excellent and I highly recommend it but make sure you try the food off the menu as you will think you are in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx or Yonkers. read more

Cedar road location in Deep Creek Va. I used to brag about Rays - not anymore. This was a second chance after not going in for 3 months. We were regulars every Friday Night. Last time service was terrible inside and pizza dough not done - asked for extra sauce - none. So just went last night to give a last chance and service worse along with prices all went up - food was below standards we had a year ago. Staff terrible. Feel bad for owners - good people but their staff is ruining their business. Scrumptious! We've ordered several times from here. The white pizza are so delicious, especially with the ricotta. The ricotta is just sublime! The pizzas have even tested well and been tasty the next day, a true test of quality. Their raviolis are huge, size of my palm huge! And generously filled with that yummy ricotta. Started off with garlic knots..very good with lots of garlic! Tossed salad was fresh. Pizza was excellent... probably the best flavor overall in pizza sauces! I walked in to order my pizza and they were really nice. This is just around the corner and we moved here recently in the area. The pepperoni pizza was ok but not great. The pizza didn't seem to have a lot of flavor. The crust was pretty tasty though but not enough for me to get excited about it. Lived in the area a long time and finally tried this after hearing so much about it...Got a 14" cheese.. and a 16" ham, feta and black olive. Had 6 eaters and everyone loved it.... the cheese ( which is how one measures a pizza joint) was fantastic ... perfect combo of sauce and cheese... crust hints of perhaps garlic.. very good.... the feta ham and olive combo was a huge hit... again right balance of toppings so that one does not over power the others ... our new go to! read more
