It was difficult (using GPS) to find an open street leading to the Co-Op, but we managed. All the employees of the Co-Op were very friendly and commiserated with me about driving and parking. Even the customers were friendly and helpful. The Co-Op is the best place to go for groceries in Ashland. Check it out!

It's on the bottom of the cake and she then says you didn't see the plastic when you were serving these cakes to these kids? First of all no I did not, omg are you suggesting I was negligent? I cut the cake in wedges from the box and served it flat on a white plate. I remember looking at the plates and did not see it. I did not expect the plastic. I suspect that it was wedged on the side of the cake and it got pushed in. It went unnoticed because if you see the picture it's pretty noticeable, it's an 1.5" piece of paper with plastic tape but if it's in the cake I'm not going to see it. They offered a refund and they can have it. I am dissatisfied with this place and their lack of professionalism. I was an upset mom and they treated me like I was culpable of serving plastics to little kids. To the manager who called me a liar that there was no ingredients on the paper, read it for yourself. I was simply describing what was found in the cake.

They make the best homemade salsa and soup in the surrounding area!! It's worth the drive and not too far out of the way. Forewarning, the salsa is on the sweeter side, per se, and I usually get 'medium' but they also have 'hot'. I've never had anything like it, it's sooo good. They have just about anything you'd want from a farmers market and my pictures don't really do it justice. And guess what, they're open 6 days a week!! The owner still makes her mouth-watering assortment of soups, but now-a-days instead of having them steaming hot in crock pots for patrons to scoop their desired amount, they are prepackaged and frozen for all to enjoy when it suits them. She says they are even more popular than before. It looks like the same modest place as before, very inviting, and well stocked. I'm thankful we have places like this around! So instead of going to get an almost $40 friend chicken meal at a restaurant, I recreated a bougie meal for under $12. The brute was a gift...LOL! The chicken was really good and everything else complimented it. I came here last year because I baked two cakes and they had everything I needed. Great store to come to, though some of the customers are a little sketch...LOL!

I think I was the first person to place my order that year. I ordered a 16 pound turkey. I intended to cook it in my Oster Roaster, which yields a very moist, almost rotisserie - style result. I was one of the first people to get to Natural Grocers to pick up my turkey. When I got there the person bringing the turkeys out from the back brought out a huge 22+ pound turkey and said this was all she had left. I protested that I had reserved a 16 pound bird and that I didn't need a 22 pound turkey. She looked at me in a very un-compassionate way and said, "This is all we've got. Take it or leave it." I took it because I had to feed 15 people on Thanksgiving and they wanted turkey and dressing!!! My husband and I brined it in the 24 hours before Thanksgiving. It's a good thing that we did because a 22 pound turkey was far too large for our Oster Roaster. The lid would not close!!! OMGosh. Michael and I just looked at each other in horror. We knew all the sides that we had planned to prepare and cook partly in our oven while the turkey was roasting in the Oster. We put it in the oven to roast and within an hour the skin had turned dark black. Michael asked, "What are we going to do?" I said "Cook the dang bird. Then we'll take the skin off and pray that it is moist underneath." In the meantime we got to work in the kitchen on all the sides. Now bear in mind, an Oster Roaster cooks a perfectly tender, moist turkey in far less time than roasting it in a convection oven. We had no idea if that turkey was going to be done by the time our guests started arriving. We just persevered. What else could we do? I will admit that we considered serving them steaks, which we would've had to defrost but we decided that somehow we would pull a rabbit out of the hat. In this case, an edible turkey. When our probe timer told us the internal temperature was where it needed to be, we removed our totally black turkey from the oven. Michael said to me, "I'll handle this. You finish the sides." I gave him a huge platter, at his request, and carving knives and -- with immense relief -- continued to work on everything else, all of which were completed right on time. Our guests began to arrive and I plyed them with good wine, which made them very happy. I said nothing about what we had gone through that day and, in a few minutes, Michael walked in from the outer kitchen with the huge turkey platter arranged perfectly. My brilliant husband had removed all the skin and arranged the white meat on 3/4 of the platter and the dark meat on the remaining 1/4 just like a caterer. It was PERFECT!!! I told the guests to help themselves and I went to my room, shut the door, and collapsed. I didn't know it but Michael did the same thing. We had been under so much stress that neither of us could eat a single bite. One of our guests was Matt Sheehan, a gifted local chiropractor (Family Chiropractic). He came to my room and worked on me for about 30 minutes and I was restored. (Did I mention he is gifted?) When I came out everyone was raving about the food. Michael and I were both very relieved about that but the stress we had been under because of the turkey was awful. We made our minds up right then that we would never buy another turkey from Natural Grocers ever again. If you can't trust them to honor the advance reservation that you make for a turkey for such an important day ... well, you can't trust them at all. This year I bought a beautiful fresh Mary's organic turkey for $2.99 per pound at ShopNCart in Ashland with no stress at all, I am very pleased to report. A friend of ours is going to smoke it for us and, believe me, he is a world class smoker. When one door closes, another opens!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I'm visiting family in the rouge valley and had to pick up some groceries. I stepped inside of Rays and was disgusted with the appearance. The store has too many things all crammed into such a tiny grocery store that its hard to maneuver. Aside from that I took a stroll over to the produce department and to my surprise almost everything was wilted. I did not have a very pleasant time shopping here and I gladly give this horrible place a 1 star. read more

Rays is now denying service to people with medical conditions if they are not wearing a mask. The rays in talent informed me that I can not be in the store without a mask. They offered no specific alternative and told me I would not be allowed in without a mask. You're very lucky I'm only writing a review. Next time it's to the lawyers office. read more

This place is god awful. For starters the entire grocery store smells like mildew and all their produce is wilted and old looking. Not to mention more than half the staff looks miserable and depressed. Please do not shop here for the prices are sky high and the attitudes from the employees are terrible. read more

The date on the package: June 2026. The day after that, we discovered the chili had expired in March 2026. After the holiday weekend, we called the store. The employee who answered the phone told us to come in that week to talk to the owner, Craig. When I went in, the cashier went to speak with the owner, who talked loudly enough for me to overhear him angrily question whether I was local (I said, yes I live here), then he accused me of trying to scam him out of money. His actual words were "SCAM-NEEDS MONEY." He agreed only to replace the items and not offer a refund, since I did not have a receipt. We have been customers here for 4 years and am rarely if ever offered a receipt. When I went to grab replacements off the shelf, every can of that brand of chili had expired in February or March 2026. This was July. I brought the expired cans to the cashier and asked him what to do since they were all expired and he said "I don't care, get a different brand." Many other brands were expired too. I managed to find one can of a different brand expiring this month and took it. Not a single package of hot dog buns had a July date. All of them were from June. The excuse offered: "They were frozen, we add our own stickers with new dates to the back." Except ours grew mold in under 48 hours. We will never shop here again under this ownership and after sharing my experience, it sounds like many locals have had negative experiences and do not shop here. If you choose to shop at the Ruch Country Store, check the dates on everything you buy here, and ask for a receipt. Accusing loyal customers of running a scam while your shelves are stocked with expired food that can make people sick is disgraceful. If just need the bare essentials, the market a few doors down will treat you better. This store is the real scam.

No big deal, mistakes happen, we just didn't get to have chili dogs. The following day I open the buns to find mold over several of the remaining in the bag. Check the date and it says June 26. So now we're a little ticked off and call the store, a cashier answers and she says that the owner wasn't in that day and because we didn't have a receipt (we've never been offered one in over 4 years of coming here) that we should come in during the week and he would take care of it. Wife goes in and is met with resistance from the cashier because of the lack of receipt. He goes and talks to the owner who spoke loud enough for my wife to overhear him question if we were even local to the area and then say that we were probably just trying to scam him out of money. He only agreed to replace the items for us. Cashier tells her we can replace the items and to grab them off the shelf. All 15 or 20 cans of that brand of chili were also expired in March or Feb of 26, as were a lot of the other brands. She was able to find a can that expired this month so she took it. None of the other hot dog buns had even a July expiration date, all from June. "But they were frozen so the shelf life is longer than that." Okay, except they were moldy in less than 48 hours. This overall experience has ensured I will never shop here again until there are new owners (there will be with how he runs things). But I felt compelled to leave this review for the rest of our community in hopes that the ones who cannot go to other stores will at least check dates on their food and ask for receipts. It's disgusting to act the way he did knowing full well the store is packed with expired food that can make people sick or worse. Buy your beer from the market just a few doors down if that's all you need, because this store is the true SCAM!!
