Bought a 6.5lb prime rib roast for Christmas 2025, upon cooking & carving found it was about 75% fat. What would be considered the back end of the roast was all fat with a tiny circle of meat in the inside. The front was a little better but much too fatty also. read more

Customer service is outstanding as usual. Came in to get some info and to try out the dog food for our large breed fur baby. We ended up with the 5-pound chub of the 4-meat mixture for $2/pound. It comes frozen in a pre-measured plastic casing; easy to slice and repackage for freezing at home. The butcher recommended that we start with a mix ratio of: 1/4 raw meat mixture + 3/4 of his regular high quality puppy kibble (raw meat is VERY RICH AND FILLING). ***NO JOKE, the 1st time my pup left food in the bowl because he was SO FULL with the raw meat mixed with the identical amount of kibble* 4 meat Butcher's Choice - 1% ground bone, 10% organ meat, 15% fat, 74% blend of all natural beef, lamb, elk and buffalo meat. $2/pound for 5-pound chub OR buy just 1lb for $2.29. *The 5 meat blend is the same as above, but they add chicken to the mix; same price. We also purchased a variety of dog bones: knee cap $0.75, marrow bones $2, shank $4. Butcher states that they are heat dried (not smoked) for 1-1.5hrs to harden the bone. ***UPDATE: These bones make the biggest mess! LIARS & FRAUDS! I went here the other day & picked out some nice wonderful steaks only to get home and find out they sneakily swapped them out for very old smelly, disfigured steaks! Growing up, I always had rabbit for certain occasions... great Steak for special BBQs and local butcher shops always knew their customers and treated them with a smile and courtesy. The Eagle Point Butcher shop is that little gem in my adult life. Their Prime Sirloin is too die for... the rabbit is good (wish it was a little bit bigger..but still yummy and properly cleaned) Their little packets of meat sticks are YUMMY!! Especially if you enjoy cheddar and jalapeno. They also have a wonderful selection of pet gifts (get them bones!!!) ... local wine...and fresh produce and seafood. I have been a faithful follewer of Cam and his great efforts at providing the highest quality of beef, pork and other products. Lately, I have become disenchanted with the condescending folks behind the counter. They allow people to walk in to the store without maks while all other customers are complying as members of a caring society. I was sorely disappointed by the lack of backbone to enforce the sign listed on their own door and in the store. The employees stood up for the individual and reprimanded those of us in compliance. It is unfortunate that employees can place the business in harms way-- or that of their customers. Sad to have to shop elsewhere after all the years as a loyal customer. read more

Although it was packed with patrons, I only waited about 2 minutes for help at the meat counter to get the fish I wanted. Definitely going there again. I have never done a review but the longer I sit the madder I get. We sent in 3 beef.....each person sharing had a cut sheet. I was very specific in what I wanted, I am a senior who lives alone. Here is my issue .... I asked for the steaks to be 1 in a pack...I paid $.95 cut and wrap on the whole beef to get that. I asked for no tenderloin but to leave it on the steaks, I got little tiny tenderloins which mean nothing. I asked for 1 lb hamburger, I got 2 lbs.....I ask for 1 prime rib roast (for Easter) didn't get that.....I got all ribeyes.....I called.....and I can't get over what they said.....they told me to bring the ribeyes back, they would tie them together and make a roast!!! Can you imagine? I was so speechless, I actually said goodbye and hung up. Either the person who goes over the cut sheets or the butcher paid no attention to my requests.....It cost me $1500 for butchering 3 beef......They won't miss me, they are always busy.....probably too busy for personal care. I cannot afford to pay for something I can't count on and unlike department stores, you cannot return an unsatisfactory product. The bottom line is if there is a question, they owe it to the customer to contact them.....too late for me but maybe it will help someone else.....oh, I forgot....they did offer to sell me a prime rib at their cost......way too generous.....that was like adding insult to injury........I had a ham for Easter!!! read more

I loved this place until yesterday. I went in to buy 15lbs of meat for my nephews birthday party. We asked for it to be cut carne asada style and after getting home we were surprised that half of the meat was sliced over an inch thick. The guys always been friendly, but as a result of us coming in about 20mins before they were closing we got screwed. Very disappointing. See picture that was uploaded. From now on I will be sure to check the cut at the shop before leaving. This was very disappointing, and I hope that when I give them another opportunity, I won't be disappointed again. read more

Over 3 weeks now and still no updates on my deer I dropped off.When I call all they say is "we will call you when it's ready". My caribou from Tok Alaska was butchered, packed and shipped to my door in Oregon in 12 days and that included the summer sausage. Well I have learned my lesson on who NOT to use in the future. I hope I have helped you avoid making the same mistake. I'm sure they have good meats for sale but I will go elsewhere from here on out. read more

This shop deserves a negative rating for the absolute worst customer service and most disrespectful employees and owner I have ever dealt with. We called them right after landing a Bull Elk and was told by a gentleman there to bring it down. We said to him it would be tomorrow as we have an 8 plus hour drive to get it there. He said no problem! The next day we arrive And walk in only to be told by some lady claiming to be one of the owners that they were not taking any more meat in. We explained to her that we just drove 8 plus hours to get it to them because we were told to bring it down and she could care less and said "Sorry not taking anything else in.". Never once were we told first come first serve or better hurry we're filling up quick, they said bring it down, we got ya! But that didn't happen. Turned away with no remorse whatsoever after an 8 hour drive. We walk back in once to just try and see if there is anything they can do and the employees are looking at each other saying "not it" insinuating that they didn't want to deal with us. The level of disrespect at this shop is unreal. Do not take your business here. Unless of course you like to support trash like these folks. read more

I've been coming to the Butcher Shop for about a year now. Making gourmet hot dogs next week and they have fabulous ones here! The hot dogs are big enough to stuff them (if you like to do so). The staff is always super helpful and very nice! For those of you reading this that has a dog, they do sell dog food here. I usually get the mix of five meats in 1-lbs. I have a German Shepherd and I'm able to make that food last for three meals (cooking the meat and mixing it with her dog food). It's comforting to know what she's getting over canned dog food with who knows what. Thanks you! read more

This butcher shop is a real find! worth the drive from anywhere in the Rogue Valley to get their meats and seafood! and of course, local veggies! The meat is top notch, locally raised with grass fed and a grain finish-according to the nice young man working there. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. This place is so great. I buy at least 75% of my meat here and it's well worth the drive from Medford. Beef is all top-notch and the pepper bacon is amazing. During the summer months, they also sell a variety of produce (some local, some not), so I can stock up on potatoes and corn and whatnot there. They also stock local beers, cheese and other good stuff that you didn't know you needed until you see it. Very friendly and fast service. It can get a bit busy in there during the late afternoon and it's a little small inside, but I've never had to wait more than a minute or two for service. read more

We stopped in here once last spring and it was good. Now that we can't buy our meat during the winter at the farmer's market we have found ourselves returning to The Butcher quite frequently this winter. I buy their smoked ham hocks and make bean soup from them. Their ground sirloin is top notch and their new York strip steaks melt in your mouth! They also have a decent seafood selection. Staff is friendly and this is the best meat in town. I'll never buy from the supermarket again! Update 4/27/12: I have been making weekly visits to the butcher shop for months now. I had to make a lot of diet changes this year. I can eat meat and high protein snacks, however I cannot have meats that are cured with sugar or nitrates. So I asked the owner if they made nitrate/sugar free meats and he said that he would make some special for me. It has not been made yet, but I am sure that it will be quite tasty when it is ready! I raise and show AKC Champion English Setters and feed Callahans meat for my setters. The first meal my baby puppies is the raw meat. They love it. My adults get Callahans raw meat with a bit of Natures Domain non grain kibble. And I buy raw bones by the case to help keep their teeth clean, and the chicken jerky is great safe dog show bait..
