I have to agree with many reviews here. Very arrogant ownership and extremely rude and poor customer service. I own a local small business and approached them about possibly placing an artisan food product in their store. I already sell my product in other southern Oregon grocery outlets and it's very popular, sells very well, and would be a perfect fit in a "high end" butcher shop. I was directed to a lady named Stacy whom I assumed was one of the owners. I left multiple free samples of my product for them to sample in hopes that they would find it not only delicious but a good fit in their shop. I was told to call back the next week and they would let me know if they were interested. I was also hopeful that they would appreciate and support another local startup small business. Well, no such luck. When I called back I was told that they hadn't even tried any of the samples I had left and was told to call back again later in the week. I called again on the day was told to call and I was told the owner wasn't there. To make a long story short I called multiple times and I became quite clear that they never did sample my product. I'm sure Stacy eventually just tossed it in the trash. Eventually Stacy stopped even taking my calls. It would have been fine if they didn't feel that the product wasn't right for their shop. It was however very disappointing that a very successful local business was so unwilling to support another start up local small business. Also, the rude and dismissive attitude they displayed was was very revealing I think as to how they do business. If you want a true high quality local butcher shop with very helpful butchers and great customer service I would recommend passing on the Butcher Shop and heading to Cartwright's. Now this is a great place for all kinds of meats, fish, with just about every kind of meat! They gave some great dog treats and a selection of vegetables! I've tried the Porterhouse Steaks previously and really enjoyed them. They had a pulled pork cooked with garlic and other seasonings that I had fun grilling in a skillet each day making a sandwich or putting it in a flour tortilla with some cheese and avocado that was delicious! The latest Steak I tried was not cheap but they were Tenderloin steaks, thick, tender and I bought mushrooms at the Butcher Shop. Sautéed onions and mushrooms really made theses steaks 5 Stars not to mention we got more than two meals out of these delicious steaks. And the staff are all really helpful if you aren't sure what you want or how much for your party! Strongly recommended if you like using your BBQ at home or at a campsite! read more

Spoke with Cameron for a while today and really enjoyed seeing not only his knowledge of the meats, but his passion for pets. They make amazing dog food and Cameron was kind enough to let my pup sample some flavors. Preceding this review, my review does not reflect the customer service staff or the product this business delivers. Both have been great to this time. The reason this business gets one star is because of the ownership. I recently had 1/2 beef cut and wrapped here, when I went to pick it up some of the cuts were not what I had ordered. I called on Saturday which is the day I picked it up and was told they were too busy to go over my order which I completely understood. Monday morning I get a call from Cameron (the owner), berating me about inquiring about my order, claiming I called 5-6 times, in actuality it was once on Saturday afternoon. When I told him he was being incredibly hostile, this angered him more and he told me he doesn't want to do custom cutting anymore and they are getting out of it. The he stated the only reason it is done is because of his brother. Then he proceeded to tell me that they no longer wanted my business and to take it elsewhere. Cameron you got your wish, I will never step foot in your establishment and I will steer every person who asks about your business as far away from you as possible. read more

For years my husband has had wild game butchered here. They have always done a good job. Because of this we recently brought our game to be processed. I stayed in the truck while my husband dealt with the game. I did not hear the entire conversation but I heard a man screaming at my husband. My husband asked what his name was and he said he was Cameron and he owned the business. Cameron was almost frantic in his anger. He kept repeating he had no time for this and he was too busy. I have never seen anyone treated so disrespectfullly by a business owner. We will never spend another penny in their business. This is a valley with a small town atmosphere. Word gets around. I am taking every opportunity to share our experience with other people. Cameron, don't worry. If you continue to treat the rest of your customers this way you won't have to be worried about being too busy. We did go to Cartwrights after this. They told us they don't butcher wild game, but they were polite and respectful and gave us names of other businesses who could assist us. What a difference in customer service. read more

Today was our first visit to The Butcher Shop. We traveled from Ashland to pick up a lamb they processed for us and were surprised to find a full service butcher shop with lots of extras on the outskirts of Eagle Point. Chris waited on us and gave us great care. In addition to our lamb we purchased fresh salmon and scallops and shrimp. The quality of everything was top notch and the prices very reasonable. I am not a relative but I am a super happy new customer - for life for sure. We will make the journey again. read more

It's definitely worth the drive to buy my meats here! Believe me, my husband and I taste tested another place's products locally close to where we live and we are hooked on the quality and service at The Butcher Shop! I buy my bone in pork chops, breakfast links and tubes of breakfast sausage and spicy sausage every month and the flavor profiles they create are excellent and the choices they make of things they don't create are very good. They even were able to cut Korean style barbecue ribs for me. I look forward to expanding my horizons and trying other meats. Their store keeps on getting better and better! The only suggestion I could make is the store have a binder for customers telling us their specialized services and meat facts (eg pasture fed, antibiotic free etc., local source), and tips on meat preparation for each cut of meat or fish. There could be a recipe of the month printed out for a specific cut. I would love to try rabbit but I have no clue on what to be careful of when preparing it for a positive outcome. I used to love this place! I've spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on meat from this spot over the years as my family LOVES using our smoker. I recently got into smoking tri tip like a brisket which requires fat on tri tip for the long smoke. They are not generally too easy to get to my knowledge so I have been calling the butcher shop here and there in order to find one before Labor Day weekend. I was told yesterday that I would likely be able to get one today and to call in at 11am. I did that and I spoke with the owner. I'm a very understanding and patient man but the owner made it seem as if they are impossible to get and if anyone could get one it would be them, and he told me sternly and rudely, "good luck finding one!" Anyways, I made one quick call to Cherry Street meats and they have them and are under USDA inspection there. They sounded happy to take my business. I gave the owner a call back and thanked him for saving me the weekly trip out to the Butcher Shop. read more

Went in to find hard to find, Organ meats,( Lung, heart, kidney, pancreas, ect) for my animals. The owner said he has it but absolutely refused to sell me any. Said it was not for human consumption and could not sell it to me, even though he will sell it ground up for dog food. my only thought is that it is such poor quality that he does not want to sell it whole. so Beware if you are buying their dog food. Also, All of his so called bakery items there are not labeled properly in the ingredients list. They have ingredients like salad oil and does not say what type of oil is in it. I was hopeful to find a good quality butcher shop. The meat looked really good quality there, However I absolutely will not do business with someone who treats potential customers like I was treated. If you don't want to sell me something at least give me a valid reason. read more

Hands down the best butcher we have ever been to. Not only is the meat humanely raised without hormones and antibiotics but some are organic. Their prices are lower than any store around for the same quality. They are just the nicest folks, oblivious they like their jobs. And the have a wide selection of game meats. Right up my alley. Not to mention that they make their own brand of humane grade dog food. Which my husband tried a sample of by mistake and like it. Now he is willing to try liver and onions. read more
