I had tried another BBQ around Norman that yelp recommended and I will say, this place beats the others. The signage gives old Route 66 vibes, the inside gives an authentic bbq feel. If you are in Norman and looking for some BBQ, do not believe other voices, you must try Vans.

The meats and sides here are fantastic. They are cooked right and plenty of moisture in the meats. The smaller extrude fresh cut fries are killer. Okra is great. 5+ stars this place is. Their turkey breast is NEVER EVER dry. This is the place that made me fall in love with Grilled Turkey breast. We made it through the line and went to the tables that have their own BBQ sauce, Louisiana Hot Sauce and their own salt and pepper. They also have a cute bar that has pickles, onions, jalapeños, and peppers. So if you are ever in Norman for a football, basketball, baseball or softball game after it's over or before it begins stop on Highway 9 and treat yourself to Rudy's. You won't be disappointed.

Honestly, I don't know how this place has the ratings it does. The ribs were the biggest disappointment. They tasted and had the texture of baked ribs rather than ribs that had actually been cooked on a BBQ pit. There was no noticeable smoke flavor or char, and they honestly didn't taste like they had ever seen a grill or smoker. When I go to a BBQ restaurant, that smoky BBQ flavor is exactly what I'm looking for. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was also extremely bland. All I could really taste was the cheddar. You couldn't taste much jalapeño, seasoning, or BBQ flavor at all. Again, that's not what I expect from a BBQ sausage. Then we tried the turkey, which honestly tasted like deli meat you could buy sliced at a grocery store. Very disappointing. They let us try some brisket, and unfortunately that was just as bland. It had very little, if any, noticeable smoke flavor. For me, brisket is one of the main things I judge a BBQ restaurant on, and this was a huge letdown. The potato salad was probably the best thing we had. It was decent, but even that was pretty bland and could have used more seasoning. For dessert, we had the banana pudding, which is one of my favorites. It was okay, but it was watery and didn't have the creamy pudding consistency I expected. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing BBQ meals I've had. I went in hungry and genuinely excited to eat some good BBQ, and unfortunately almost everything we tried fell short. I would not go back or recommend this place. 0/10 for me. Definitely would not try this place again.

For more than $90 for two people, this buffet delivered cold, substandard food, indifferent service, and a manager who treated a legitimate complaint with pure dismissiveness. I will not be returning, and I will make sure others know exactly what to expect. The problems started the moment we arrived. One employee was stuck working the counter while several parties waited. The manager stood nearby doing absolutely nothing to help. No sense of urgency, no attempt to clear the backlog--just passive observation while customers waited. I then went to wash my hands and discovered the men's restroom was a single-occupancy facility that remained occupied for an unreasonably long time. Multiple women came and went from the women's restroom without issue while I continued waiting. By the time I asked an employee if there was another sink available, my wife had already washed her hands, collected her food from the buffet, returned to our table, and been sitting there for several minutes. The employee's solution was to send me back into the casino to use a sink on the left. After already waiting far too long, this was both inconvenient and insulting, but I complied. When I finally reached the buffet, the offerings were appalling. The prime rib was old and cold. The turkey was the same. Bread hard, but vegetables were essentially nonexistent beyond a basic salad. I took what little there was anyway because my wife had already been waiting an excessive amount of time. Once I sat down, she told me the food was so bad she could only manage two bites and planned to try the desserts instead. I attempted to push through my own plate and quickly discovered the same truth.Nearly everything was in poor condition and simply should not have been served. The food was not merely underwhelming--it was genuinely inedible. I asked to speak with the manager. When she arrived, I calmly explained the entire experience and requested a refund for a meal that had cost us over $90. Her response was that because some of the food had been eaten, she would not issue a refund. She offered a credit toward a future buffet visit instead. I told her plainly that I had no interest in any credit--why would I want to return for more of the same inedible food? Her refusal to address the actual problem and her attempt to push a credit as a solution only compounded the insult. I left completely unsatisfied in every possible way. Long waits, inadequate facilities, cold and unacceptable food, and a manager who prioritized protecting the house over treating a customer fairly. This place and its management failed at the most basic level of hospitality. I will not return, and I will make sure others hear about the poor quality and the dismissive attitude that greeted a legitimate complaint. Save your money and go somewhere that actually cares about what it serves and how it treats people.

Hands down best bar-b-que in the area. Place gets really busy at lunch but it's worth it to go early, late or even wait for a table. I love their hot link sandwich but I've tried most of their menu over the last 5 years.
