Raymond's has a great vibe - food, service and cool atmosphere in both rooms are all plusses. It manages to have character with the red booths, tin ceilings and marble bar without jumping the shark to theme restaurant status. We like stopping in for brunch when we can, but usually without the kids since it can get tight with all the small plates and cups they seem to serve everything in. The brunch options rise above normal diner fare - favorites include the breakfast burrito with chorizo and avocado and their frittata specials; bacon is good too. The jelly the serve with the toast (if you're meal comes with it - strangely, many don't) is also really tasty. My two (small) gripes - the coffee is average at best (you need great coffee at a breakfast joint that aspires beyond diner status) and the portioning is small. Make sure to order a side or two, and you'll be good to go. Overall - fun place, strong addition to Ridgewood, and a nice change of pace to the Daily Treat and Pancake House. read more

Been here several times for Sunday Brunch. Always a little bit a a wait but well worth it. Food and service is terrific. Have also been twice for dinner, Raymond's does great justice to comfort food in a clean and friendly environment. read more

I have yet to eat anything distasteful here. From their teas to food you won't regret a single thing you eat here.

I love Raymond's for breakfast and lunch or light dinner. Excellently prepared food and great service. Everything I've had there is delicious! I especially loved the blueberry pie in season--never had better--wow!!!! I love to go here. The only downside which deters me is parking in Ridgewood is not free--pay the meter--they will ticket you if you don't. The other downside is the noisy acoustics inside the place. Every conversation when the place is packed just raises the volume--hard to talk above at times. Hamburgers, wraps to breakfast fare is just awesome. read more

I would've given the place 4 stars because the food is good but the service is slooooow. Our waiter only checked with us once and it took forever to get our check. I wondered if was only our server, but when I looked around I could see that a number of patrons were giving that "where is my server" look around the restaurant. I would go back to try a few more dishes, but only when I have a free lazy day and it isn't nap time for the kids. read more

We have been going to Raymond's in Montclair and here in Ridgewood for years. They have changed their huevos rancheros recipe here in Ridgewood- used to be the best on the menu. Sadly now a disappointment. Why fix what's not broken? Please go back to what you're so well known for. read more

Turkey burger is delicious. Handmade and not a frozen patty. Iced green tea was also yummy and refreshing. Husband tried raspberry lime rickey beverage - says it was "pretty cool". Fries were hot and shoestring style. Not bad but could use a little seasoning. read more

As a vegan, I love the options I can have here. The beet burger is amazing (w/o mayo)! Fries are like McDonalds... I love the atmosphere and how it is almost always busy, except for the occasional quiet evenings. Staff is sweet. Prices are either OK or too high. read more

Really good diner but the prices are a little too high. I've had the chicken paillarde several times and its delicious. The chicken is always tender and juicy. The added veggies and salad bring out the flavors as well. Overall a great spot. read more

A local diner with a casual feel. Food is good, great place for a family with small kids.

Had a lovely breakfast there. Very good food, the service was a little slow but they were busy. Very interesting food options. Would definitely go back! read more

Ever since my first time here, I haven't wanted to dine anywhere else! Everything on the menu is outstanding

Had the fish and chips for dinner. On the plus side, the wait staff was great. The fish and chips were fried to perfection. On the downside, the amount of fish was rather skimpy - three small pieces - whereas the amount of chips (fries) was very large. I noticed the same thing at other tables where people were having burgers and fries. read more

Came here today for a first day of Pre k breakfast with our daughter. My husband and I both ordered omlets and my daughter had the kiddie pancakes. The kiddie pancakes were huge. My daughter was so happy and ate the whole thing( with. A little help). Our Omlets were yummy and fluffy. Our waitress was great and brought my daughter extra orange slices when she asked. read more

Had brunch here today, Sunday, June 1st. This place is hit or miss. Ordered 2 omelettes (one with sausage on the side) and eggs Benedict. Also, 2 breve lattes and a regular coffee. No bread was served with the omelettes and the sausages never came. The breve lattes were regular lattes. Our server mysteriously disappeared but magically reappeared in time to deliver check and accept gratuity. We didn't get a chance to tell him we'd been duped out of our breves and sausages. I really want to like this place because it's local and we've had some luck with the other tasty offering. After being here a dozen times, I can only conclude that you win some and you lose some. Great marshmallows if you're into that sort of thing. read more

Cute little spot in Ridgewood amidst the other restaurants on the Main Street. Went for Sunday brunch Food was okay. Food: French toast- as seen in other people's pictures, it is not your traditional challah bread french toast. It's made with French baguette - very hard, no flavor. I had asked the half order- it came with 3 pieces of hard ass bread, no fruits, had to ask for syrup. The bread was so hard, you could probably use it as a softball. It did not seem like it was dripped in milk or eggs, no like baked in the oven for a while- to make croutons. Cobb salad ( sans bacon) - good portion. Best park was the shredded chicken. The menu indicated that it included green beans, eggs, tomatoes. I saw maybe 3-4 small cut up pieces of green beans and I did not see any eggs. Veggie burger- not into the Moroccan spice. Taste like Indian food ( not a big fan) not sure if it's the cumin, or what. Service was good/okay. Would I go back? Ummm not any time soon. I would probably try another place in the area. read more

Not sure what the hype is surrounding Raymond's. I've gone a handful of times and everything I've had is just OK. Pancakes, eggs in Brioche and a Mexican breakfast burrito were all just alright. Not the kind of place I would object to going to, but definitely not a preference. read more

Awesome place. Really tastefully done, fantastic service. Never had a bad meal here. great for kids. Best breakfast joint in the area.

Decent diner with some healthy options. Nicer than the Montclair location. Wasn't blown away nor disappointed.

This is my go-to place to eat in town. Love the atmosphere and the vibes. Very trendy. Food is great ( I highly recommend the Avocado Toast with poached egg) A lot of space and very friendly staff. read more

Raymond's is a go-to stop! Whether it's for there amazing French toast or there quinoa breakfast bowl! Very friendly staff... only down side is no refills to iced coffee ! read more

Raymond's - Comfort Food Near Me - Ridgewood, New Jersey

Used to be a favorite spot for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Recently I was disappointed with the menu changes. The food was just ok. Staff is still very friendly and it's clean and pretty. I thought the food was a lot better before. read more

I'm unsure why this only has 3 1/2 stars. I personally loved every aspect. Went sunday afternoon, crowded but only a 5 min wait. Decor is so cute. I had breakfast burrito bowl which was delicious! I did ask for a side hot sauce. Boyfriend had chicken avocado sandwhich i believe which was messy but so good. I highly recommend it read more

We arrived this past Saturday at around 9:30 am. There was no line so we were seated immediately. I ordered an omlet and wife, eggs benedict. Both were very good! We will certainly go back. read more

I had been waiting over a year for Raymond's to open in Ridgewood. The sign, "coming soon" teased us for so long. Was it worth the wait? Well, in a town where every other storefront seems to be a restaurant, it didn't impress me enough to stand out among the other restaurants (or stand on line to get a seat!). There are two other places that offer breakfast and I would rank Raymond's last on my list. (Daily Treat is my #1 and the Country Pancake House is my #2.) The pros: -The moment you walk in, you feel transported to a really nice diner. The counter seating is very spacious and nostalgic. The wood trim is very nice and adds warmth. The windows are large and keep the space full of light. The second dining room is more "pub-like" in nature. It is covered in all dark wood with NO windows and has antiqued mirrors running the circumference to give the illusion to the patron that they are in a larger room. (It doesn't work) -The service is excellent. Every person working there was friendly and on their game. -The location is smack dab in the middle of town which is perfect for everyone, across the street from the bus station and 2 blocks from the train station. -The food is delicious. I think they cook everything in butter. Not a bad thing in my book. Love butter! Cons: -The menu is very limited. I was surprised at how little variety was offered. If I recall, there were about 5 items for breakfast (French toast, eggs any way, an omelette, oatmeal and something else). It is definitely a much smaller menu then the Raymond's in Montclair... -The cost! They are expensive. I ordered two eggs over easy which came with home fries and toast. $6.95. My local diner charges half that and is more generous with the home fries! My dining partner ordered the French Toast which was $8. It is essentially a French baguette cut into four parts, dipped in batter and fried in butter. It is served with a handful of fresh berries. DELICIOUS (I snuck a bite or two) but not worth the $$$. -The NOISE. Unfortunately, the acoustics in this place are horrendous. It is so big that conversations travel and it just gets really loud there quickly. -The space/seating. I get that space is limited and rent is high in ridgewood. They did a decent job of spacing out tables, but there are quite a number of sections where people are sitting on top of each other. The "pub-like" room pretty much entirely has tables that are very narrow and chairs that are uncomfortably small. Neither I nor my dining partner are overweight or tall (5'6" and 5'2") and we felt cramped. Perhaps it is a ploy to limit patrons from overstaying their welcome? Turn over the tables quicker? Overall, Raymond's isn't that bad of a place, it's just not living up to the hype. I won't be returning anytime soon. I am disappointed. Wish there was more variety in their offerings, larger portions and a little more room in their seating. read more

love you raymonds! I LOVE going there for lunch! i work in ridgewood and they have such a cute place you can go and have a great meal... but maybe you guys can add more to the menu!!? read more

We came here for an early dinner with kids and it was a GREAT place to go for a young family. First of all, we were not the only ones with kids there in the early evening. Secondly, the staff was really friendly bringing kid activities and tattoos to the table (not something I usually expect from a restaurant, but a much appreciated plus!) Several waitstaff helped us during the course of our meal, and everyone was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was noisy, but that seemed to be more an accoustics issue. But the thing that makes this restaurant worth it is, 100%, the AMAZING food. The dishes appear simple, but are so filled with flavor we ALL cleared our plates. I would strongly recommend this restaurant! read more

I've been to Raymond's twice now, the most recent being last week. I have had the French toast, which is very good- not what I expected, it seemed like it was deep fried to me but still great! Also had the hot chocolate which comes with a big fat homemade marshmallow. Yum! Also had the blt w/avocado on 7 grain bread which was delicious, but no mayo on the sandwich, which I was surprised at. My friend's burger was awesome! I just wish there wasn't always a wait when you go there :( read more

OK, I never yelped before good or bad . But, Raymonds in Ridgewood has sucked since it opened and still Sucks... We have been there 4 x since it opened , waiting lengths of time ...hoping it would get better thinking on each visit that they would have to have gotten their shit together by now.. Nothing has gotten better here ...actually worse , and I am sorry we even gave another shot tonight. Funny , I have known Raymond for years and he always asked us if he should open in Ridgewood , and we of course said yes, Raymonds would be a great add-on to the rather lame but many restaurants in the area, and what I thought at the time would make a few other places in town step it up a notch...WHAT...no way. Where are you Raymond??? read more

I have only eaten here for breakfast a few times. Best coffee in town and the mug was enormous. The omelette was out of this world and the huevos rancheros was the best I have had in a long time. The service is always quick & friendly. Parking is a bit difficult but it is worth finding a spot. This is my favorite place to get breakfast in the Ridgewood area. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

My family and I come here at least once a week. The kiddie menu is great, the staff is flexible, and we always enjoy our meal. Here are some of our favorites: Kids Burger Veggie Chili Green Salad Eggs w. grits (we sub bacon) Any of their daily soups... carrot ginger is a favorite. The BLT with avocado. ...and while I never order it, we know too many people who rave about the Cobb Salad not to mention it! read more

Been here a number of times and Raymond's without a doubt offers the best brunch option in Ridgewood. Nothing is particularly sublime, but everything I've tried is always above average for a suburban diner. The huevos rancheros is good, their corned beef hash is excellent, the hamburger is probably the best I've tried in Ridgewood (without reaching the highs that Shake Shack in Paramus does), their omelettes are good and the french toast is always a great option. The wait can be long on the weekend and is pricier than Country Pancake House down the block but I'd rather pay more and wait than eat mediocre diner food with overly large portions. read more

My personal favorite Raymond's order is French Fries and hot chocolate (and the homemade marshmallow!) with a girl friend on a rainy day. (I hope you don't mind us taking up a table all afternoon!) The ambience is charming and the food is great, whether you're at brunch with the family or lunch with a friend. read more

First and foremost - the atmosphere from lunch to dinner is entirely dramatic. I walked in and immediately was given a table, that's where the boosted star comes into play. I was scowled upon by restaurant eaters alike, the glare of condensing step-ford wives was unbearable and put the entire atmosphere of my mood off. I was not asked how my meal was, nor if I would like a refill on my water. Really disappointed, thought I found a good sit down casual diner. As I ask for change I get big bills, as if I would award mediocracy. Ha, goodbye Raymond's... read more

3.5/5 Good food, albeit a little uninspired for the price-point. Very noisy inside + slower than average service. Definitely not the homestyle, throwback diner I was hoping for but still had a nice lunch. read more

I want to love it, I really do. It's just so so. The food is ok, but I can get the same at the Oakland Diner.

This rating is for their awesome Veggie burger, soooo good!!! My other No.1 veggie burger used to be Portabella on the Bun from Cheesecake Factory. Unfortunately CF took it off from its menu. I'm so glad I found this Veggie Burger at Raymond's, Ridgewood location. Yum yum! read more

Have probably eaten here more than a dozen times over the years, and the food is always better than the average diner. Noise, though, has often been a problem. Today we had breakfast in the back room. It was packed and absolutely deafening. I will never set foot in the back room again, and will avoid the front if it's more than 50% full. read more

Food is good. The french toast is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I wish it had more flavor but can't complain. Huevos Rancheros were AMAZING. Hot Chocolate is amazing, i recommend the Mexican hot chocolate, and don't get the green tea (tasted like grass). It's a beautiful diner with awesome staff, definitely enjoy coming here. read more
