I don't have a lot to add to my earlier review, except that all good things come to an end: Dr Hsu has retired. I found his practice soon after moving to Redmond in 1989; his prices were low to attract customers to his new practice. The prices went up over the years, both due to inflation and Dr Hsu's advancing experience and continuing education. How often does one maintain a professional relationship through an entire career? Anyway, best wishes to him in retirement. Last time I saw Dr Hsu, he had sold his practice to one or more young dentists, and was staying on as the new owners' employee while they got used to being owners of the business. Since that visit, the new owners have relocated a couple of blocks away (apparently the old building is facing demolition), changed the name slightly, and celebrated retirement. Although there's technically some continuity there, I think it's a new business. read more

Ten stars!! Dr. Raymond Hsu and his team provide a warm dental experience unlike anything I have ever experienced before. They are consummate, skilled professionals, and go beyond that to make you feel safe, taken care of, and like family. From the get go, they welcomed me warmly and made me feel at ease. It my first visit, and Dr. Hsu and hygienist Koral sat down with me in his office to discuss my history, concerns, and goals. I've never had a sit down like that before at the dentist. It was so nice. They made it a collaborative care plan. The exam and cleaning were thorough, painless, and informative. They explained every facet of the exam and dental health and I learned a lot! Things that I have not learned from prior dentists. In the office, COO Michelle and Dr. Hsu's daughter Hannah were the sweetest ever. So accommodating with scheduling. Their goal is to create a lifelong, collaborative plan for dental health and stability. I felt very motivated by my visit and happy to have such wonderful people to care for my teeth. I have been receiving excellent care and pleasant experience through here. Doctor Hsu is very welcoming and friendly, and his staff are all nice & professional in person and on the phone. This helps a lot. They send email reminders before appointments, which is very helpful to me. Please note, if you are looking for quick appointments, this is not for you. Everyone at Dr. Hsu's office is so nice and welcoming! His focus is optimizing dental health in order to improve and maintain overall health. A lot of that is just helping you help yourself with your own dental hygiene at home every day, and then supporting that with the best preventative and restorative care. If you are looking for the best possible care in the long term, then I can't imagine a better dentist to choose! Dr. Hsu is a thoughtful and caring man and a skilled dentist. A single modest intervention, 25 years ago, likely saved my bottom front teeth. Out of network for most of the insurance. Cost me about $250 for the initial check, which is usually free. Doctor was like 15 mins late so in total it was like 1.5 hours process. Spent 1 hour for like an interview, asked random questions. Half an hour for a regular check, a lot of X-rays though. Gave some advices but didn't really address any issue. read more

After a less than stellar experience with my previous dentist, I went to Dr. Hsu based on a raving recommendation from a friend. It was the best decision I made for myself personally and for my dental health. Dr. Hsu and his staff treat me like family, and I no longer dread going to the dentist. I have been seeing Dr. Hsu for 20 years, and he and his staff are still well worth the drive out to Redmond--even though I now live in Shoreline and work in Fremont. He engages with me as a partner in the health of my teeth and mouth. He actively engages in ongoing professional development for himself and his staff, and he steadily improves the practices of his office. I cannot remember two visits in a row going exactly the same, as the team continues to modify what they do. As for service and professionalism, I cannot say enough. A great example: he gives his cell phone number out on his office's after-hours phone message. As an existing patient, I can call him 24/7 and consult on any dental emergency. I look forward to recommending Dr. Hsu to anyone who needs a dentist or is investigating changing. read more

Best Dentist Ever!! I decided to go to Dr. Hsu because I need to take care of my cavities and pull out 4 teeth before putting on my braces. I am so thankful that he is my general dentist, and I will keep it this way for as long as I am around this area. Dr. Hsu is very thorough, and his main concern is to keep your teeth nice and healthy for a long time! He will sit down to talk to you before do treatment first, and I believe it's all free consultation. And due to my dentist insurance coverage, and the things I need to be done(couple of fillings, and 4 extractions), he made sure to minimize the cost for me, and postponed some of the treatment to next year when I have new insurance again in order to save some money out of my pocket. He is great on extractions as well, I have pulled out 4 teeth at once and only took him 1 hour. During the surgery, he was very gentle and patient, and tried to make my calm. I was so scared that it was gonna hurt a lot after that, but amazingly, I didn't feel anything after the anesthetic, and I went to work the next day!! Just like the other post, Dr. Hsu also re-taught me how to brush my teeth, and even gave me his personal phone number just in case emergency happens. I would definitely recommend Dr. Hsu to be your dentist, and I have referred my co-worker to there already, and he has the same amazing experience as well!! He worked out a plan with me that was very clear and made a lot of sense and he will help set you up for life so you don't have to worry about dental issues as long as you take care of the necessary issues, then follow his advice and take care of your teeth. I don't know how this place got all these five star reviews. Maybe it's their strategy to charge extra from each patient so they can pay for the ads on Yelp to get great reviews? I would never recommend this place to anyone, here is why: 1. when I first called to make an appointment, they check for your insurance, but they never let you know that they are out of network of most providers; 2. At my first visit for a normal annual checkup, I was informed that they were out of network. I was fine with that, and willing to pay extra money for a good service. 3. The initial consulting meeting took more than 1 hr. I filled several tens of question forms, was asked such questions as 'what condition do you expect your teeth to be in 20 years?', etc. Come on, this is not an interview, I had to take my lunch break from work, and had no time for such nonsense questions; 4. The doctor did some regular check, nothing special, no treatment at all, and didn't even identify a problem I had with one tooth, which was found by my new dentist later. I paid almost $200 out of my pocket for this regular visit, which was usually free, and should be covered 100% by the insurance, based on my past dental visit experience (turned out to be true from later experience too). 5. More than three months later, I got another new bill to pay extra for this regular visit! They even added interest to this bill, starting to count the interest from the day of the service, not from the day they sent the bill! I will pay for this bill, hope it's the last one. Let me just start with I am a complicated patient. I've been fired from offices before. This should lay the foundation. These guys are great!! Their attentive they listen to your wants and need and deliver! I had a crown done a while ago and wasn't the happiest with the shape and color of it. Well the doc only put temp cement in to make sure I would love it before we permanently put it in. It fell out a few years later of course and when I went back I explained I wasn't 100% happy with it. It was a process but they did a FANTASTIC job getting me a new crown and making sure I was absolutely in love. I highly suggest this office for something specific or overall care. They complete the most Thorough exam I have ever experienced. I learned more about my mouth and how to care for it than any other dentist has ever taught me. Worth every penny! Plus your office ladies and assistants are super sweet and make your visit so comfortable. read more

I am so happy I found Dr. Hsu. I came in with a horrible tooth ache, and we just moved here a few years ago and haven't found anyone yet. Luckily they squeezed me in the day I called do to how much discomfort I was in. He made me feel so comfortable, since I was obviously nervous, and put me at ease with the root canal we were going to have to do. I did not feel any pain at all, and was so attentive to any thing I needed to anything the situation more comfortable. Dr. Hsu is an excellent dentist. He helped me out during a dental emergency (wisdom teeth began acting up very suddenly -- he helped me find a good dental surgeon nearby who took great care of me) on very little notice. As my regular dentist (until I moved to California), he really put a lot of care into ensuring I had the healthiest mouth possible. He basically re-taught me to brush my teeth, and the results were clear. Dr. Hsu has really educated me on oral health--helping me understand my mouth and what I need to do to maintain healthy teeth for life. He has changed my perspective on oral care! He really cares and gave me a plan and even came in on his day off once when I had a consult with an orthodontist to make sure that we both were clear on the plan to move forward. He is always prompt and I am often able to come in before work --minimizing lost productivity. His assistant, Merry, taught me how to floss so well I will probably never get a cavity again. He helps you come up with an oral care plan--he doesn't just care about your teeth on the day they're cleaned, but is always available to discuss concerns. You do have to plan a little in advance for cleanings, but it's worth it--he gives you way more time as an individual and a personalized plan. I don't think I've ever had a dentist that has been as thorough or educational as Dr. Hsu. The amount time he spends going over and teaching you about your teeth is unmatched anywhere. I've only been through the initial exam and consult, but have already made changes and feel confident that my teeth are already getting better.
