My friends recommended Advanced Dentisty and I am so glad he did because my experience at this dentistry is amazing so far!! First of all, Katrina at front desk is amazing at scheduling and following up clients. Her email response is super quick! My first visit, Judy performed deep cleaning and she was so friendly and very good at communication. She made sure I feel comfortable and made sure she is not hurting me. My family (2 kids) have been going to this office for more than a year, at the last check up appointment Dr. Chen told us that my 13 y.o needed sealants. The office scheduled us for Saturday mid day, 2 weeks in advance, we planned all our weekend activities around the appointment just to learn out upon showing up that sealants were not in stock to perform the procedure. No call, no heads up. Also, the cleaning was done terribly with stains still all over my son's teeth. After I asked whether our regular hygienist could take care of it I was told by Dr. Chen that I should be looking for another office because they cannot help me (even thought over the phone they confirmed that they will take care if it). If you value your time and great customer service look for another place P.s. after seeing the office response: not only you made me as parent feel bad, you also totally ignored feelings of my teenager who was your patient for 2 years and at no time during these 2 years you admitted that your office is not the right place for us (or any patient). read more

It had been over 10 years since I went to the dentist. I cracked a tooth and decided after years of neglecting it to seek out dental care. This was a very daunting task given that I recently moved to the area which made it even more difficult. I took good care of my teeth for the most part (no fillings) so I felt fortunate that this was the only issue I needed to address. After my first consultation with Dr Chen and his staff, I actually learned what proper care really meant. What I thought was good hygiene was only a part of taking care of your teeth. I absolutely bought in to the treatment plan laid out by Dr Chen and felt confident that his recommendations were a necessity for the healthiest smile possible. Over the past couple of months, I have trusted Dr Chen and his staff with the plan they recommended. I've had periodontal cleaning of all teeth, a root canal and crown completed by Dr Chen. I will be back for regular check ups and some preventive care to make sure I maintain a healthy mouth and complete my plan. I feel very fortunate I found Dr Chen and sought out dental care in his practice. His office is state of the art and looks to be using the latest technology in dental equipment. Every member of his staff are very accommodating and welcoming. Your comfort is always a top priority during a procedure. It is obvious that Dr Chen has a great sense of pride in his practice and his staff are expected to uphold the standards he has set. Had my crown replaced this morning. My appointment was at 9am and I got home before 10 and I get to spend rest of the morning with my wife and son. Obviously the procedure was done smoothly and the dentist was fast and really good. Pros: Super good techniques. - Dr. Chen is better than my old dentist BY FAR! and my old dentist was in his 60's and been in practice a long time and Dr. Chen is faster and smoother and really saves my jaw from holding my mouth open. Thumbs up. Office and Equipment are all new and very kept. Caring Office / Doctor - My impression of Dr. Chen is that of a very respectful doctor. He discussed with me my current teeth and gum condition and told me what would be best for me and even gave me tips on what could be done and what I can do myself to help with my teeth and gums. It seems to me that they are really good in patient education and cares about oral health a lot. He's seen my teeth before when we took the crown impression last time, and looked into my mouth for me, and today too he looked at my teeth and again was really helpful because I just see that he cares. Office even have a educational video playing in the lobby. My previous dentist just puts me on the chair and never looks into my mouth other than the first initial exam that he charges me. Dr. Chen and his staff have taken very good care of me and my oral health. This team is very friendly, yet professional and well trained. The office is clean, high tech and Dr. Chen is very good at what he does. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea less than a year ago. After struggling to sleep with the C-PAP machine many nights in a row, Dr. Chen suggested me to try the another kind of dental appliance to treat sleep apnea condition that is available at his office. This little device has improved my sleep quality, energy and much more. I'm just very happy that I found a dental team out there that really looks out for my interest and my oral health as a whole and not just nitpicking which tooth needs to be filled or crowned next. I came here because I was looking for a place that offered fast braces and was open on the weekend. The staff here is very friendly and the office is neat and clean and well-equipped with the latest gadgets to make your appointment as comfortable possible. Dr. Chen, along with his staff, is knowledgeable and friendly and everytime I visit, I always feel welcome. The fast braces itself was a great experience. Dr. Chen explained the process to me and answered many questions I had and made sure to let me know what to realistically expect from them because they are more cosmetic than they are orthodontic. In a little over six months, I had the smile of my dreams! I was amazed considering how bad my teeth were. However, when the braces came off, one naughty tooth decided to break away from the retainer it was fixed to and I had to go back to get it fixed. This was not the fault of the technique, but rather, because that particular tooth had underwent the most dramatic repositioning. And besides, I have plenty of friends and siblings who got traditional braces whose teeth move back to their original positioning. And teeth like those do not like to move. Dr. Chen and I met and deliberated the best approach to fix it and he decided that the best plan was to be put in braces again for just a month to move the tooth back. And he gracoiusly offered to write-off the costs of the hardware and only charge me for his time. Second times the charm. I'm sitting here today enjoying the smile of my dreams again and this time, that naughty tooth has stayed put. I find myself smiling big at every opportunity I get and feel like a happier person. I never realized just how powerful a smile could be, for myself and for others. After my braces came off for good I had a stranger tell me that I have a beautiful smile. In my 31 years of living, no one has said that to me. Ever. I still can't believe how fast I was able obtain my brilliant smile . It only took less than a year as opposed to the three years it normally takes for the traditional braces. And because the brackets and wires were enamel colored, no one really noticed I had them on. Dr. Chen and his staff are amazing! I have always struggled with bad oral hygiene, and throughout my entire life, no dentist has advised me on how to improve my oral health until now. Dr. Chen always tells it like it is and does not sugarcoat things (pun intended!). I was glad to hear from Dr. Chen that I needed to improve my brushing and flossing habits to get rid of the plaque build-up in my teeth. I've been going to Dr. Chen's office for a few years now. They are professional and very convenient for my busy lifestyle. They fit me in on a Sat after I chipped my tooth, and scheduled me for cleaning on hours that suited my work routine. The automated txt reminders are also really useful since I sometimes lose the appointment on my calendar. My last few cleanings have been with Erika, and she has been great. Let's face it, it takes a special kind of person to look forward to a dentist visit :) But Erika has made it as pleasant as possible. She is professional, efficient, and very careful when working on the sensitive teeth, which I unfortunately have a lot of. My wife and I needed a new dentist after returning from overseas and found Dr. Chens office. At first all seemed good and well. The office was clean, appointments were punctual and the staff, including his wife Grace, were friendly. I don't give much leeway toward health care providers so after two (oops update that to three) strikes I consider them out. Strike one came about 3 years ago when Dr. Chen recommended I remove a rear molar after the filling had come out. Some 35 years ago I had my previous dentist do gold crowns on my rear molars and these crowns performed flawlessly. I had required a filling on the gum edge of that molar a few years back just below the gold line. That filling had lasted some 20 years before disintegrating. I asked Dr. Chen to just fill it again, but he was hesitant and advised just to remove the molar instead. Looking back I had the feeling that he might not have had much experience in gum line fillings, but I wasn't sure. So I agreed. Out came the molar and that's the last I ever saw of it. Every time I've ever had a tooth extracted before - and it's not that many - I would always be shown my tooth and asked it I wanted it. Not this time. It was gone. I know there is not that much gold that goes into a crown, still it was my tooth and at the price of gold these days I would have at least appreciated the offer to have him 'dispose' of the tooth or let me have it. Strike two came when my son's filling came out which had been done by Dr. Chen. I called Grace and she asked when he had the filling done. Since he is an adult I wasn't sure, but guessed it must have been the year before. She went off to check records and came back on the phone saying it was done over 2 years ago. I was almost like she caught me in a lie. She didn't offer to have Dr. Chen even look at it. It was like she didn't even want to deal with this. The conversation - and our patient status - ended at that point. I should think if my dentist work doesn't last that long they would at least try to deal with the issue. Looking back it just seemed everything was related to money over our (patients) real interests. Could not point a direct finger but the overall feeling was one of money, money, and more money. I know when we started with the practice it was fairly new and now that I look back it also seems that inexperience factored into the pulling of my molar, and the falling out of my son's filling. These are the reasons our family has changed practitioners. Update: You are claiming it has been over 5 years, yet this happened some just over 2 years after the filling was done. What is your time line for fillings falling out? Then, there was also Strike three: the crown that you did for my wife - which fell out in 1 year and she had to come back in to have re-set again. The office is in a very accessible/convenient location (just on the outskirts of downtown Bellevue) and it's meticulous, state of the art and beautifully designed. How many people wear braces in their forties? I knew it would be hard, but the first month of wearing the braces was even harder than I expected. Ceramic braces move teeth faster, less noticeable, but they are also rougher than the metal braces. It took me a month to figure out how to talk, smile, eat and clean without irritating my cheeks too much. Waterpik is a must. It's a good idea to have one at home and one at work. Home made smoothies with fruits and nuts helped a lot too. My lower teeth were very crowded and crooked. Dr. Chen did such a wonderful job that they look so beautiful now. I had no idea how he did it without removing one tooth. It was amazing. The staff are very warm, friendly and helpful. I'm very happy with their services. read more

The people are incredibly personable and take the time to remember who you are. I never feel pressured like I have at other dentists to buy, buy, buy. No fear tactics here, just good solid advice. Dr. Chen goes to great length to discuss and show the state of my teeth, outlines why I might need certain work done, and is very transparent and honest about everything. This also extends to the front office staff who will walk you through every single step of your bill and send it to you in whatever way you'd like. End to end, I have nothing but good things to say about ADN, its staff, and the quality of work I've received. If you live in Bellevue or come into the city often, you should absolutely consider making Dr. Chen your primary dentist. I would give this dentist no stars if I could--I am putting the 1 star so no one thinks I accidentally forgot to rate. After moving here recently, I checked the reviews for several dental offices in the area, and after reading the positive reviews for Dr. Chen, I made a cleaning appointment. To give you a background, I have dental insurance, take care of my teeth, and have had many cleanings, as well as other dental work over the years. The pros:The appointment was easy to set up, and the dental office was easy to get to and seemed to be pretty clean. The Cons: After the dental tech took me in the exam room, she said the Dr. would be in shortly. A little bit later, Dr. Chen walked in, briefly looked in my mouth, and proceeded to tell me I needed a "special cleaning' that would cost some $1,000. I was shocked, didn't know what to say, so I reminded him that my last cleaning at my last dentist's office was only 6 months ago. He shrugged his shoulders, made a couple comments insinuating my last dentist didn't know what he was doing, and told me he was going to have me watch 3 movies, and he would see me at my next appointment and left. The dental tech brushed my teeth and left me in the room where I was supposed to be watching a video about the $1000 cleaning, as well as how to brush my teeth and get this: HOW TO FLOSS!--I am 40 years old, not only do I know how to brush and floss my teeth, but I also know when a 20 some year old 'dentist' is trying to rip me off for a 'special cleaning'! Needless to say, I found another dentist, had my cleaning done with no problems-duh! And will share my experience with this dentist for a long time. --to add insult to injury, about a month after my bazaar NON-CLEANING at this dentist, I received my benefit letter from my insurance company, which showed he charged my insurance for a cleaning, as well as an additional exam fee! Fail, fail, fail...He is by far the worst dentist I have ever dealt with, and surely the ONLY one that charged me a cleaning fee when no cleaning took place. read more

I would not recommend this office. First of all, the hygienist was quite unprofessional and annoyingly chatty about her military boyfriend. Next, Dr. Chen also told me I needed a deep cleaning despite regular 6 month cleanings (see review below). Finally, he prescribed a mouth guard for me that was a special type that fits between the front teeth only. His office failed to get pre authorization from the insurance company (if they would have, they would have learned that my policy paid for a typical mouthguard within 2 years and would not cover another one). My impression was that they looked for every way to generate revenue from me and/or my insurance company. Look elsewhere in my opinion. read more
