I hate to give any restaurant a low rating, but I was really disappointed during my visit. I stopped through on the way home because I hadn't eaten there in years. When I got there, (around rush hour) I wasn't sure if it was still in business because there were no cars in the parking lot and the outside of the building appeared a little faded in color (possibly from the bright sun, so they got the benefit of the doubt). I parked and looked at the windows, noticing that there weren't any advertisements. It honestly looked vacated. Mind you, I'm trying to be fair in my opinion here. I walked in and didn't see anyone in the dining area, OR behind the counter. The menu looked much smaller than the one I remembered in Florida (granted, that was back in the 80s). I didn't hear any activity and leaned on the counter to see if I could spot anyone. I didn't want to yell out, but I was praying that they weren't in the back, being robbed. lol I started hearing voices, so I figured I'd wait to see just how long it would take before someone came around the corner. That's when I saw part of a moving uniform in the corner of my eye, left of the drive-through window. I knew they had to know I was there, but I kept quiet. All-in-all, it took a good 5 minutes before someone came around and asked if they could take my order. I lost my urge to dine in and ordered my Philly Melt and Vanilla Shake to go. I didn't open the sandwich until I got out into the parking lot. I'm sorry, the shake wasn't all that exciting, as it tasted kind of bland. The Philly Melt was a HUGE disappointment. The MELT was missing!! They forgot the Swiss cheese! How do you forget something like that? I wanted to get on the road, so I kept the sandwich and ate it during my drive. The sandwich didn't taste like much either, and not because of the missing ingredient. The actual service wasn't bad, so I'm not angry with the attendant. I'm just not happy about the time it took for someone to come around and the taste of my food. I can forgive content inaccuracies, but when the food taste is suffering, the whole ordeal is a suffering experience. I'd go back and give the place a chance at redemption, but since I don't visit Lancaster often I think I'll dedicate future visits to new places and new adventures. read more

My wife and I were talking about Rax the other day, and I mentioned that there was still a location in Circleville. She was shocked to know they still existed, so I figured we would take a day and go and get some. Well, when I put them into my GPS, I noticed that there is a location even closer than the Circleville location, and that's the Lancaster location. So we headed there, and there it was. Looking exactly as I remembered as a child. We pulled up, hoping that the dining room was open, and it was. When we entered, it was like time traveling. Everything looked like it was from the 90s or even 80s. It was so cool. I tried to snap pictures without looking too silly. They are a bit pricey, but hey, you can't put a price on nostaglia. I got the Rax King and twisty fries, and it was around 10 bucks. They have Mello Yello on tap, which is so cool. The staff was friendly, and the service was pretty quick. My go to meal is the King Rax and Twisty Fries. Still the same taste as I enjoyed 35 years ago! Covid is not stopping me from enjoying it now. We drive thru, park in the lot, and empty the bag. Don't know yet we are still waiting in the drive thru line. We came down for a nice autumn hike from our 50 more Ohio hikes book. We haven't used our entertainment book very often so we decided to get some use out of it. We love Rax but the one we usually stop at on 23 south is not valid for the coupon in the Entertainment Book. So we decided to stop here since we are in Lancaster. I can say this for sure every rocks that we've stopped at is very slow in getting your food even in the drive thru line. This location is the slowest one but considering it is only one of two in the area...Columbus area. We personally like the one in Circleville better, but I do love a Rax BBC better than Arby's. So will most likely be back, don't know when but we are always going somewhere and doing something. So it is likely that we will be back within the next year. read more

Rax Roast Beef is a little gem on Main Street in Lancaster, Ohio! I have never been disappointed ever. Fresh lettuce and tomato with a mountain of delicious roast beef on a fresh bun. I love coming to Rax for lunch! I haven't seen one of these since the 90s so when I started working in Lancaster, I knew i had to get lunch here and it is now one of my staples! Rax gets pretty busy but they are fast, efficient and friendly. Only knocked a star bc they sometimes forget the butter & sour cream for my baked potatoes. read more

Location is easy to find, staff was friendly and food was ready quickly. It's just what it advertises to be - we got a couple BBC's (bacon beef and cheese) with twisty fries and a side of dipping cheese sauce. This was my first time here - were passing through. "I see you have a couple twisty fries left, would you like the rest of my cheese sauce?" Said no one EVER. That stuff is pure gold and I would get it instead of Mr. Pibb if it wasn't so expensive. (It takes at least 20 of those little cups to fill a small soda cup and at .55 cents a cup, well, you do the math. The sandwiches? Fantastic! I think they have other stuff on the menu but i always just order the sandwiches. I normally eat a few there while my twisty fries are still hot and then get a sack to go for the family. A sack of rax will keep in the fridge for over a week. I'm lucky to get 3 days out of any other fast food sandwich so for my family this is a no brainer as I only have the time to get there on Tuesdays and every other Friday. The bathrooms are also pretty solid. Somewhere between a speedway and a bob Evans but not quite as nice as a Starbucks. I change my baby in there all the time and never once felt like it was too dirty. There is a reason why this rax is still around.. They just "get it". 5 stars for the nostalgia factor! Food is not quite what it was in the 80's, but gosh-darnit this was real close. BBC, Twisty Fries, and a chocolate-chip shake. Will definitely return and buy extra BBC's. Happy Rax still exists! read more

I many times drive 70 miles round trip for the King Rax combo , but the last time only drive thru open and when i got the order i was really disapointed. The king rax was made by someone who has never made one before , or so it seemed. It was all humped up in the middle and was not in the least bit warm. The french fries tasted as if they had been sitting out for hours. They were stone cold. Anybody that makes fries way ahead of time and lets them sit for who knows how long just doesnt care anything about the customer service. One of the only two close to us since all the rest have closed in Columbus. Just went to get the famous BBC with that one of a kind cheese sauce. Not as fresh and good as I remember but it satisfied my craving. We did get a chuckle about the "endless salad bar" posted on the menu but no salad bar in the dining room so I have no idea how that works. Place is very run down and close to falling apart but so is Circleville location. We didn't expect much so no reason to be disappointed but man I do miss the good ole days of Rax! read more

Went here because we had cautions coupons and I hadn't been to a Rax in over 20 years. My conclusion.... Don't waste your time. The dining room was dirty, and there was a hair on one of my son's french fries. Its too bad because otherwise the food was good. read more

Why do I do this to myself! The only reason not to give one star, is that I was actually surprised the roast beef has taste. And that I'm shocked it is still open. I am the only person here on a Sunday afternoon. They pack ice in the cups so much that there is no room for even the straw!... and the coke Zero has no taste. read more

Waited at least 2 minutes at the counter for the girl to even come and take my order (I was the only customer) and she acted like I was bothering her by being there. The manager fought with her about making a sandwich I ordered (I ordered 2. He gave one to the people at the drive thru who showed up after I did.) Then she almost gave me stale fries. (She hesitated a few seconds before making new.) I was at the counter waiting for 10 minutes. If there was another location in Lancaster I would've left. Haven't been this disappointed in a Rax since they closed the one in Athens about 15 years ago. Visit this Rax anytime I'm in the Lancaster area - did so again today for lunch. I ALWAYS get the BBC 'cause there's no one else that comes close to that fantastic cheese sauce. And I always get a side cup of the BBC sauce to dip the fries in. When I got the order (had to get it to go), I checked and the sauce was very runny (like oily, watery, almost lumpy) and I asked if they had given me a different sauce, but the manager assured me it was BBC sauce. I took the order to the car and got the fries out, opened the cup and dipped. To my dismay, it ran right off the fry! Opened the sandwich and what was there looked like the same BBC sauce I always got - smooth, creamy and sticking to the beef and bacon. Whatever was in the cup didn't come from the same bin as what was on the sandwich! I took the cup back in and told them I didn't want it 'cause it wasn't the same stuff. They said they were sorry but it was. (Had I noticed the cup of stuff was $.65 extra, I'd have insisted on a refund - my bad!) Will need to check it out next time BEFORE I walk away from the counter - if it's the same way next time, it will be the last time. Other than that, the sandwich was fantastic (as usual) and the fries were o.k. (nothing out of the ordinary without the BBC sauce). read more

I visited the Rax on Main Street in Lancaster on Saturday, 11-7-15. Rax is one of my favorite fast food chains. I live in Columbus, so I don't visit very often. Anyway, found myself in the area and stopped in with my friend and our 2 kids. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I have no complaints about service. I do have a complaint about the quality and serving sizes. The roast beef sandwich was a laughable sliver of roast beef on two dry buns. The chicken wing kids meal was definitely not what I expected. While it appeared that it was whole chicken, it was quite small, overly salty and very sad looking. My 6 year old girl wouldn't touch it because it didn't look enough like chicken to convince her to eat it. I had the turkey bacon club which was actually quite good and a nice size. The fries were generous portions but were soggy, lukewarm and served with obviously watered down cheese sauce. The drink prices were very high as well. Overall. close to $25 spent on a snack for 4 people. I enjoy Rax, but it's not what it used to be. read more

NASTY!!!! This one word sums up this store. Using the word restaurant, is the wrong word for this place. The management was non-existent. The "youths" who were there, were more interested in talking about how and what they did to a co-worker's food. OMG!!!! What disgusting folks. The floors were sticky where they were not greasy. The dining room was a disaster. I would of complained, but who to? I will never go back. I will try Arby's. But never again Rax. read more
