I grew up coming to rate field when it was called Comiskey Park. I have always loved it. I recently went in during the Star Wars day. It was amazing! I loved the energy. Caught the home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays and what a game. The Sox won and a few bombs were hit which got the crowd excited. Tried a hot dog and it was fantastic. I really enjoyed my experience! My Detroit Tigers were visiting so I had to come watch. I was overjoyed with how easy it is to get to the stadium on red line. I got off at the 35th-Sox stop and the stadium is right there. I found the stadium to be very well organized. I never had to wait in any lines. I got into the stadium easily and thru security (I brought my clear bag). Plenty of clean restrooms. Really nice variety of food options at the kiosks. Lots of vendors passing through the stands with snacks and drinks too. Every staff member I encountered was very kind and helpful. Really good vibes all around! I loved my seat along the first base line. It was so fun when fireworks went off for home runs. Fun games and things on the jumbo screen in between innings. Affordable ticket prices and lots of fun! First time visiting this stadium and I definitely would say I loved it ! Great layout and overall good experience. Would love to visit many other locations and experience the fields In all different states. I think the part that stood out to me is how quick they get things rolling for alcohol, food and desserts. We were lucky enough to win the ticket lottery to see the Savannah Bananas and what a crazy experience! You enter a ticket lottery and the Bananas advise you if you won. They choose your ticket price which ranges from $40-60.00 with no svc fees. Seats are assigned for you and we were lucky to get seats in the right field bleachers. Since is was a sellout,we prepaid parking for $31.00 in lot C or E. Very convenient thru ParkWiz. Entering the stadium was super easy and Rate Field offers an array of food options . Wide aisles and plenty of bathrooms made it an enjoyable experience. As long as you don't mind the Chicago traffic getting to Rate Field,you will have a good time! read more

Completed all the letter A businesses in the alphabet series I was working on including American Family Field in Milwaukee. See my 5-star review of them from yesterday, October 1. I decided to include Guaranteed Rate Field (now just Rate Field) and Wrigley Field from my Chicago/Wisconsin trip. In September 2021, we saw the White Sox here on Wednesday, 9/1/21, then the Cubs on Thursday, 9/2, & Brewers on Friday, 9/3. We ate on South State Street before boarding a red line train to Guaranteed Rate Field. Trains were crowded with many people getting on & off the train at Sox-35th, and Rate Field is right by the train station, which is convenient. What's not convenient is that the area right around there is simply parking lots and the ballpark. There's no restaurants or bars right by the ballpark, which is unfortunate. But I think planned that way so people have to buy food & drink at the ballpark. The ballpark itself was very nice. I liked seeing Carlos Rodon (one of my pitchers in Fantasy baseball) get the Win with the White Sox winning that game in general. Unfortunately, he's a stinkin' Yankee now. Seating was high up with a good view of the whole stadium. I also liked whenever White Sox got a Run, there were these primary color lights that spin around above the scoreboard. read more

As a true born and raised southsider, my heart and stomach belongs to White Sox Park, a.k.a. Rate Field. The huge spacious and clean baseball park has an enormous menu of mouthwatering hot and cold food, hot and cold drinks, you name it! I'm always tempted to try some of their fantastic new offerings like the loaded mac & cheese, dipped Bueno beef sandwiches, etc., but I can never turn down a hot, premium hot dog with tasty grilled onions in a fresh bun. I have even elevated myself to add mustard to my usual ketchup. Please don't judge me lol A girl's dream come true: plenty of bathroom stalls and many well spaced out facilities. From ticket sellers to security and greeting personnel, southside hospitality is at its peak. Practically every seat in the stadium has a great view of all four corners and the immense colorful scoreboard fires up delightful fireworks on Friday home games and every Sox home run. This was my 22nd active MLB stadium. Rate Field definitely has the most consistent best stadium food - there wasn't a bad item we tried and we tried a lot of things. The comiskey dog, polish dog, Italian beef, Cuban, stadium fries, campfire shake, garretts popcorn. Lots of different hidden gems to see at the stadium; the old comiskey home plate, Chicago and southside signs, comiskey shower, statues in outfield, had already put up a Pope artwork. Didn't think much of the Leinenkugel Lodge - lacked any atmosphere and the bartender sprinkled tajin on my modelo. Got stuck using the ramps mostly going up/down between levels, I believe the escalators are only in the centre. Riding the red line in and out was easy, no safety concerns. Get yourself a first time certificate, they are pretty nice and a button. White Sox fans were nice to visiting fans. The firework show on Friday was really good as well, I got to be present for one of Nancy the organist's only 6 appearances this season as well. Weather in late May was chilly in the shade, so bring layers. read more

On our tour of all of the ballparks, we landed at Rate Field on a hot and humid Chicago day. As such, I bought club level tickets for AC access. I'm a weather wimp. We got there early to do a walk outside and check out the cool statues as a nod to former players-shout out to the amazing Frank Thomas! The home run plate and walkway homage to the old Comiskey Park were cool. I enjoyed seeing the past joining with the present. A full walkthrough of the park showed some good food offerings and beverage offerings from all different types of food. I had to grab a Comiskey Dog and it was yummy. I will now be adding celery salt to all my hot dogs! Club Level seats offer a nice air conditioned lounge and only five rows per section, nice and cozy with in-seat wait service which was attentive and fast. I keep thinking about the strawberry cream nachos. They are not to be missed. The best part of the day was our SF Giants winning but getting to see this beat ballpark was also a win. Thanks to all the fans and staff that made us out of towners feel welcome in the ballpark! read more

Get here early at least 90 minutes before the game it's no joke. It's so unorganized of where to park and they do close some small roads. I definitely recommend the CTA train instead of driving. It would've been waaaay easier. Bought tickets for the July 25 Sox vs Cubs which they shockingly won 12-5 woot! Sec 535 Row 14 was perfect and had an overhang for shade in case of rain and sun. The food offerings in section 500 was hot dogs, nachos, and drinks. I recommend to get nachos and add extra cheese with free jalapeños it was sooo good. Go Sox! read more

This was my second visit to Rate Field, first since 2004. I was a White Sox fan as a kid and don't mind the park. Access from downtown is super easy as the park has its own L stop. There isn't a lot around the park. I did get a sandwich about a mile away and did walk there (area didn't look too bad). Workers are extremely friendly. I was here on a Tuesday night which has heavily discounted beer and food options. Even with the discount night there were 11,000 fans present. I was able to walk up and purchase a ticket for $28.00 a few rows off the field (down the 3rd baseline). Seat was positioned awkwardly. If I was in Chicago and the Sox were playing, I would definitely go to a game. It is significantly different than the Wrigley experience but not a bad day at the park. read more

While I'm usually rooting for the other side, I can't deny the solid food game here. Stadium 23/30. I was in Chicago to catch a White Sox Game. Took the green line train down here to avoid parking costs. Drops you off about 3 blocks away. I actually really liked the stadium. Some of the reviews I had read, made it sound horrible. It was not! There were good sight lines from pretty much everywhere. Cool statues in the outfield of some White Sox Greats (Fisk, Baines, Thomas etc). Friendly fans and very reasonably priced tickets (White Sox stink, so the cheap tickets are expected lol). The White Sox were celebrating their 125th Year in baseball. It was also Dick Allen 1972 MVP Bobble Head day. Cool souvenir, and they even were passing out the little cigarette for the bobble head at tables around the concourse, all while telling the story about the Sports Illustrated Cover of Dick Allen with the cigarette. Had a great time at the game and will definitely see another one here if/when I go back to Chicago. read more

This was my first time watching a baseball game and while the white Sox didn't win, I still had fun! Tons of vendors from food to drinks to dessert. I definitely enjoyed the sundae in the souvenir cup, so adorable. The only downside after the game was that the elevators get shut down so you have to walk all the way down! read more

We had a great time at the rate field for the Sox vs yankees game! Great seats are easy to get and on the affordable side (thanks to the sox current poor record). The mascot interacted with my cousins kid and an umpire even threw him a ball! Security wasn't overbearing and staff was helpful in finding our section. While the White Sox may not be the best team to watch in baseball, they have a nice field! It's great to go on Tuesday nights when they have $5 beer and food. The field is kept up nicely, and due to low demand, ticket prices to attend games are very low. Lines for food, drinks, etc. are really short too, making it more enjoyable than other fields for casual baseball watchers. read more

Compared to other stadiums I've gone to, the rate field was mid. The game was pretty empty playing Arizona, so they closed the upper levels and moved everyone to the 100s. The energy from the crowd wasn't fully there compared to the previous Brewers game I went to the night before. They do offer some solid food options, though! read more

Had a great time with mother on Juneteenth. Happy to spend quality time with mom but sad the white Sox couldn't pull it off. The seats were great. I recommend that review their website before coming. It tells you what you can or can't bring therefore save you a lot of hassle and headaches. Download the park whiz app. They only accept credit or debit no cash. "It's not as bad as some say" may be faint praise but there are many things to like about Rate Field. Overall though, it lacks character and in our particular experience left us feeling (figuratively and literally) cold. Background Sat in lower deck first-base side for a weeknight mid-May game between the White Sox and Mariners. Weather better suited football, game time temperature was 47° with cloudy skies and gusty winds. Pale Sox lost 5-1. Stadium Let's start with the positives, and there really are several. Transportation to and from the stadium is efficient with easy access to the train, well-organized parking and a dedicated Uber lot. The concourses are very wide which provides for lots of good shopping and concession options. The Team Store is by far the largest I've visited in a park. Plenty of aisles make it easy to access seats. And, there are multiple large scoreboards, including a "spinning light" and firework display in centerfield which goes off when or if a White Sox player hits a home run. But,that outfield view. The worst of any outdoor stadium I've visited. Who ever thought erecting black scaffolding, excuse me, lattice work, across the exterior of the stadium outfield was a good idea? I know, why don't we just cover it up with a bunch of advertising? Seriously, one seemingly easy improvement would be to remove this lattice from a couple sections and provide an open view of the city skyline (albeit a rather distant one from this stadium's locale). There weren't many people at the game. a likely result of both the weather and the team's recent performance, and this significantly detracted from the viewing experience. Stated attendance was 10,380 - BWAHAHA! There were, maybe, half that number in the park. The only section even partially filled was behind first base where a majority of Mariner fans sat. Food A major positive. My hot dog was delicious. And there are numerous unique dining options, from Italian Beef sandwiches (c'mon, you've seen The Bear), to Korean, to Ramen, to street corn. What's Unusual Yes, this was the first of the new baseball stadiums built, opening in 1991 before Camden Yards started the retro park trend, But did you know that the new Comiskey could also have built a retro field? Such a design was offered by a local architect firm but was rejected in favor of a modern look. Baltimore's park opened just a year later and quickly became iconic. Summary Meh. In a comparison against other major league stadiums the positives fail to overcome the overall bland view and feel one gets watching a game here. read more

First experience attending a game at this stadium. Was pretty stoked that they were playing against my LA Dodgers during #SHRM24 conference week. Stadium was pretty easy enough to get with ride share. Lines to the game went by like a breeze on this day. The concessions were not as packed and we had enough time to get our orders and take our seats. Section 526, row 1, provided a good view of the field. Although, it didn't provide shade from the rainfall we had during the top of the 7th inning. I'm sure there are better places in Chi town to have an original Chicago dog but I thought, what's more American than having a comiskey dog during a baseball game. Theirs was pretty well prepared...not messy. The sausage had a good sear on the all beef Vienna sausage. The mustard, pickles, and onions were just the right amount for the regular size dog. So picking it up with the poppyseed bun kept it well together. The tomato slices were also fresh, and the pepper had a good tang. They also offer this in a footlong version. Regular was $8.99 I believe, and 12-in was $12.99. Dodgers won the game with a shutout at 3-0. Although disappointed we didn't have any home runs during the game, we were treated to a lightning show during the rainfall intermission. Overall, it was a great experience! read more

From the gates and yes, that is plural, it was a shit show. You might not experience this if you buy your seats directly from the venue but myself and others utilized seatgeek. My issue is that the workers at the first two gates did not tell me that I needed to exchange my seatgeek QR code for something they could scan. Instead they simply sent me to a different gate to go through the same security experience to be told to go to a different gate. I was finally told to go wait in ticket window line after going through security again at the third gate! I exited out to go to the ticket window which took forever because they were slow with only two windows open. I missed the first two innings of the game because of this and definitely wasn't the only one pissed off in the line! I had really good seats so the view was awesome. I went on the worst night because my Astros lost but it was Tuesday so the stadium was running a Tuesday night special. $5 select drinks and food. The normal prices were ridiculous, I saw seven dollars for a 20 ounce soda! My God! I did eventually order some nachos, which tasted watered down, but for five dollars at stadium I won't complain. read more

Seeing the Savanna Bananas here was a hoot. It is such a fun experience. Being a diehard Cubs fan I don't go to Rate Field but you gotta give credit where credit is due. Rate Field is a very good venue. The food is very good and reasonably priced. We pre-paid parking and it was just a short walk from the entrance gate. Restrooms are clean and well stocked. Ushers were helpful and polite. Sound is a little rough and echoed but all in all a solid venue for baseball. read more

First off, parking was easy and affordable, which is a huge plus. The stadium itself is big, clean, and offers tons of food options-way more variety than I expected! The staff was super friendly, and even with a big crowd (though not completely packed), everything felt organized. We paid $30 for nosebleed seats on opening day,which I thought was a fair price. The atmosphere was lively, and the sightlines were still good from up high. Overall, it's a great ballpark with a good vibe, and I'll MAYBE come back if invited again. This was the second park we visited in our tour of all the baseball stadiums. I liked that they had a pencil and scorecard available to use at guest services. Good food, memorabilia, and libations available throughout the park. I had a very nice chat with a beer tender who was also a teacher. We talked education and the deliciousness of craft beer. Overall, very friendly and welcoming. The public transportation is just a few minutes walk from the stadium making it easy to exit the stadium and get back to wherever you need to get. read more

Five stars for Guaranteed Rate Field - home of the Chicago White Sox. Maybe I'm a bit biased because the White Sox are my baseball team, but I think this is one of my favorite baseball fields to watch a game at. The tickets are always pretty cheap (probably because the on field product hasn't been competitive for years), there's a big variety of food and drink options as well. Very easy to navigate the stadium - the parking spaces are very tight squeezes so keep that in mind if you use their parking lot. My recommendation is go on a Tuesday in the summer for their special pricing on food and drinks - I believe it's $5 beers and milkshakes and lower prices on Nachos & Hot Dogs. read more

Firmly in the lower end of active ballparks, a level of quality the team itself can only strive for! The last stadium to be built before Camden yards brought in the modern era of fan friendly stadiums that bring unique charm. It very much feels like it's approaching the end of its useful life. We sat 2 rows from the field in section 149, expecting the view to be really good and feel comfortable, splurging a bit for nicer seats than usual. The seat orientation is angled in such a way that you have to lean forward and sit at a near 90 degree angle to see home plate. The seats were much harder than comparable sections at other stadiums and were narrow enough that you'd think you were at spirit airlines stadium. We ended up moving to the bleachers as it had a better view and some amount of legroom For a stadium with a reputation for some of the best food in baseball I came away a bit underwhelmed. There are some creative options, but the proportion of basic ballpark food is higher than I would've expected when comparing it to other stadiums that don't have the same reputation. With that said all the food we had was quite good, a baptized Italian beef sandwich and rainbow ice cream both really hit the spot It's a tough comparison location wise with wrigley, but I think the bad reputation is overblown. Very quick and easy to get to via the redline from the city center and heading by car was shockingly fast We ended up spending a lot of time on the center field concourse which had some nice views and a lot of space for potential additions to the stadium. Overall it's a baseball game and I saw my Yankees win so I had a good time, but if you're not a baseball nut this stadium is pretty skippable read more

The star of the night is the food at the stadium. Definitely one of the best ball parks I've been to for variety of food. Pizza, burgers, Elotes, Hot dogs, Sausages, Cheese Steaks. I had a cheesesteak. Steak was seasoned well, tender, juicy. A nice, fresh roll, with peppers, onions, and a mozzarella sauce. A 7 on a scale of 1-10, worth it. Recently attended my first White Sox Game and I enjoyed their stadium. First of all I love that their parking lots are close and affordable. For a Sunday game parking in one of their close lots was only $20 I was pleasantly surprised. We had our tickets on the MLB app and getting through security was easy. Not a lot of people at the game so that may have been the reason. It was also a promotional Sunday so they were giving away free shirts. Who doesn't love free swag? As for the inside very easy to find your seats. Love that the rows aren't long across so you don't have to go past lots of people to get out. Bathrooms are clean and lines move quickly. I love the fact they have a variety of places to eat on the inside. Yes it's expensive (ballpark prices) but the quality is good. read more
