The United Center is one of my favorite places to watch concerts. They do a great job with sight lines, stage set ups and just great viewing. Recently saw Rush and was very impressed with my views both on the floor and 300 level. Other positive features - the AMEX entrance for me in with no lines and love that I get a discount at all the concession stands. Food options are decent and of good variety. Always pricy but what arena isn't these days.

NCAA Men's Basketball Midwest Regionals 2026

My friend and I recently traveled to Chicago to attend the NCAA Men's Basketball Midwest Regional Semi-Finals & Finals (also known as the March Madness Sweet 16 & Elite 8). Every year, we choose a random venue and city to attend, and for our first time in years of this tradition, we decided to check out the United Center and Chicago. We went on a Friday to see two Sweet 16 basketball games (Michigan vs. Alabama and Iowa State vs. Tennessee) and then returned again on a Sunday to see the Elite 8 basketball game (Michigan vs. Tennessee) with the winner heading to Indiana for the Final Four. The games were electric, the United Center was a welcoming site, and it was easy to travel to and from (in general). We thought it was strange upon our arrival that the bag policy didn't allow clear bags that were a tad too big but it did allow unclear bags if small enough. We wish the American Express Lounge was open during our visit but I guess that is only during regular sporting events. The Uber Zone was also a bit complicated to figure out, but we eventually did. All in all, the entertainment in the concourses including great photo opportunities, the many food locations, and great merchandise locations. The United Center is an indoor arena on the Near West Side of Chicago and is home to the Bulls (NBA) and Blackhawks (NHL). Clearly, United Airlines is the corporate sponsor. It holds 23,500 people. There are 27 unique concessions restaurants located in the United Center including barbecue, chicken, pizza, Mexican, and other options. There are specific locations available for gluten-free and vegetarian food options, too. Some of the highlighted restaurants include Rocky's Bar, Queenie's Supper Club, FanDuel Lounge, Pepsi Grab N Go (and The Dashery & 4-Star Markets), and member's only dining like Chicago Stadium Club on the Lexus Club Level and Ketel One Club. For a special event, this location was great for the NCAA basketball tournament! I would certainly consider coming back to the United Center again in the future.

I haven't been to the United Center in years, but it holds very fond memories for me. Lots of fun concerts, basketball games (go Bulls!), and hockey games (go Blackhawks!). The venue is easy to navigate and has plenty of parking at a cheaper rate than most stadiums. I took my guy to his first major league hockey game and we had a blast! It was very memorable and such a perfect way to end his first day in Chicago. I also couldn't believe my luck at finding an amazing Blackhawks leather jacket that was on sale!! Seriously couldn't believe my luck! Drinks and food are on par with other stadiums as far as price, quality, and options go. One of the cleaner stadiums I've been to as well.

Fun sports venue! Easy to get to via multiple train lines. It feels like a place where every seat is a good seat. I loved watching hockey here this weekend when my Detroit Red Wings were in town. Cool pregame and intermission activities. Excellent variety of delicious food throughout the place. Plenty of clean restrooms. I look forward to next time.

I believe this is my fourth time in the Windy City, and it gets better with every visit!! The first time was when I was in grade school, and I got to watch MJ & the Bulls live at the United Center. Doesn't get better than that, man. Didn't get a chance to catch a game this time, but I still had to go check out the arena! Funny, 'cause I just realized that the arena is the United Center - and I've recently switched to United Airlines because of the flight routes. I didn't even know the arena was owned by them or that their headquarters are now in Chicago. Wait - is the Obama Presidential Library completed? Can't believe I missed it on this visit... oops. There's always next time! And kids, have you ever dreamed of being POTUS?! Well, if you work very, very hard, set the right goals, and find the right mentors, anything is possible!!! Don't ever give up.

Updated review on attending a Blackhawks game. Expect to spend money! Parking is either $40 or $50..big increase from last year. Doors open 90 minutes prior to the game but you can enter The Atrium area earlier that has various bars and a huge gift shop. There is normally pre-game entertainment as well Lots of food options but very few Gluten Free options. We were in the 300 level and we only found 1 food vendor offering gluten free items but they ran out of food at the end of the 1st period???? Bathrooms are nice but my wife said no hot water in the ladies bathroom. Expect to pay above average drink prices..they had a Centennial Old Fashion in Rockys Bar that cost 55.00! Sight lines are good as well as the sound so if you want to see a professional sporting event or concert, the UC is still the place to go.

First time here for a Blackhawks vs Utah Mammoth hockey game. My son scored some seat geek tickets that were pretty good in section 120 row 6, lower level. YOLO. I did buy a souvenir Blackhawks soda cup. The bathrooms were nearby. The tickets were on my son's phone and we left together so we could enter our section again. Period breaks were 18 minutes long and was able to make it back in time. Blackhawks won..At the beginning of the game they had a tribute to Indiginous tribes as some may take offense. The mascot is a black bird named Tommy Hawk. The Blackhawks won in overtime. Very organized Uber drop off and pickup area. Police also block street. It was a great experience with my son.

This place is huge and really nice! My team and I booked an I-Suite, and it was an amazing experience. There's a separate entrance with elevators and extra security. Has a guard in each elevator. The suite area has around 26-30 rooms with a dining area, bar, and seats. Each seat had a Bulls t-shirt, which was a cool surprise. There are tables for watching the game and a few more seats in front of them. We watched the Detroit Pistons vs. Bulls game, and it was so much fun! They also have a dessert cart that comes to every suite. Security is very good, and there's a separate for Uber pickups. You should definitely watch a game here!

What a great freaking arena. I live in Los Angeles where we have Staples Center...I mean Crypto. It's very similar to the United Center in the fact it's really big and has a ton of basketball banners. What Los Angeles got wrong, Chicago got right. The food here is way better and the lines are far shorter. But what blew me away was the sound. I saw three concerts by the band Phish and the acoustics inside this huge room are incredible for a huge room. Staff are friendly, really the only bummer is the lack of cup holders in the seats. I hope to return here one day for more rock and roll fun (or maybe a game) to

We attended the benson Boone tour. We arrived at 4pm to park, and waited in line until 6:30pm when the doors opened. They were a little later than they said but it seemed organized. The concert started on time, and because we had vip tickets on the floor, we did notice the audience wasn't all in when it started. So it seems they weren't completely ready for them either. But the process to get in and get seated was easy enough.

We didn't get food, but this is an awesome venue for the intended audience size. We saw the Blackhawks beat up on the Rangers. The staff for concessions got us our beers pretty quickly. The restrooms are clean and well tended to. All in all, a great experience.

Funny stuffed animal. Hockey player Chicago dog! I had to buy it!
    Rhett R.

First time in Chicago and first time at a hockey game. It was a great experience. Coming from California and knowing that going to a sporting event or other event at a big venue is cause for frustration. Parking is always bad, traffic in and out is horrible then on top of the inefficiency on entering the venue. Huge headache. BUT the united center has their stuff in order. It was the easiest venue to get to. If I lived in Chicago I would go to anything there. It just seems so efficient and not a hassle. Food was good too. Had a Chicago dog!

Ask the Community - United Center

My daughter and I are coming for a concert and don't know the area. Does anyone have a suggestion for a hotel near by?

Not a great area around the center. I have never felt unsafe but stay downtown and uber out

Do they offer food during concerts?

Concessions are open during concerts but keep in mind there isn't a lot of room between seating rows and it's dark during the concert. Last time I was her for a U2 concert a woman in my row spilled beer and ketchup on me as she worked here way back…

Do they allow umbrellas to be bought in?

HI Sue, It was no issue at all for me to bring my umbrella inside. In fact, It was raining the day we went last Tuesday and I didn't even give it a second thought. Nobody said anything to me about having it. I hope this helps.

Never been to The United Center, or Chicago. I will be traveling alone to see a concert on a Saturday in August. I am making a long trip and want the best seat possible. Does anyone know how the General Admission line works? Any advice?

Any popular concert at the United Center to get a decent seat you need to buy ahead of time. The walk up sales are generally not good, many shows are sold out, and you absolutely cannot trust ticket scalpers.

Are there any age restrictions as to who's allowed to enter the venue for a music concert?

No but they can't drink alcohol.

What happens to all the hats after a hat trick?

Generally they give the hats to charity. It is different at every stadium.

Well, tonight we did not get 100 level tickets so we couldn't even go on the concourse !!!!! WTF? This is my 24th baseball stadium and I've never heard of such stupidity--- I guess you don't want me to spend my money where you have better food choices than crappy $5 hot dogs ( although I got an $8 plus Vienna one.. and it sucked) From a 4 star to a two star review....Also, what if it was our first time at the stadium like two days prior, and we wanted to see all the statues, etc., and get a feel for the stadium but could not??? So, two games here and done . Too bad, great stadium and the BEST fans but GO CUBBIES Second time here in 2 days. The good: *easily accessible by rail *dedicated and diehard fans (one youngest kid, mid 20s? And obviously had been drinking, apparently bumped into my husband, unbeknownst to him, and tracked my husband down about five minutes later to apologize. I mean, who does that? Very impressive.) *beautiful stadium/ great scoreboards with pertinent stats *awesome organist *huge 2 story team store with lots of merch and several life size bobble heads *dedicated first time game booth with certificates and button ( thanks Allie!) * What appears to be a fantastic kid zone, but if you don't have kids under 12, you can't go in. Keeps out the pervs and I respect that * Very friendly and helpful security (Carl at the 100 level) /ushers/employees *lots of statues, history ( mostly on the 100 level) *several restrooms, kept clean with attendants right there *lots of food choices including perogies/ empanadas combos --couldn't get this either :( * Fun fan giveaways ( got my pope hat!) with fantastic lineup . Pregame band and continuous theming all day * the option to pay a fee to guarantee you will get a giveaway if you can't make it to the stadium early Cons: * so we were able to walk in with water bottles, but security at the gate took our plastic bag holding them ; for what purpose I don't know? Wanted to put our giveaways and dirty ice cream helmets in there. *the ice cream was terrible , and I rarely complain about ice cream * Not sure why you don't offer women's Jewelry such as FOCO, BaubleBar, etc. Missing a huge market. Same for Montana West and Dooney purses *once again security not letting fans onto the 100 level on pope night ( 8/11)

Drink prices here are through the roof (which is to be expected but still kinda annoying). I paid $36 for 2 cans of modelos. It was mainly an issue for people who had front row seats since people would sneak into your spot if you left to use the restroom, to the bar, etc.. they'd move out of your spot once you returned but it's still annoying to have to repetitively do that if you need to leave for a short period of time.
