I love this place! It's a really convenient place to go after class, meet up with a friend, or to satisfy a late night boba craving (which happens more often than not). At first I thought the Oreo milk tea was a weird concept but it ended up being one of my favorite things. The Oreos aren't chunky&pair well with the milk tea. It's surprisingly really good. Omfg the cocoa crema with ice cream is amazing. The cocoa crema already tastes like hot chocolate so when you add ice cream it's like a chocolate milkshake. It's so good! The flavors don't overwhelm each other, plus there's the salty foam at the top that accentuates the sweet flavor of the chocolate. Purple Kow has some competition. I don't really understand what's so good about this place, but for a boba desert like Berkeley, this place is amazing to everyone. What sticks out about this place is that you can choose percentages of sweetness and ice. However, remember that the less ice you put, the sweeter it's going to be. Always expect a line for this place (at least 10 minutes). The price for this is also roughly $4.50, quite expensive for milk tea. For me, I like to stick to 30% sugar because 50% sweet=Purple Kow regular sweetness. Matcha green tea with red bean (50%)- I really enjoyed this tea. Passion fruit, Orange, plum, and grapefruit (30%)- I don't think I'll ever get this tea again. It was so sweet that it was almost undrinkable, even after continuously adding water to it. After several attempts at diluting it, I gave up and threw it away. I don't think I tasted any tea, as the flavour and sweetness of the syrups overpowered it. Grapefruit Green Tea (30%)- Mehh. I've had better, but it is still better than the passion fruit, orange, plum and grapefruit tea. Oolong Milk Tea (30%)- This is my favourite tea here, probably because there is no way someone can mess up Oolong Milk Tea. With the Oolong tea, you can definitely taste the fresh tea that Sharetea offers, unlike its other sugary drinks. Boba- Not amazing, kind of bland. I've been a regular at Sharetea for the past 3.5 years (basically since I started school at Cal in 2014). When I had a severe addiction in 2015-2016, I bought the $125 for $100 giftcards and went there 2-3 times a week. Unfortunately, their golden days are over. Sharetea used to be my go-to, but now, I only stop by when I'm too lazy to trek over to UCha. The drinks are still quite good sometimes, but quality control is extremely poor, and the same drink can taste drastically different between any two days. One time, my friend and I both ordered an oreo milk tea 50% sugar, 50% ice, and although mine ended up tasting fine, he got a disgusting, lukewarm drink with no ice at all. Here are some drinks that have been generally consistent, even recently: Oolong milk tea - good oolong tea flavor; recommend to get at 50% or 80% sugar Wintermelon tea - make sure to get 0% sugar!! I believe that this drink is pre-mixed, so it is still very sweet at 0% Mango green tea - nice and refreshing! A dissatisfied customer with their drinks and their customer service! I will NEVER come back to this place again. I drink boba OFTEN, so it's hard for me to ever give a boba shop 1 star. We came here on a Saturday night around 6-7pm. When we first arrived, there was a girl with fishnet stockings, booty shorts and a crop top that went behind the counter to talk to her friend that was working at the register. We were standing at the counter looking at the menu and the worker didn't greet us because she was talking to her friend, gossiping! (UNPROFESSIONAL) Then, we began asking questions about certain tea's and she had both of her earphones in her ear and asked "what?" to us 3x because she never took them out of her ear until we said something about it. Once she was finally able to hear what we had to say, we would ask about suggestions and she pretty much gave us attitude and didn't help at all. (UNPROFESSIONAL) We ALWAYS order taro boba tea so we are pretty familiar with how it should taste. It was 5 of us that came here and every single one of us thought our tea was DISGUSTING. It tasted chalky and had a nasty aftertaste to it. So we went back inside to let them know we didn't like the way our drinks tasted and asked if we could swap it for something else and the cashier said NO! We spent $25 total and couldn't swap our drinks which was very disappointing. Sharetea is Sharetea, so the drinks here are good. But man, is the line ridiculous. It felt like a mad house here, with the line out the door every time I've been here/walked by. I suggest ordering in advance to skip the wait because I wore a huge smile on my face while I walked right in past the long line of patrons, picked up my drink and walked out. As far as boba goes, this is the best and most consistent spot in Berkeley. My all-time favorite is the Oreo Milk Tea with Boba. If you want to maximize flavor, make sure to get as less ice as possible. This tea is super sweet and I absolutely love the small chunks of oreo (almost tastes like a lighter milkshake). The boba is always fresh and chewy and blends well with any of their teams. I'm also a huge fan of several of their fruit teas with Crema (salted cream taste) and other fruit teas with lychee jelly which is sweet and able to balance out the bitterness of the fruit. Prices and quantities are pretty friendly, relative to other places in the area. If you are a huge boba fan, make sure to sign up for their FiveStars program (you get a free drink every 12 drinks you buy). Sharetea is definitely one of my favorite bubble tea places in Berkeley. Located conveniently on Bancroft next to UC Berkeley, this place is a great spot for students, visitors, and non-student adults like me. Sharetea started in Taiwan, and with a successful franchise in Malaysia, eventually made its way to the United States. Thank god it did because man do we need better and better bubble tea places here in California, so I do not have to get on a plane to Taiwan. TEA: I have only been here twice, but both times I have been the drink has been good. The consistency in the quality is much appreciated! I have gotten the regular milk tea with pearls as a baseline to compare among other bubble tea places. I found the tea to be of the right strength and also the pearls were cooked to perfection! The second time I came I got the creama (for those Mandarin speakers, I believe it's 'nai2 gai4'), which has been gaining lots of popularity in Taiwan. Creama is where there is a layer of cream at the top, and you are able to drink it sort of like a coffee where you will get a bit of a salty/creamy taste from the cream with a bit of your tea. Not for all I would say, especially since some people would not like the salty taste of the cream, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you get it and don't like it, take your straw and mix the whole mixture together, it will taste like regular milk tea. In addition to that, this place also does the percent ice and percent sugar, which is great since everybody has different tastes. I find that 30 or 50% sugar is good enough for me, and if the day is hot enough, I will go up to 70% ice. I try to go lower to about 50% ice, but you never know how hot it can be with this recent heat wave! SERVICE: Fast, attentive, everything you would expect. Great thing about this place too is that they will remake the drink if you want to if it is not up to your satisfaction. Overall, Sharetea is a win in Berkeley. I will definitely be back every time I am around downtown to enjoy a nice cold bubble tea drink. read more

I came to Sharetea in hopes of finding more stores like Gong Cha in the Bay Area. There's something about the crema+milk tea combination that is so heavenly delightful. This Sharetea location greets you with wonderful aromas of fragrant tea right when you walk in, and is pretty spacious to accommodate crowds and lines. With the suggestions from a friend of mine, I ordered a milk green tea crema with boba. The line moved very quickly, and we got our order in no time at all. I imagine that during peak hours, with the traffic of the students in session, the line and wait would be a bit longer. Anyhow, I was not let down when I received my drink. There is something special about this crema -- there is a slight salted taste at the end of every sip that keeps it interesting. The boba is chewy and perfectly sweet. My only gripe is that I didn't know I could customize the ice and sugar level of my drink, and the beverage itself was a little bit too sweet for me. There is a place that says that on the menu board, but it is super tiny (bottom right corner). I would suggest for the store to place a sign near the register so that people are able to make a more informed decision. Regardless, I enjoyed my Sharetea experience and will definitely come back again to try new flavors!!! read more

It was my first time trying this. How lucky was I to come at the busiest time of the day? Lol Room was pretty decent sized but I couldn't tell because it was packed. A lot of teenagers come here and pretty much take up 2/3 of the room. Line was pretty short, and took about five minutes for me to reach the front. Kinda rushed, I picked the first drink that I saw and so I got Honey Milk Tea (cold.) QUICK service despite the crowd. Boba was on the softer side but was good. Drink had a fresh taste to it. 4 stars because I got sick of it after awhile. Overall, this place is somewhere to chill and have good boba with your friends. I had the okinawa milk tea with pearls (80% sugar) and it was very satisfying; it didn't get too sweet until I had already had half of it. Convenient location and open late - great for late boba runs when I'm in Berkeley. My go to drink is Okinawa pearl milk tea, but when I go with friends, they also get handmade taro fresh milk and classic pearl milk tea. The store front is pretty small and there aren't that many seats, so it's not ideal for hanging out unless you're lucky and catch a seat. Otherwise, I usually just stop by to pick up drinks. It can also be a bit messy and on the dirtier side (likely just from the amount of foot traffic). The servers are a hit or miss. Some of them are really helpful and enthusiastic, others are not so much. Also, I've never been charged extra here for asking for "no ice" (like I was at the Sharetea in the Metreon in SF), and they've always informed me when something would be an extra charge. read more

The drinks: I really like that you can specify the amount of sugar and ice in the tea. Sometimes boba can be WAY too sweet and the ice can really water boba down, so I like the ordering option. With that said, keep in mind that sweet means SWEET here; I would definitely opt for a range lower than what you're usually used to. Out of all the boba places in Berkeley, I think Sharetea has one of the best varieties in Berkeley. I love the honey milk tea and jasmine milk tea. Some of the names here may be unfamiliar, but if you have a question around a certain drink, the staff is always willing to help. However, I'm not the biggest topping fan for boba, and I think that's one of the things that makes Sharetea popular--I've heard pretty good things about their pearls and jellies. The atmosphere: Heads up, the seating here is super limited. There's probably only 3 tables, and given the popularity of the place, you're gonna have a hard time finding a place. That being said, most people are only here for a quick chat, so if you're patient enough, you can find a place. This place opened up fairly recently, but I think the hype has died down a little. If you go on top of the hour or around 4/5pm the line might be out the door. But the line goes quickly, and they serve the drinks fast. read more
