Oh I wanted to enjoy the food here, but it was just gross. Clamcakes were too dry, yet oily. Hot dog wasn't hot and my friend's burger was plain nasty. We also saw the cook sneeze, wipe his nose, wipe the snot off his shirt, and keep on cooking! Not to mention that the older guy who took our order was hitting on me and my friend... Asking what we're up to tonight and decidedly looking at our chests the whole time. You're old, buddy -- leave us alone --we just wanted a quick bite. Rapid Rays is a Saco classic. Service is quick, food is hot and fresh. The hot dogs are THE reason to go here. So tasty on a nice warm bun. Other items on the menu such as burgers aren't the best, but tolerable. Stop in and grab a loaded hotdog or two with a little carton of chocolate milk. It's the best. read more

I've eaten many a burger in my day. The big one at Rapid Ray's Is quite unfortunately one of them. No offense to Ol' Ray, but maybe your cuisine should've stayed in the 50's back when it was relevant. Run of the mill does burgers, luck lodgers does burgers, golden rooster, Saco house, palace diner, McDonalds, burgerking (now closed, so much for being the king of burgers amirite), Wendy's, etc. there are so many fucking burger joints and burger serving restaurants in Saco that I think I'm gonna convert to hotdogs or something so I can stop eating the same defrosted hockey puck in different styles. Rapid Rays is a lifetime favorite. I can't remember a time not coming here! For a quick, late night service of hot dogs, cheeseburgers, fries, and chocolate milk... you just can't go wrong! This is a long standing tradition in the Saco area and has been family owned since it's opening. While growing up, coming in off the ocean we would always stop here for a quick dinner, and now when I am home, I ALWAYS bring out of town guests here to experience the best cheese dogs and cheeseburgers and fries. Steamed hot dog rolls; loaded toppings; and always friendly service! Note that when you order, they don't want to know the toppings until the order is up and ready- loaded, doesn't include ketchup, so be sure to ask! There's no seats here, just standing counter tops and even if the line looks long, they have a knack for getting through the line quickly, efficiently, and with no less quality to the food as if you were the only order of the night. read more

Traveling up the east coast and we decided to give this place a try because we were really hungry and wanted something quick. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I know only three stars but for fast food and me that is pretty good. I would definately eat here again though if I was in the mood for fast food. I am not ashamed to say that I am yelp-obsessed. I will rarely go anywhere these days before checking with you guys to see if it's worth it and to know what to expect. So per usual I read several reviews about Rapid Rays before deciding to stop by. All the reviews I'd read were pretty fantastic -- however I never once came across the fact that this place is pretty much take-out-only.... um, what? Lets start from the beginning. The hubby & I found the place via GPS with no problems. We found street parking and strolled into Rapid Rays on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm. It wasn't super crowded, but it's probably still off season for them. There were two big windows for ordering, but only one was open. As we waited in the short line inside, we instantly noticed that there was literally not one chair or seat-like-structure inside the entire establishment. There are shallow shelves along the windows that you could stand at.... but lets be honest - who wants to stand and eat your lunch? Not us. (minus 1 star). Once it was our turn to order, the cashier was friendly enough. We ordered two hot dogs, a cheeseburger, a large fry and two drinks. Altogether it was $12 and change. Pretty fan-freaking-tastic pricing. A few minutes later, once the cook was done preparing our food, he came to the window and asked what toppings we wanted. I can imagine that gets fairly confusing when it's crowded in the summer time but it was fine for us, today. Once we had our food we ran back to our car to enjoy our lunch. (there are a few park benches outside the building but it was cold today so we passed on that option) The cheeseburger was good... a small patty, comparable to any fast food restaurant but it did seem fresher. The hubby said his hot dogs were steamed, not grilled (minus 1 star), but they were OK. The fries were really good. For the price of everything we cant really complain much anyway. Overall, not bad. They'd get 4 stars if they had some bar stools or something.. (can you tell we like to sit down and enjoy our meals?) Anyway, the prices are cheap and the food does seem fresher than any fast food establishment you could stop at. I'd recommend if you happened to be passing by. read more

My Mother has lived in Saco for 5 years, about 3 years ago while visiting I gave Rapid Ray's a try. I was unimpressed to say the least and so was my Mother and Husband. Ever since I moved here myself, people have been telling me to give it another shot- so I did. It was actually worse than 3 years ago. The burgers are overcooked, the staff is grumpy, the fries are mediocre at best and the hot dogs aren't that great. Apparently you need to be from here to enjoy the junk they serve. If i want crappy burger served to me by an unfriendly staff, I'll hit up McDonalds. read more

Very fine burger and hot dog. Found the relish to be just a tad overpowering (unlike Harmons Lunch which is more subtle and complimentary)....would probably order without next time to fully appreciate the fine burger. Wow I have been going to Rapid Rays since I was a child when they had a truck parked selling their burgers and dogs. I have to say I think I just went to Rapids for the last time. I ordered my food as I have always done the guy on the register ( the "new kids" as the owners have retire) had an issue ringing in my order perhaps he didn't hear I wanted fries so I corrected him. He made the adjustment and I paid. When my order came I didn't get some of the items I ordered so I went back. They accommodated my request for my missing food. As I was standing eating I could hear them say how they had to give a free clam cake and water to that... I went back and surprised them as they were speechless that I was still there. I HAD ordered the items missing and for them to be talking about a customer while being present only to make me feel that I was taking advantage (for a free meal) and I had not really ordered my food. Argh! Customer service goes a long way! Listen to your customers don't worry about the fry guy who went downstairs. Food is good, it is what it is but if you go there make sure they know what you ordered or they may talk about you in an unprofessional way. read more

Rapid Ray's is the best value for a mom and pop shop around. I can get more for my money at Rapid Ray's than at McDonalds or anything further up the road and best of all they take debit/credit cards! Thats a huge thing to me and its great when you just feel too tired to cook. read more
