Food was made pretty quick, though there was nobody queued up when I arrived. Burgers are slightly on the smaller side (imo), which is perhaps why the double is also prominently listed on their menu. Onion rings are hand-made and not factory produced. Their mayo-based special sauce is dangerously great. Give me a bowl and spoon, please. Friendly folks here; minimal 'bar' indoor seating and several picnic tables outside. It's on a busy road so there's fair traffic noise. The Hamburger Stand is back open for the season Yesterday I stopped by to grab a menu and after looking it over I called. Barbara answered and took my order, told me the price and asked how long til I arrived. I said I was already there and she said give them 5 or so minutes. Let me say that the 1st sip of the reeses milk shake was amazing. I remember why I don't get them anywhere else. The burger was nice and juicy and had my favorite toppings and the hand cut fries reminded me of the beach, nice and crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy inside it really was the perfect lunch. My only complaint was the straw kept getting plugged by the reeses chunks on the bottom of the cup. If you're hungry and looking to support local businesses try this place out. Someone recommended The Hamburger Stand to me, so my husband and I went to check it out today. For what it is, it is excellent. The burgers aren't as good as the best homemade burgers of course, but for a fast food burger, it was great. The meat was lean and flavorful, and the burger was cooked well. However, the fresh cut crinkle fries were the real star. They are as good as the best ones at the beach, and it was nice that it was easy to park, that there was a very clean place to sit, and that there was white vinegar and salt on every table. Unless you want the OOB vibe, this is the place to eat beach fries. My husband tried the poutine and said it was authentic and delicious. What a great place for lunch. Was driving bye and saw this place that we never seen before so we stopped and glad we did. This is an old service station turned into a what I would call a hamburger joint. It's walk up service and out door seating. The ordering was made easy with friendly staff and the burgers are very good. Also, when I attempted to pay the cashier noticed I was Military and stopped the transaction. I had very high expectations for this place. Super high, probably too high if we're being honest. Something about small, hole in the wall burger stands really sets the bar high for me. Like Harmon's Lunch, or any numerous Dairy Bars up in the County, I just expect charbroiled, tasty, cheap, perfection. And, well, it was close-ish. Now, I came here as part of the Best Burgers Portland, and my son and myself were excited. Painted picnic tables, milkshakes, fries by the pint, and the classic red and white boxes?!? My mouth was watering as we pulled up. We entered, ordered two double cheeseburgers loaded, a pint of fries and two sodas. (Excited to try their milkshakes soon!) Headed outside, grabbed a nice clean picnic table with a view, and waited. It didn't take long, maybe 7 minutes of idle chatter before my name was slaughtered (always happens). Grabbed the food and back to the table. The burgers were in the classic box, fries in a bag. It was like Christmas morning, couldn't wait to open the box and see the glory inside! First reaction, like Harmon's, they are small. Though more expensive than Harmon's. I easily could have eaten a second burger, as could my 14 year old son, though the fries helped bridge that void. My burger was good, but, something I never thought I'd say, there was way too much pepper. And for a guy that puts roughly a quarter cup of pepper on everything, including cereal (kidding), that's saying something. I couldn't taste the meat, just pepper. The bun was soft, the veggies and condiments balanced, but the pepper kinda ruined it for me. Now, because I do love pepper, I didn't hate it, just wished I could have tasted the meat more, you know? That being said, my son couldn't taste pepper in his at all. So maybe the cook just went a little overboard on mine in the lunch rush? Who knows. Will I try again, for sure. I love me a good burger, and I love a good burger at picnic tables, inches from a busy road. The danger adds something. I want to start by saying I love their lunch and dinner food. Stopped on today for breakfast and was not impressed. The hash browns were great, very crispy and hot as you would expect. Got a breakfast sandwich and it was served on a hamburger roll, lazy. If you're going to try to expand your menu and serve breakfast, at the very least get some english muffins. The food was not what I would consider to be better than average. I got a hot dog with chili and cheese and a cup of fries with the special sauce. Hubby got a double cheeseburger with the poutine fries. First off, the chili had no flavor at all, at first I thought maybe they had forgotten it, but nope it was there, just not flavorful. My fries were not the super crispy ones we had read about and they had no salt. They weren't bad once I put salt on them, just not what we were expecting based on the reviews we read. The special sauce was tasty though. Hubby said his burger had no seasoning, but it was just a burger, nothing more than average. Now for the poutine. This was our first experience with poutine and while we weren't sure what to expect we were hoping to be amazed due to the reviews. Whelp, sadly we weren't. It's basically some brown gravy with cheese curds and the gravy itself wasn't very flavorful, I have tasted better canned gravy. She helped with answering questions and made suggestions and patient with us changing our minds. Her positive attitude never faulted! The roll was not just your run of the mill hot dog roll out of a grocery store. I'm not sure where they get the rolls but all lobster rolls should be on this. The french fries! Oh my.
