I have had a problem with a clogged pipe for months. I have had it snaked twice by another company the past couple of years and it still continue to clog. Christian came out and did his best to undo the clog, but it just wanted to show how stubborn it was. He didn't give up and had reinforcements show up. After multiple attempts and a snake getting caught, a camera was used and they found a hole in the pipe. If it weren't for the clog being so stubborn a camera may not have been used and the hole would have continued to go unnoticed. We made a decision to fix the pipe and put a clean catch in the same spot. I was extremely happy that the break was outside the house. Travis was awesome. After having the concrete cut, he took over and cut the pipe, put in the clean catch, cemented the area back up, removed all the old concrete and debris and it looks like nothing happened. It was reading the other positive reviews that made me choose Rapid Rooter and I'm extremely happy I did. And the overall cost was very reasonable. Rapid First Plumbing has been serving our Davis home for several years, inside and out. Their service has always been prompt and prices fair (sometimes even voluntarily discounted). As these problems go, we often called outside of normal business hours. Office support has always been friendly and efficient. The one time a large plumbing problem delayed their usual fast service, our normal plumber, Michael, still made the time to come out and do a quick check as to the seriousness of the problem (upstairs toilet soaking ceiling). We were given an assessment of the problem, offered another plumber within Rapid First Plumbing who could come out immediately, or a timeframe when Michael could return. We waited for Michael. I want to thank a specific employee, Charles, for being good at his job and smarter than the average bear. Over the course of a couple months I had two guys from another company come twice, and one other guy from Rapid Rooter come by twice because our kitchen/laundry clog issue kept returning. Charles was the first to look under the house and notice that the drain pipe had been poorly repaired by an amateur, and also see that the entire underside of the house was soaked. By repeatedly bashing a snake down a pipe system "repaired" improperly with irrigation 90 degree fittings, the other guys had broken a connection at the head of the drain. I'm a fix-it kind of guy and was able to lay plastic out ahead of myself to stay out of the mud and I properly replaced the connections that day, including adding more support. In cutting out the bad sections I found a 90 degree bend near the end that was completely clogged--nothing was getting through it. All the laundry and dishwasher water was dumping under the house! He had to work through the drain clean out in the back of house, so was careful to come through the back, as to not soil the carpet. A minor leak in my 16 year old water heater turned into a major leak today. I contacted several companies to get some rough estimates of the cost of replacement and find out how quickly they could install. Tyler and Chris showed up ready to install this afternoon (once they procured the water heater). They were not the least expensive but were in the ballpark and their deal includes an annual drain and preventive maintenance service along with a commitment to provide free labor on any repairs that may be required over the life of the unit. They installed a Bradford White Defender water heater which has a solid reputation as a high quality American made water heater. I also appreciated the time they took to explain how the system works and, especially, the procedure for lighting the pilot which is very simple on this particular unit. read more

I woke up this morning, on a Saturday, at 6am to take a shower and the water started coming up through the drain, and through the other shower drain, and the toilets wouldn't drain either. ICK!!! I called Rapid Rooter to replace a shower mix valve and check the solder joints in the walls. There was a leak from the previous plumbing company when I did a remodel. The tech showed up when scheduled, was very polite, friendly, and knew his stuff. He quickly pointed out that I bought an incorrect replacement fixture which made him unable to complete the project. After I brought back the fixture that fit, he quickly returned and finished the project. He cleaned everything up well. I know I could have gotten a cheaper plumber, but then I could end up with the same problem later. I'd definitely use Rapid Rooter again. read more

Called three other places to clear a clog before calling Rapid Rooter. All others were unable to come out the same evening due to scheduling conflicts. Michael arrive in less than 90 min and immediately got to work. He spent a good amount of time attempting to find my clean out drain in the front of my house. He event went as far as to go down the street to ask my neighbor, who had the same layout, if they had a clean out. Unfortunately, they didn't which meant my house didn't either. He was kind enough to do all this before charging 100$ for a scope to find the clean out, saving me 100$! He offered to put in a clean out, but we weren't ready to do that at the moment. So we opted to have him pull the toilet and run a snake to clear the clog. Michael was fast, CLEAN and very friendly. I had a leak in my front yard by the main shut off valve so I called Rapid First Plumping. It was too late in the day for someone to come out so they promised to arrive first thing in the morning and at least diagnose the problem. They arrived on time and explained how they would figure out the source of the leak. After some digging they found that a 90 degree pvc pipe had cracked and needed to be replaced. They were very accommodating and offered to continue with the repair even though it was a last minute appointment. They gave me an estimate and completed the repair quickly for the price they quoted. This is not the first time I have called them for an issue that needed an immediate response. Personally uneducated in the field of plumbing, I was prepared to hear him to start talking about technical terms i did not know and ask me to give him all my money. complete opposite!!! he simply explained that what we where experiencing was not an issue and was harmless and that it did not need any repairs. My toilet decided to back up and have me plunging for 2 25 minute intervals to no avail. Realizing the clog was going no where and desperate to use the bathroom, I had no choice but to find someone to come out. I called after my mini meltdown, still upset at the situation and spoke to the dispatcher. She asked a few questions then we hung up. She called me back less than 5 minutes later to see if my apartments had a contract with their company. Unfortunately they did not. I asked her how long it would be until someone arrived. She told me about 30 minutes or so. Approximately 30 minutes later the gentleman showed up. I apologized for the lingering aroma floating in the air. Ya you know where I'm going with this. So I will spare the details. Anyway he took a look, gave me a quote, went back to his truck and returned with a snake. 2 minutes later my toilet is unclogged, I'm paying and he's on his way. If I need them again I will call but I'm hoping I don't. I would recommend this company. read more

Short version: Meghan from rapid first plumbing was dishonest. I do not recommend rfp bring your hard earn honest cash elsewhere Long version: I had a leak in my toilet and was recommended RFP by friend and by yelp. Called and Meghan picked up. I told her my issue and she was going to send someone out. I then asked her about the cost for them to send someone out and she said 175/hr plus parts. That didn't answer my question about how much it will cost for them to evaluate my problem. So I asked her again about the fee for the guy to come in to diagnose the issue and she says 175/hr and they will give me a quote on the total fee before I start. Again that didn't answer my question so I asked her how much will it cost me for the guy to come out today. Then with a slight annoyed attitude, she says it's free for them to come and look and once they have a quote it will be 175 an hour plus parts. Skip forward 3 hrs, the tech came (Travis s5) and I showed him the problem. After checking it out he told me I should buy a new toilet and they can install it for me. I was like great I'll get it and call them back. He said it'll roughly take an hour so about 200 to get it installed. I was okay with that and he told me to call them once I buy the toilet. Then he proceeded to write me a bill for 75 dollars for today's evaluation (service charge). I was a bit confused and told him what Meghan told me. He calls Meghan and she tells him she only told me about the hourly rate. At this point I am extremely disappointed. I don't mind the service charge. The guy came out and did honest work and should be compensated with the fees set. However, what I am livid about is the dishonesty Meghan showed. If she would have just told me the truth or told Travis the truth, things would be easier. In this type of business, trust is far more important. Needless to say I will not be calling rapid first plumbing anytime soon and I will definitely not recommend this dishonest place to anyone. I will also make sure none of my family/friends visit rfp. You never know when they will perform a bait and switch on you. STAY AWAY! More honest plumber out there! read more

I called them out to get an estimate and after getting a few estimates we decided to go with them because they were the lowest and I felt comfortable with their technician Jeremy. We had had a spraying spigot main in front of the house and our water line to our refrigerator was leaking. A total puddle job! The technician was good, and did his job well. My problem is that I paid with credit card, gave my email address and never got a receipt. Easy to take my money but no receipt? The paperwork had the wrong first name. Not even close. I feel disrespected since I hate that name. In the past month it seems my house has decided to fall apart around me. I have had three separate plumbing issues and had called these folks each time. The gentleman who was sent out to look at my hot water heater spent less than 10 minutes doing nothing but attempting to relight the pilot after he scoffed at me when he found that I installed it myself two years prior. Still without hot water, I had PG&E come out the next day and their technician had it working in less than 5 mins. Although I was quite disappointed in the initial hot water heater service I was highly impressed by the technicians that came out to fix my 4 inch and 2 inch sewage lines. Sean was friendly quick and efficient and very understanding of my frustrations. I don't think I will be calling them again for hot water heater problems but any other plumbing problems, they would be my first call. read more

Steve Yarbrough unclogged our 4-inch sewer line in less than an hour. We love Rapid Rooter Plumbing McCellan Park. The price too! They charge for what's needed without trying to up-sell unnecessary services. The evening before, we called different company with a similar sounding name. They removed a few roots, and after a halfhearted try, said the line must be broken, and for an addition charge they would do a camera inspection. They quit without unplugging the sewer, and they still demanded payment, which turned out to be twice what Steve charged. Charles Washington, Tech #73, showed up within an hour of placing the call:-) He was extremely professional, polite and knowledgeable. This is the second time we needed to have the sewer line cleared and I really wanted to know why this keeps happening. Charles suggested that he could snake a camera through the pipes so we could actually see what was going on. As disgusting as that sounded I agreed. It turned out that the line from the house to the street was fine but the city clay pipe was disintegrating and had roots growing right through the pipe walls. Charles patiently allowed me to video tape his live camera feed so that I could share his findings with the city workers when they come out. I found Rapid Rooter thanks to Yelp. And based on their great reviews here I decided to get them out for an emergency - to unclog a backed up sewage line. Jake came out about 30-40 minutes after I called Rapid Rooter, arriving at around 7PM. He was friendly, efficient, honest and very professional, and he did an excellent job in both unclogging our blocked sewage line and in assessing the health of the sewage line.
