I'd always heard about Randy's Donuts, so while I was at the Anaheim Packing House for dinner, I finally decided to see what all the hype was about. I picked up a small assortment so I could get a good feel for what they offer. Before I even got to the donuts, I have to ask: why does the box have four holes in it? I understand it's probably meant to resemble donut holes, but it seems like an odd design choice. For donuts that aren't exactly cheap, I'd rather have a box that keeps them fresh than one with decorative cutouts. Now for the donuts: Chocolate Raised: The donut itself was surprisingly light, airy, and soft with a nice chew. The texture was exactly what I want from a raised donut. The problem was the chocolate icing. The first bite tasted good, but after a few seconds it left an almost burnt, slightly bitter aftertaste that became more noticeable with every bite. It completely overshadowed what was otherwise a really nice donut. Glazed: This was easily my favorite of the bunch. A good glazed donut is the benchmark for any donut shop, and Randy's did a respectable job. The glaze had a pleasant sweetness without being overwhelming, and the dough was soft and fresh. For some reason, though, it felt a little denser and heavier than the chocolate raised, even though the flavor was much better. Maple: The maple flavor itself was enjoyable and had a nice, rich sweetness without tasting artificial. The icing was noticeably thicker than I expected, almost like a layer of frosting instead of a thin glaze. While it tasted good, that extra thickness made the donut feel heavier and richer than I usually prefer. Blueberry Cake: This one just wasn't for me. The cake texture felt dense and dry compared to the raised donuts, and the blueberry flavor didn't really come through. Instead, it had an artificial sweetness that left me wanting to move on after just a couple of bites. Cronut: It's essentially a glazed croissant, and that's exactly what it tasted like. The outside had a nice crispness, the inside was flaky and buttery, and the glaze added just enough sweetness. It was enjoyable, but it also wasn't anything that really stood out or made me think, "I need to order this again." Overall, I'm glad I finally gave Randy's Donuts a try because it's such a well-known name, but I don't think it's a place I'll be returning to. The glazed donut was the standout, the dough on the raised donuts was genuinely good, but the flavors and overall experience just didn't live up to the reputation for me. read more

Randy's Donuts was one of the first places my family and I saw as we walked inside the Anaheim Packing district. It's right next to the pizza restaurant. Parking at the Anaheim district the evening we visited during the Holidays was super busy! We had to park a few blocks away and walk over. The moment I approached the counter in the food hall, I was pretty excited! This is one of the newer locations in Southern California for Randy's Donuts. My favorite is the classic glaze. Each bite of the classic glaze is soft and slightly sweet. The donut wasn't hard and had a light fluffy texture. The choices are not too extensive compared to other Randy's donuts location but it does have classic choices as well as some creative donuts. You can also get coffee here too! It's great to be able to get donuts and a hot drink, then sit in the courtyard at the Anaheim Packing district! Sometimes this spot can get relatively busy especially on the weekends, but I always have to get a glazed donut from Randy's donuts! Stopped in to the Anaheim Packing District on the way to the airport. Randy's called our name with delicious donut options. This was the freshest, lightest, tastiest donut I've ever had! Went here today and no one was up front to help guests so we left. Went to have lunch cane back to have dessert and a worker literally looked at both of us and just walked away and went to the coffee station. No "hello" no "I'll be right with you" just started to make a drink and never took our order. After a few minutes waiting an no service we just walked away. They really do live up to the hype. While I'm typically more of a mom and pop Cambodian donut shop type of guy, I do recognize that a local chain is very much the same thing. I just had a basic maple donut since the glazed was sold out, and I found it solid and at a fair price despite the location within the Anaheim Packing House, which admittedly is always an inconvenience to get to. I do want to try their other donuts, the Texas one was super tempting but I couldn't stomach the calories (and arguably shouldn't ever). They have some creative creations as well though not as many as the stores that specialize in it, but probably bring some of that no-nonsense ethos to their approach compared to the others that sort of deviate from actually tasting like a good donut. That's probably the biggest appeal of Randy's is that they have the small mom and pop flair and style to just making cheap, delicious donuts while not being afraid of modern trends, and I love that for them. TIP: Free parking garages around even if there's a walk. I believe they have another location in OC in Santa Ana that's probably less of a pain to get to. read more

Online it says this location opens at 8:00 AM, and I placed my order right at 8:00 AM. I even arrived later to give the staff some extra time, but when I got there, I was told to wait another five minutes. There was no greeting, no acknowledgment, and no sense of urgency--just someone focused on the TV while I stood there waiting. What made this especially frustrating is that I was on my way to the airport to pick someone up and wanted to surprise them with these donuts. When a business advertises that it opens at 8:00 AM, customers should be able to count on the store being ready to serve at that time. Things should be ready to go when the doors open, not still being put together 20-25 minutes later. I also noticed donuts still sitting out instead of being properly packaged and ready for customers. They clearly weren't fresh out of the oven, so I'm not sure why everything wasn't prepared before opening. It gave the impression that the store simply wasn't ready despite being officially open. I've visited the original LA location many times, and despite being much busier, they're always fast, friendly, organized, and ready to help customers. Unfortunately, this location has consistently provided a much lower level of service. Despite being in a newer area, the customer service, organization, and overall experience have been disappointing. The original location handles customers quickly and professionally, while this location often feels unprepared and uninterested in providing a positive customer experience. Customer service, professionalism, and opening preparedness could definitely be improved. If I'm being honest, I'd rather make the drive to the original LA location than return here for this level of service. read more

2/3/2025 Newly opened a month ago. Haven't tried Randy's Donuts in such a long time. I've only tried it once in LA, but never gone back. Is that a bad sign? I've been a Sidecar Donuts fan for many years, I've never needed to go elsewhere. While I was waiting for pizza slices to be reheated at ZeroZero39 Pizzeria, I've decided to purchase their popular flavor, their Butter Crumb Raised Donut. BUTTER CRUMB RAISED Appearance-wise, it did look very sweet. Actually, all their donuts looked super sweet, so I was reluctant to try. I was told their butter crumb raised donut was popular, so wanted to try it. First impression is that it was fluffy and soft. Texture was good. It tasted fresh. However, it was covered in powdered sugar and it was very sweet. I was told there's butter pieces on top with the powdered sugar, so I thought there would be some buttery flavor, but it wasn't there. I couldn't quite make out the flavors. All I could taste was vanilla flavored raised donut with powdered sugar on top. There was an odd flavor in there that was indistinguishable. It was trying to taste like butter and had a little bit of saltiness, but still wasn't sure what it was supposed to be. I didn't finish the donut. Tossed it in the trash can. Sorry Randy's Donuts. This spot is hidden in the back corner near the bathrooms, so they may be easily missed - we only accidentally stumbled upon them, while looking for the bathroom. I was intrigued by their matcha donut, but it looked extremely sweet and I was also pretty full, so I did not get one. Donuts were really good, the girl at the front counter was really nice BUT, I bought a cold brew only to find that it's the Stōk brand that you can buy at the grocery store for like $5 for a 1/2 gal. This is such a pet peeve of mine. It didn't say on the menu that they didn't make it in house, and all the signs say "specialty coffee." You can see the big, fancy espresso machine, so I assumed at the very least that if it wasn't made in house that it would be a quality brand.
