I've seen this in other reviews. Randall's has become an over-priced convenience store. This location and the one on Balcones near 2222 are pretty much the same. Only redeeming quality to this one on Mesa & Spicewood Springs is it has a Starbucks. Besides that, it's old person central since they're next door to a retirement home. Both the employees and most of the customers are ancient, and I'm in my mid-40s! All that aside, they have lame selection and high prices.....not a good combo. If I need to pick up something quick on my way home, I may stop there. If I need to do a full grocery shopping trip, I'm going to any HEB in town. read more

Pretty much everything here is overpriced, but the location is uber convenient and the location is so much nicer then the closest HEB on Great Hills. I am a fan of how helpful the employees are and how everyone seems to have gone to a customer service class to learn how to go above and beyond for customers. I do have to subtract a point for not having my Randalls card updated with my correct phone number so that I could get my discount (when I forgot my card). It is nice knowing I get frequent flyer points from Randalls discount card as well. read more

This is in response to the lady from Randall's who commented on my last review. I went to the Randall's website but was unable to locate a contact us button. My losses have been mitigated. Anycart refunded my money the day of the issue. Unfortunately Randall's is the only Austin delivery that they support currently. I'm not sure what sort of help you were offering. My only concern is that everyone gets as poor a service as I did from my two attempts at using Randall's delivery. Thank you very much for your concern. read more

This Randall's is down the street from my house, so while I should go to HEB to save money, I often end up here to save time and hassle. It's small and never crowded, so I don't feel any extra stress when having to shop. Sometimes the lines can get a bit long if they're not paying attention, but the staff are very friendly and welcoming, so I survive. It's a bonus that there's a Starbucks inside, too. Great little neighborhood store. read more

Great customer service, great bakery, limited selection. I'm a long-time HEB shopper because they have better selection and lower prices than Randall's. This Randall's is very close to my house but I still used to not go here because it often didn't have what I wanted. And I think the Randall's card is a bit silly. Why don't they just lower their prices? I guess it rewards the regulars. Lately, however, I've been going to Randall's a lot more because it's more convenient (smaller store, easier to get in and out) and their checkers are so friendly. I also really like their bakery, esp. the daily freshly baked rolls. If you're absolutely going for lowest prices or largest selection, then this isn't the store. But if you appreciate good customer service, you can't beat this Randall's. read more

Not a bad place to shop for a few groceries and maybe pick up some dinner at the cafe. The fried chicken is amazing; the batter is not too heavy and the breasts are juicy and meaty. read more

My review is specifically for their Fried Chicken in the deli, it's seriously good. Great value too, 8 pieces for $8!

I actually enjoy grocery shopping, but have requirements. I'm busy so I go to one store, once a week, with a list. I know not all stores carry "exotic" ingredients and I can accommodate that. But three times in recent memory this Randalls has lacked some basic ingredient, forcing me to abandon ship to another store so I can get my shopping done. I resent the waste of time. Basic ingredients, by the way, include eggplant, garbanzo beans, and eggnog (in December). Those shouldn't be a tall order for a decently run grocery store. If I need to drive to HEB anyway, I won't waste my time wandering around this Randalls first. Do yourself a favor and go straight to HEB; they've never ever been out of basic (or even exotic) ingredients. read more

Always 1 register open and 20 people in line. Wtf? I'm so over shopping here even though it's in my neighborhood. I could drive to south Austin, shop, checkout, and drive back before I could even purchase one gallon of milk here. Again, wtf. read more

Worst location! I buy flowers weekly and have had no troubles until I met the "floral manager" here. She is extremely rude and unprofessional. When I asked her name she told me but I couldn't understand her so I asked again and she looked at my like I was ignorant and snapped at me " my name is Rosa. Which arrangement do you want!? " I quickly told her nevermind since I had told her 5 times already but she just kept ignoring me and I came back the next day when someone else was working. Horrible customer service. This place is a joke.. read more

Sells expired food... All the time. My boyfriend got so upset that we kept coming home with expired items that he went to the store about a year ago and filled a shopping cart full of expired items. He then asked for a manager at check out and told them that they need to take care of this. Evidently, it didn't impact them. Expired items continue to be sold routinely over a year later. You must double check everything. I like it bc it has a convenient location, but honestly, find it disgusting that management does not have ahold of the most critical importance of running a grocery store... Preventing soiled items. read more

Good Ol' Scandalls, My neighborhood store. They do some things here really awesome and some things ridiculously overpriced. A lot of people from out of town are taken aback by how much the employees here want to "Help" you. I mean it;'s good to know that people care or at least are paid to care, but sometimes I just want to browse the designer cheese in peace. My favorite thing here is the Rancher's reserve Beef, which is like constantly on sale every time I walk in there. Always tender. They also do a good deal on bread and I would credit their bakery with putting two nearby bagel places out of buisness (the bagel places were overpriced corporate chains anyway. Also good is the soda Aisle where Safeway select and Randalls Remarkable do some of the finest knock offs of brand name sodas, indeed far better than Hill Country Scare is the Safeway Select Mountain Breeze. You can almost hear Willy Nelson singing: "They call it that good mountain breeze (oh boy) and does it ever make you go wheeze So I'll cut the cheese If you give me a squeeze of that good ol' Mountain Breeze" Their pharmacy section contains all the necessities at alltright prices, especially birth control (TMI?) The Starbucks within this Randalls is the only Starbucks I will go to, becuase they get the coolest employees to work there. Also good are the ready made Chicken Salads Wine tends to be overpriced and beer selection is kind of slim. Cereals are getting better all the time, as is their selection of organics. The hot soups are easily one of the best deals in town. read more

Wow--I've never had someone talk negatively about me while I was standing right in front of them. While waiting in the check-out line, I had my items on the conveyer belt, and put my Randall's card on top of my boxed salad. When it was my turn to check out, the cashier asked me if I had my Randall's card. I told her it was on top of the salad box. She said it wasn't there. Did she take it off without realizing it? Did it fall into an abyss? I don't know, but she just stood there. I again told her I had put it on the salad box. She again repeated it wasn't there and stood there. I said, "Well, I guess I need a new card." She said, "So you want a new card now?" I said, "Yes, if it takes some of the cost off these items I do." She said it would not, so I said, "Fine, I'll go ahead and proceed without it." As I'm paying her, she then tells the bag person, "I'm so ready to get out of here. Everybody is in a bad mood today; I mean everybody." I looked at her and said, "You mean me?" Randall's, please train your employees to restrain their complaining until the customer is no longer standing in front of you. read more

Terrible customer service. Long lines. Go to HEB. Asked the deli associate for some help picking out a cheese, he responded with "you would have to try them to know, then did not offer a sample." If items aren't on sale they are overpriced. read more

I usually only go to Randalls out of close proximity, Westlake doesn't have an HEB close by so we went to Randalls on Mesa , we went for some Red wine but my girlfriend had a craving for Crab legs and fresh horseradish dip, we were looking all over, and a employee came up and asked us if we needed help, he was very helpful and found exactly the fresh hot horseradish my lady required. So I now have a higher appreciation of Randalls, they are still not as good as HEB but they have helpful employees and are open and close when I need them, especially if its to satisfy my lady's culinary desires read more

Okay having come from San Antonio I haven't had an option in grocery stores since Albertsons was run out of town by HEB in 2001. Having said that not only do I love having a second option here in Austin but I really enjoy my shopping experiences at Randalls! The workers are nice and seem to know what they are doing. With my Remarkable card the prices and offers are just as good as HEB and they also have double and triple coupons something HEB has NEVER had. The place isn't trashy like most HEB's I know and honestly I am tired of HEB's grip on the south Texas area so as long as I live in Austin I'll only be giving my grocery money to Randalls. I hope Austin doesn't become a San Antonio in the future and that the citizens will continue supporting competition. read more

I absolutely love this place. My favorite employee is James the Butcher....always a friendly greeting when I walk by. I'm not much of a cook and he helps me pick out the meat and then explains how to best cook it. If I can't find something one of the employees doesn't just tell me where it is, he finds it for me. The florist is another one with a friendly greeting and a moment to help. The checkers are mostly very friendly and I've never had any issue with Starbucks. I honestly don't know what others are complaining about. Maybe karma? I will admit, though, the bathroom never has hand-paper in it. Thankfully, the toilet paper has always been plentiful! The convenience of this store is exceptional, and I'll gladly pay the extra for saving me time and anxiety that I get from the big stores. read more

This review is about the Randall's Pharmacy. I used to get my meds from the HEB across the street, but I usually had long waits and an extremely depersonalize experience--just the opposite of the Randall's pharmacy. Randall's pharmacy service is quick, and if they don't have what you need, they can have it by the next day. They also have a very functional 24-hour automated phone refill system that projects when your meds will be ready. If you have an emergency, there's always someone available both by phone and in person to talk with. These people KNOW customer service! read more

I am always pleasantly surprised that the people here go out of their way to be friendly here. They always ask for me if I need help. They have excellent deals on ranchers reserve beef...it's great quality beef and pork. I always stock up on deals when they have a sale. It's all about the ranchers reserve beef...and it's sweet that they thank me by name when I check out. read more

The employees here are friendly and helpful. There is rarely a wait to checkout. Otherwise, this is a small, unimpressive location. The Produce generally leaves a lot to be desired. read more

I've never been inside one of these before. I liked what I saw. We bought some pasta salads from the deli. They were delicious but a bit oily. I'll come back sometime. read more

This grocery is the one that is closest to my home but I rarely shop there. I only go there if I want to pay outrageous prices and get rude and incorrect information from management. Many of the employees are very courteous and helpful and I appreciate them. read more

I have asked 5 different people at the Randall's on Mesa to get a product for me that I can only find at HEB. I've given them my phone number and no one has ever called me back nor have they ever gotten the product i would like for them to stock. Looks like I'll have to go back to HEB! read more

This store takes me back to my childhood in the 60s. Love the layout and friendly employees. Not a fan of megastores!

It's a very clean store with a decent range of organic food. Everyone is very helpful and nice. I never have to wait long in line, and they were among the first stores to offer paper bags when the plastic ban went into effect. read more

All in all, its an ok store. Everyone is always helpful and service always comes with a smile. Its also very well situated and convenient. BUT I just can't give it more than 3 stars, as generally just about everything is over priced and the selection is lacking. If you can get past that, this is a great store for you. Otherwise make your way to the HEB at Farwest & Woodhollow. Its older and a little funky at times but the prices and selection far outpace Randall's any day. And the food samples are always awesome! read more

Damn, this store is expensive. Since they are done remodelling, they are open till 1am, but might close earlier on Sunday. The people are nice, but the store is very small, so the selection can be lacking. read more

Last I did a review it to let Randall's know all the shady parking spaces was where they it their carts !

Good staff in bakery! Hannah is a gem and provides awesome service. B-day cake looked great, I believe made by the woman named Ana.

Agree that this store is only to be used for basics and when when you can't get to another market. I actually resolved to not go there after the new year based on my last experience. You go over to the deli expecting someone to be there to help you and you have to yell over to someone who is doing some other job for assistance and when they finally get to you they are absolutely no help. I just had to say "nevermind" and walk away. When I got I got to check out the must have pulled the checkout person right off the street. She had no idea what she was even doing. She had to ask the person next to her for every code. I literally stood there for 10 min while she tried to find the code for zucchini or something. They really don't have a good selection of foods found in any modern day grocery store. Good people over there but it's just not a good store. read more

WTF? We have been using our Randalls card to pay for groceries and get cash back for at least 20 years. Randalls discontiinued this service without bothering to inform anybody. When my husband tried to pay for his groceries with his Randalls card - as he has been doing for at least 20 years - the checker laughed in his face. Randalls - you have no class. You should at least inform people when a service ihas been discontinued. read more

High prices, poor bakery and out of date items abound. The Randalsl card is a joke. The employees are dissatisfied because of poor management and their attitudes show. Even the Starbucks sucks. The place is not very clean and should be knocked down or turned into a 7-11.. The Pharmacy is obviously not part of the culture or under Randalls management. I would give the Pharmacy 6 Stars. Dr. Green, Vickie, Yvonne, Susan are great americans and make this the best pharmacy in the area read more

In the past this location would have only received two stars however the management has improved the products as well as maintained better expectation date products on the shelves. That said, it feels as if this location is an overgrown quickee mart but happy they are in the hood. read more

The restroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned, ever. There was no toilet paper, the toilet was clogged with paper towels, the paper towel holder was empty and the roll sat on a wet counter, therefore the roll was wet. There urine on the seat and the floor was black and sticky. I walked in long enough to notice the following and walked out. The sign on the door where the cleaning schedule should be said to let any associate know if the restroom wasn't clean. I approached a man in a Randall's uniform and mentioned it to him and he said, "Ya I know, it's disgusting in there but I'm the produce guy." When I mentioned the sign said to let any employee know, he said I'll tell someone about it later read more
