This is one of the poorest run HEBs in Austin, but even that's a high bar. They don't carry many incredibly popular items, are always late for promotions and seasonal events, have constant equipment failures, terribly under trained staff, abysmal restocking schedules, and poor line management. All that said, it's still a good store with a top notch pharmacy. But any other heb in town will simply be better because of the multitude of little things thus location has never been able to get right. read more

Popped in for some cottage cheese and diet Dr B before work. I know strange combination but I promise you I do not consume them together. The only thing I don't like about this H-E-B is it's not that easy to get in and out of the parking lot, 620 and Anderson Mill are extremely busy. H-E-B is large with a large parking lot. Gas pumps are on the corner. If it wasn't for the traffic and trying to get in and out I think I would come here more often. Still it's a great H-E-B, it's a large H-E-B, it even has its own HomeGoods section. Personally, I love H-E-B. I love the bakery and I love love love the homemade tortillas. read more

I love heb! But sadly something is wrong here... took them over 45 mins to fill up 6 gallons for a co worker and no there was no one in front of me nor other online orders she was just that slow and re cut the ballon strings like 5 times. And staff is also rude just walking straight in front of you and stopping to stock shelves which is no big deal but don't just keep it in the middle of the aisle. So I went to H-E-B yesterday around 1 PM for lunch on a cold & windy day and what I found was empty soup canisters, dirty hot soup bar when I go to the deli counter and ask them if they plan to bring out more soup, they told me in one hour sir we'll do that. I go to talk to the unit Director named Scott and he basically placated me in saying well I can get you something else like one of our cold soups, not our hot soups and then on top of that the hot soup were cold which means we have a food safety issue. Intern I had a negative experience at this location on this particular day, which is surprising because I normally have a positive interaction. read more

This is my go-to location. I live on 620 right in the middle between 4 points and anderson mill, and I usually chose the anderson mill location. This location is pretty popular, but thankfully there's tons of parking. Staff is always friendly. It's bigger than the one down the road. It always has everything I'm looking for. I have gone to this HEB consistently for 2 years as I live next to it. Unfortunately, my likelihood of returning to this HEB is slim to none after my past few experiences there. Originally coming to this HEB it felt so homey as I knew much of the staff, the food was consistently fresh & abundant, and there truly wasn't ever any kind of disturbances or chaos. However, as time has gone on, this particular location has taken a turn and not for the better. The staff are rude, unprofessional, and often times unintelligent. Consistently I have had instances where the checkout clerks carelessly toss grocery items around (often crushing fragile items), packing raw meats with produce items, or crushing bread/eggs under cans. The checkout lines are NEVER properly staffed. There are maybe 2 available on average with a plethora of staff members just standing around and not doing anything- or better yet, watching TikToks on their phones. Moreover, on numerous occasions I have attempted to use my coupons for my orders. And the clerks just process the transaction without scanning coupons. THEN they'll tell you to go to customer service (which for some stupid reason doesn't open until noon????) And they don't know when it opens (which i had to find out myself). Which, upon going to customer service they just tell you to call a number and have them resolve it. (Which isn't open on weekends and also makes you wait on hold for forever during weekdays). The produce department has consistently had fruits with mold on them or some vegetables with rot holes in them. (Not particularly a staff issue, more of a supply issue). The deli department takes well over 10-15 minutes just to get 1 thing sliced. ONE. I don't know why it takes so long just to get something sliced but they move slower than molasses. The only saving grace of this location is their Meat & Seafood department; they always do a great job. No complaints there. Truly, genuinely disappointed with this location & it's staff. I'll be going to Randalls as HEB at Four Points sucks now. It's a shame because i used to love HEB. read more

Meh. I come here because it's closer than Randall's and the H‑E‑B at Lakeline. Cashiers are constantly rude and have little to no manners. They don't say "Hello" and if you say "Hello" prepare for a blank stare and no response. The good employees have either quit or are never around anymore. The store itself is fine. I don't really deal with any of the departments except on a rare occasion. I haven't had issues with them. It's mainly the cashiers. The baggers have always been friendly. Get rid of majority of the cashiers or re-train them. They are awful. read more

I used to lIke the grocery store about 10 years ago and then it started the slow decline. Last time, the fish person seemed annoyed to serve me my $60 in fish. Produce has been very hit or miss for a long time. Frozen food selection isn't what it used to be. I often make a separate trip to Randall's for their frozen selection. The bakery selection is sub par. No baggers at all ...it's ok I can bag but that was surprising. And sometimes they are just out of some pretty common products like muffins, condiments, skim milk. On a positive note, the people at the deli are always very pleasant. read more

Great HEB. Convenient location. Friendly staff. We've been using the online order and pick-up option through the HEB app. If you do an order 2 days or more in advance, it's free, otherwise it's $4.95 for same day/next day. There are usually time slots within a couple of hours if you're in a real hurry. Well worth it, even if you have to pay. The only negative is that the parking lot, which can get a little hectic sometimes. Love HEB. One of the many perks of living in Texas. Five stars all the way. read more

Once again.. same thing i yelped about last time and i'm so tired of being treated condescendingly.. most of your staff has stopped doing this which i greatly appreciate.. which is stopped taking the bag and scanning it for me and placing it folded on the platform. Just stop. No one is out to steal a 28 cent bag. Tonight and every other time this has happened its been a short haired brunette girl with thick framed glasses has done this. You ask for a bag and she takes it and scans it at the closest station to her... (what if i wanted by choice to go to another station?) I know she just wanted to keep an eye on me making sure everything was scanned. Secondly stop treating me as if i'm going to steal the bag.. if thats protocol than thats horrible. People who have been shopping at HEB for years know that you have to scan the bag. I'm a grown adult so don't treat me like a child. Staff scanning the bag just psychologically makes the customer feel that you think they are a thief. To make matters worse the station she put me at needs to be serviced or something because after each item i scanned it literally asked for cashier to come up because it didn't register i put something in the bag after EVERY ITEM. So the first time this happened she literally opened up my bag to see if i put the item in there.. like are you kidding me!? I'm a grown man in business attire directly after work and every thing she did made me feel like she thought i was some sort of petty thief. I'm not white so it automatically makes me feel like its a racial thing. Next time i'm going to stick around and see if she treats grown caucasian adults like this. I said this in my last review too.. if you really don't trust that person that much fine... atleast hand them the bag to scan themselves.. watch them like a hawk if you have to... and if they don't scan it you can politely tell them to scan it. I was just at H-E-B 4 Points and a food truck was parked in handicapped parking spot. I asked them to move. I went inside and complained to the office Went shopping and when finished truck was still there. Complained again to office and truck. Apparently HEB manager gave them permission. After waiting to talk to police I found out H-E-B owns their parking so they may give them permission. Now I know but I am still livid that H-E-B would take away handicapped parking when there are plenty of other stops near the door they could have used. You can't miss them. Truck is enormous. Decent H-E-B, with the added perk of being an HEB+. Most of the 'Plus' stores have something special added to their extra-large store footprint; this one has an extra-large selection of seasonal/holiday merchandise. In fact, it's one spot to do a LOT of your Xmas decoration or shopping (for your craft-minded friends outside of Texas) in the winter season. There's also a lot to pick up for Halloween; I haven't seen what they do for Easter yet. Outside the holiday/seasonal gimmick, this particular store has a very good wine and pharmacy section. Prices are in line with most HEBs. The only negative is that since this store is ideally situated at the 620/2222 interchange, it's almost always moderately to severely overcrowded! Pro Tip 1: If you find yourself in the right-hand front of the store (as you look at the store as you are walking in), there is a single check-out cashier hidden in that section. It's often overlooked by people who are stacked 3 people deep on the other side. Pro Tip 2: You'll only be able to make a right turn out of all of the HEB exits (at least safely) except at two points. Go to the far end of the parking lot that leads out to 4 Points Drive, and you'll be able to make a left turn to a light. Or, go around the other end and exit on the side by the Target (or out the Target lot). That'll put you on the 2222, but you'll be at the light and can make a left turn onto the 620. read more

During peak hours they are way understaffed. Very few lines open and all self checkouts require to have ten items or less. This rule would make sense if they had enough regular cashiers to checkout customers with more groceries. During slower hours (any weekday before noon) the store is in complete disarray. This is obviously due to restocking but they leave such a mess you can hardly even shop. Had a major walkway blocked this morning with mess. Someone at this H-E-B has a fantastic sense of humor. You see, friends, I live in teh suburbia. White bread. Mayberry. So our Here Everything's Better parking lot, during the week, is strewn with European cars. Back when I used to shop at the Hancock H-E-B, I got in the habit of shopping with my iPod on. It made everything so much more enjoyable while navigating the only H-E-B busier than the Suez Canal. So it took me a few trips to this H-E-B to notice it's most endearing feature: The Soundtrack. I mean, how often do you get to grocery shop to Smashing Pumpkins? or Stone Temple Pilots? How ofter do you do it surrounded by wave after wave of WASPs? There's just something about the juxtaposition of grunge and affluence. And realizing that if any of them were picking up on this, we'd be listening to Burt Bacharach by now. As I somehow forget every weekend, this H-E-B also draws in the lake crowd. If you forgot how I feel about the lake crowd, see my Carlos and Charlie's review sometime. This is our HEB now, and we live about ten seconds from it. Consistently good. One thing I've seen in this and a couple of other parking lots this side of town has just irked me, though. Have you seen those rows of signs near the entrance that say 'Adults with Children Parking' or 'Pregnant Mothers Parking'?! NO. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. What is happening to the world? What lazy motherfuckers actually went to property managers with written complaints about having to WALK AN EXTRA FIFTEEN FEET?! I understand, if you cannot physically walk or are in constant pain, then yeah, you should do something to help alleviate your walking distances. I think they even have a special thing exactly for that purpose. IT'S CALLED A HANDICAPPED PERMIT. Yes, they can give them to pregnant women. But for all the rest of you bitches, listen to this: We went on an intense four day hike in a mountain range in Utah last year. It nearly beat me. Hardest thing I have ever done. 15-mile days in rain and hail over huge expanses of rocky terrain and a couple of extremely dangerous boulder scrambles. We got to our lake finally and were fishing when up comes two hikers and their dog. We find out we were on the same trail and were sharing our stories of frustration and success. Ridiculous!!! The cashier couldn't get a receipt to print...no biggie (I thought) who really ever needs a grocery receipt?! Apparently today I needed it. They didn't give me some of the items I purchased and the ridiculously rude customer service people weren't willing to help. In fact the first one, a girl named Danny, said said she would look into it and call me back. Four hours later, I called her and SURPRISE, she was gone for the day. I had to now explain again to this person and as I would be in the middle of explaining it, they'd start talkin to someone else and I'd have to repeat it, then I was told to hold, a new person would pick up, I'd have to explain again, etc...this happened THREE times. The last one said, there was nothing they could do. He was condescending and rude, which made it even more frustrating. You know how drug companies suck? OK, and you know how dealing with the prescription plan for most insurance companies is enough to make Gandhi consider water-boarding? I think the worst job in the world might be customer service at a pharmacy, because you are right in the pathway of the expletives and small objects that go flying when people find out that the system thinks they should pay $523 when they have insurance. Which is why I have such admiration for the tirelessly cheerful and ever-so-helpful service I always receive at this pharmacy. These wonderful people have repeatedly gone out of their way to solve the problems. On my behalf, they have made calls to the doctor, the drug company, the insurance company...apologizing the whole time for the delay. Their patience never ceases to amaze and inspire me. Consistently friendly service overall, with personal attention when requested...they have several people on the deli & meat/fish counters at all times, and will stop in the middle of stocking or walking to answer questions. There's a made-to-order bakery that makes fresh tortillas and artisan breads. There's even a fresh sushi counter. This store has evolved over the past 10 years to meet the changing needs and wants of the people in the neighborhoods nearby. One manager told me a few years back that if customers request products, HEB will usually carry them, and especially from Central Market, their designer natural foods store. So, as all of California has slowly moved to the Four Points area, this HEB has brought in a double aisle of vitamins and natural supplements, an entire row of organic produce, organically raised and produced meats, fish, eggs, and dairy, and integrated many specialty items I love, such as Mezzetta olives (from Napa Valley) and Ghirardelli chocolate (from San Francisco). The only gripe I have is that the healthy foods are what disappears off the shelf first, because I'm not the only shopper who is looking for them. But just as soon as I start feeling that way, on my next trip, they'll have a bigger stock to make up for the demand. Is it possible to love a grocery store? Um...yes. read more

This morning I dreaded my drive to HEB. Knowing that I have to fight cart returns for a parking place each time I enter the parking lot immediately casts a negative shadow on the shopping experience. I navigate the produce department and play dodge ball with a myriad of employees who are rolling around computers on rolling carts, apparently taking inventory. I proceed to the meat department, where upon perusing some packages of ribs, I step in a bloody puddle of meat juice. Out of surprise, I audibly shout out "disgusting" to which the two by standing employees glanced over and then proceeded with their conversation. I exit the meat department, leaving a trail of bloody flip flop footprints behind me. I was on a mission for some fresh Parmigiano in the cheese department. I tiptoed through the cheese display, inconveniencing a stocker so much that she actually huffed at me because I was impeding on her task. Never mind that I never found what I was looking for, not that the employee even bothered to ask. It's only after today's experience that I was compelled to write this. You see, since I began patronizing your store in April of 2010, I have despised the experience. It is only out of sheer convenience that I visit this location. Not only have I purchased numerous packages of meat that were rancid upon opening (despite a "sell by" date in the future), but I've constantly had trouble locating items in the store (or even an employee who was willing to help). I long for my old HEB, where employees were gracious to assist, meat and seafood was fresh and parking places were abundant. I've started a flirtation with another grocery store. I'm disappointed to say, you are starting to lose your appeal. Please, HEB, reel me back in. I want to love you, but you're just missing the mark. read more

I have shopped here for close to 15 years. Had I reviewed them several months earlier they would have 5 stars hands down but sadly my review comes after changes I have noticed over the past several months and they are not for the better. This HEB use to have friendly, knowledgeable employee's, now it appears as though they want to hire younger, inexperienced staff that lack the proper social skills or etiquette to interact with the public. I have noticed how little by little the people that worked in certain departments and across the store have all been replaced by younger people that have limited knowledge about the department they are working in. It is very uneasy for me to call out anyone by name but lets just say the Bakery, Cheese Department need some help as does produce and check-out. This has been my HEB for longer than some of these people have had their wisdom teeth. I know that sounds a tad garish but for heavens sake if your young you most likely have access to the internet so read up on things. You need to embrace your job and learn about the products you are selling even if it is not your plan on working here 2 - 5 years from now. Some day you may be at a cocktail or dinner party and you can impress everyone with your knowledge of cheese or olive products. The manager here needs to hire more knowledgeable employees instead of young, inexperienced employees who will last a minute before they move on! Oy vey I give up, rant over. Ultimately this is a clean, well stocked HEB with plenty of parking a gas station and other services close by. It will be the perfect store for the casual shopper and is 5 star when compared to other HEB locations. "I'm pretty sure this is the White Person HEB." I said to my boyfriend, as I picked through a very pathetic bin of tomatillos and jalapenos. "Let's go to Fiesta." This is a big HEB. They have pretty much everything you want, as long as you're not making an incredibly ethnic dish (at least Tex-Mex/Mexican). I really don't know what they have against Mexican food ingredients, but I suppose you have to cater to your clientelle and not your employees. No "track your every purchase" Randalls card required. I HATE (and I am not a hater) those stupid Randalls cards and I purposely NEVER shop there for that reason. It's like - "Hey, unless we can track EVERY item you purchase EVERY time you shop here, we are going to hike the price by 10% - 25% on every item". Sorry, I just ranted. But I LOVE HEB because they provide you the low price without stalking you. I imagine my wife and I go to this HEB location 5 times a week. Its a great store. Lots of fresh produce, good beer and wine selection, and they even bring in fresh made Central Market tortillas every day (until they run out). They also hire our local High School kids. Somehow in my short month and a half in Austin, I've already been to 6 or 7 H.E.B.s. Perhaps because they are practically on every street corner. But lucky me, I live right next to the best one! And this happens to be. The prices are comparable to Walmart, and I don't mind paying a teeny bit extra to avoid supporting Walmart and their evil ways. If you go in late afternoon/early evening their are TONS of tasting stations set up. And its not just sampling one product full of preservatives and chemicals. Most of the stuff offered for tasting is from a recipe using fresh, simple ingredients. Just in a quick afternoon shopping trip we (my fiance and I) sampled- Herb Olive oil for dipping and bread, some sort of chicken salad w/ crackers, WINE, some sort of spaghetti, cajun nut mix, and a couple other thiings i can't remember b/c the fiance is the adventurous one that usually does all the tasting, oh yea, and did I mention... WINE! They have the recipes of what they are making and give them to you if you want. 5 stars b/c the staff is always helpful and friendly, they have tons of samples, its prices are relatively cheap, and its within walking distance from my apartment. read more
