I can't believe I'm yelping a grocery store, but then I've never walked into a store to buy sugar and thought my head was going to explode. I might have been drunk cause it's all sort of a shopping blur, but this place is like Whole Foods and Costco hooked up and made a really really awesome bastard child. Super fresh produce, cheap prices, and aisles and aisles of food as far as the eye can see. I'm almost afraid to go back when I actually have to do all my shopping. I may never come out. read more

Ridiculous!!! The cashier couldn't get a receipt to print...no biggie (I thought) who really ever needs a grocery receipt?! Apparently today I needed it. They didn't give me some of the items I purchased and the ridiculously rude customer service people weren't willing to help. In fact the first one, a girl named Danny, said said she would look into it and call me back. Four hours later, I called her and SURPRISE, she was gone for the day. I had to now explain again to this person and as I would be in the middle of explaining it, they'd start talkin to someone else and I'd have to repeat it, then I was told to hold, a new person would pick up, I'd have to explain again, etc...this happened THREE times. The last one said, there was nothing they could do. He was condescending and rude, which made it even more frustrating. This has been the store I've shopped at exclusively for years, but poor customer service is unacceptable read more

You know how drug companies suck? OK, and you know how dealing with the prescription plan for most insurance companies is enough to make Gandhi consider water-boarding? I think the worst job in the world might be customer service at a pharmacy, because you are right in the pathway of the expletives and small objects that go flying when people find out that the system thinks they should pay $523 when they have insurance. Which is why I have such admiration for the tirelessly cheerful and ever-so-helpful service I always receive at this pharmacy. These wonderful people have repeatedly gone out of their way to solve the problems. On my behalf, they have made calls to the doctor, the drug company, the insurance company...apologizing the whole time for the delay. Their patience never ceases to amaze and inspire me. I even walked out today smiling! At a pharmacy!! read more

Consistently friendly service overall, with personal attention when requested...they have several people on the deli & meat/fish counters at all times, and will stop in the middle of stocking or walking to answer questions. There's a made-to-order bakery that makes fresh tortillas and artisan breads. There's even a fresh sushi counter. This store has evolved over the past 10 years to meet the changing needs and wants of the people in the neighborhoods nearby. One manager told me a few years back that if customers request products, HEB will usually carry them, and especially from Central Market, their designer natural foods store. So, as all of California has slowly moved to the Four Points area, this HEB has brought in a double aisle of vitamins and natural supplements, an entire row of organic produce, organically raised and produced meats, fish, eggs, and dairy, and integrated many specialty items I love, such as Mezzetta olives (from Napa Valley) and Ghirardelli chocolate (from San Francisco). The only gripe I have is that the healthy foods are what disappears off the shelf first, because I'm not the only shopper who is looking for them. But just as soon as I start feeling that way, on my next trip, they'll have a bigger stock to make up for the demand. Is it possible to love a grocery store? Um...yes. read more

Be aware this location will not provide paper or disposable plastic grocery bags upon request. Instead they are still insisting upon customers providing reusable grocery bags during the Coronavirus pandemic even in light of growing sentiment they may well be a vector for spreading the disease. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2020/04/08/plastic-bag-bans-reversed-coronavirus-reusable-bags-covid-19/2967950001/ On a brighter note they did have toilet paper in stock on Good Friday. read more

This morning I dreaded my drive to HEB. Knowing that I have to fight cart returns for a parking place each time I enter the parking lot immediately casts a negative shadow on the shopping experience. I navigate the produce department and play dodge ball with a myriad of employees who are rolling around computers on rolling carts, apparently taking inventory. I proceed to the meat department, where upon perusing some packages of ribs, I step in a bloody puddle of meat juice. Out of surprise, I audibly shout out "disgusting" to which the two by standing employees glanced over and then proceeded with their conversation. I exit the meat department, leaving a trail of bloody flip flop footprints behind me. I was on a mission for some fresh Parmigiano in the cheese department. I tiptoed through the cheese display, inconveniencing a stocker so much that she actually huffed at me because I was impeding on her task. Never mind that I never found what I was looking for, not that the employee even bothered to ask. It's only after today's experience that I was compelled to write this. You see, since I began patronizing your store in April of 2010, I have despised the experience. It is only out of sheer convenience that I visit this location. Not only have I purchased numerous packages of meat that were rancid upon opening (despite a "sell by" date in the future), but I've constantly had trouble locating items in the store (or even an employee who was willing to help). I long for my old HEB, where employees were gracious to assist, meat and seafood was fresh and parking places were abundant. I've started a flirtation with another grocery store. I'm disappointed to say, you are starting to lose your appeal. Please, HEB, reel me back in. I want to love you, but you're just missing the mark. read more

I have shopped here for close to 15 years. Had I reviewed them several months earlier they would have 5 stars hands down but sadly my review comes after changes I have noticed over the past several months and they are not for the better. This HEB use to have friendly, knowledgeable employee's, now it appears as though they want to hire younger, inexperienced staff that lack the proper social skills or etiquette to interact with the public. I have noticed how little by little the people that worked in certain departments and across the store have all been replaced by younger people that have limited knowledge about the department they are working in. It is very uneasy for me to call out anyone by name but lets just say the Bakery, Cheese Department need some help as does produce and check-out. This has been my HEB for longer than some of these people have had their wisdom teeth. I know that sounds a tad garish but for heavens sake if your young you most likely have access to the internet so read up on things. You need to embrace your job and learn about the products you are selling even if it is not your plan on working here 2 - 5 years from now. Some day you may be at a cocktail or dinner party and you can impress everyone with your knowledge of cheese or olive products. The manager here needs to hire more knowledgeable employees instead of young, inexperienced employees who will last a minute before they move on! Oy vey I give up, rant over. Ultimately this is a clean, well stocked HEB with plenty of parking a gas station and other services close by. It will be the perfect store for the casual shopper and is 5 star when compared to other HEB locations. I am giving it 4 stars because I am comparing it to how it use to be for the many years I have shopped her. read more

"I'm pretty sure this is the White Person HEB." I said to my boyfriend, as I picked through a very pathetic bin of tomatillos and jalapenos. "Let's go to Fiesta." This is a big HEB. They have pretty much everything you want, as long as you're not making an incredibly ethnic dish (at least Tex-Mex/Mexican). I really don't know what they have against Mexican food ingredients, but I suppose you have to cater to your clientelle and not your employees. My favorite part of the store is the Jelly Belly isle. :) read more

No "track your every purchase" Randalls card required. I HATE (and I am not a hater) those stupid Randalls cards and I purposely NEVER shop there for that reason. It's like - "Hey, unless we can track EVERY item you purchase EVERY time you shop here, we are going to hike the price by 10% - 25% on every item". Sorry, I just ranted. But I LOVE HEB because they provide you the low price without stalking you. I imagine my wife and I go to this HEB location 5 times a week. Its a great store. Lots of fresh produce, good beer and wine selection, and they even bring in fresh made Central Market tortillas every day (until they run out). They also hire our local High School kids. Great prices and a good neighbor. Thanks H-E-B! read more

We really are lucky to have such a great grocery store here in Texas , they have so much to offer ,the HEB product line is exceptional and great value . The instore coupons save me money every time. Great customer service Produce is so fresh and support local farms and ranchs! read more

Don't use HEB - they dropped the mask requirement for shoppers. They just lost me as a customer. Clearly not concerned about the health of their high risk customers. read more

I've shopped at this HEB location quite a few times because I work with a grocery delivery service. They're stocked very well and if you need a minimal grocery shopping experience, they're a great place for it. Unfortunately, they never seem to have many checkout lines open, and the service is subpar. I'm not a picky grocery shopper myself, but I do have to fulfill everything a customer asks for through the grocery delivery service we have. I'm also on a timer so I can't wander the entire store and take my time looking. They're often out of the specific items that I need, and there aren't many people around to help you find it. I found myself repeatedly having to make it all the way to the checkout line to find an HEB associate and ask for help. Then, they'd tell me where it could be. Nonetheless, they were very polite and friendly, up until the end....The lady at the front told me to ask someone in produce to blow up a birthday balloon for us, then when we get there, I couldn't find a single person in produce. I ask the woman at the bakery if there was anyone around to help, and she said to ask "management, who should be at the center of checkout" (aka the lady I just asked). When we asked her for help, she asked someone else to help us, and then both the manager and that person said they didn't know HOW to blow up the balloons. They find a very sweet woman to help us, and we're finally done. When we go to checkout, we get in line and the manager is loudly complaining about us to the woman who blew up our balloon. So anyway, the people here will be sweet to your face and they'll help you, it just takes a lot of effort on your part to get them to help! read more

Somehow in my short month and a half in Austin, I've already been to 6 or 7 H.E.B.s. Perhaps because they are practically on every street corner. But lucky me, I live right next to the best one! And this happens to be. The prices are comparable to Walmart, and I don't mind paying a teeny bit extra to avoid supporting Walmart and their evil ways. If you go in late afternoon/early evening their are TONS of tasting stations set up. And its not just sampling one product full of preservatives and chemicals. Most of the stuff offered for tasting is from a recipe using fresh, simple ingredients. Just in a quick afternoon shopping trip we (my fiance and I) sampled- Herb Olive oil for dipping and bread, some sort of chicken salad w/ crackers, WINE, some sort of spaghetti, cajun nut mix, and a couple other thiings i can't remember b/c the fiance is the adventurous one that usually does all the tasting, oh yea, and did I mention... WINE! They have the recipes of what they are making and give them to you if you want. 5 stars b/c the staff is always helpful and friendly, they have tons of samples, its prices are relatively cheap, and its within walking distance from my apartment. read more

By far the best H-E-B in Austin and I am so glad I live close enough that it's my everyday store as well. The aisles are wide, which is great when weekend traffic abounds here. Everything is usually well-stocked and, on the off chance something is out, there is almost always an associate nearby willing to check the back. It's the associates that really make this store. First off, they always have tons of registers open. Anyone who's ever done late night shopping to get up front and realize there are only two registers open and lines twenty people deep knows how frustrating this is. I work nights so, even when off, I tend to be a late evening shopper. They keep tons of lanes open all night and I rarely have more than one or two people in front of me. Often I can get right in a lane. Not only that, the cashiers are courteous, funny, and always let me know about ways to save money (did you know we have a coupon on this? etc). How many stores can boast that? I can find associates on nearly every aisle always willing to help find things or just give their opinions on products. Then, of course, there is the availability of products. Want Franklin's BBQ sauce? They've got it! Fresh peanut butter? Sure thing! I'm addicted to the honey roasted peanut butter in their bulk foods section now. Their deli selection is great and, if you're looking for something you can just take home, they've got lots of options. My only downside so far has been wine selection. I found the beer I wanted and was impressed with their selection of both local beers and those from lesser known microbreweries. However, I really wanted a sparkling pink moscato the other night and couldn't find any! Normally, I have at least a few to choose from. But I discovered another wine that night, so my search was still fruitful! read more

I often lament the fact that the company that brought us central market can't achieve the same level of produce diversity and freshness in their regular suburban grocery stores. That said, this is my local HEB and I have grown fond of it. The selection of most foodstuffs is solid. They offer lots of samples, particularly in the beer and wine section. The staff is knowledgable and they keep me from falling into a rut with my beer and wine selections. read more

I love that this is my neighborhood grocery store! So many wonderful things to find and discover. Their international food section is the BOMB. Last time I went, I discovered canned bubble tea (previously only found at places like MT supermarket) and clotted cream. Amazing! Their selection of OPI nail polish is also the best I've seen so far - consisting of both a dedicated endcap with the latest releases as well as another section deeper down the aisle. Only one drawback of this location that I've noticed: they don't have prepared food counters anymore. They told me that they used to, but have since stopped. You can still get prepacked dishes and stuff, but no counters of ribs and mashed potatoes. read more

I have to say, for a grocery store, this place is pretty cool. The staff is always friendly, returns are easy, selections are great and food is fresh. I just bought our daughters 1at birthday cake here and they included a free smash cake, really nice that they do that. It was really yummy and we'll designed. I've been coming here for 14 years, can't complain. The parking lot can be crowded but it is what it is, try to come on the less busy hours. The HEB chef creation station is so wonderful, if you get bored of the same stuff to cook, they have great demos and tastings to change your home cooking palette. I'd love to see a military discount offered a few times a month, we're active duty and my husband lives near Ft.Sam Houston for schooling while we live here, so not being near a commissary is hard on us and that extra perk would draw in more military like us more often. read more

Came to HEB this evening and had my grandson and daughter with me. We walked by all the carts, not seeing a fun kids cart... The ones with a racecar top for the little ones... We asked the staff inside where the carts are located, a staff member named AUROD came to our rescue, he offer to go grab us the racecar cart!! Very helpful & great attitude. Thank you Aurod & HEB! read more

Decent, clean HEB. I've never had a bakery refuse to slice bread though. Kinda weird, felt like they were brushing me off.

I hate HEB. Just moved here to Austin and am appalled by the service or lack thereof of the leading grocery store. It seems my options are limited on grocery store selection, maybe that is why they all don't care. Pathetic! read more

Moved here about a year ago and this became our neighborhood heb and we love it! It is always well organized, well stocked, super clean and the employees are always very helpful and friendly :D the bakery also bakes bread several times a day so you're almost always guaranteed fresh bread and garlic bread which we enjoy! read more

This is a solid HEB neighborhood grocery store. It's not the largest, but given its size, it is pretty complete. The quality of the produce is a bit touch and go, however. Sometimes it's fine and sometimes you wonder why the product is out for sale (I'm looking at you, moldy strawberries). The people who work here are helpful and friendly, and the groceries I need day to day are all here, so I am happy to call this my regular HEB. I do wish for a better wine selection and a meals to go section for busy days. However, these are details. For me, my biggest criteria is freshness of produce. read more

We would shop at HEB regardless, as it's 4 minutes from home, but, by our good fortune, this HEB is great. Great prices, great produce, great meat market & deli, great tastings, a good beer selection (plus a terrific Twin Liquors next door). My only complaint is the layout... it seems oddly thought out... plus, I could live without rows of cheap toys adding to the distance from my produce to water. All this, and they bag my groceries. Maybe they do everywhere here(?), but where we moved from it was common to have to bag your own, which I hated. read more

I love my HEB. It is the best one in Austin, seriously. Great selections, awesome cheese and wine section. Modern and clean. Friendly staff, and checkout is super fast at this one! I never wait to check out. I just blow right through. So many open lanes. The pharmacy is nice, and there's a Chase branch inside. Also in its shopping center is a Target, Twin Liquor, pet store, GNC, Starbucks, Austin Pizza, and gas station, so you have pretty much everything you need. read more

I give it a 4 star only because HEB is not much for locations in NE Texas. A good, clean market with just about anything you'd want or need. Good selections, well priced, nice service, clean inside and out. Everyone is super nice and they too are well maintained. Come on HEB! Come on up to NE Texas. We need the break!!! read more

Absolutely hostile to dog owners. I've come in there twice after having direct permission from management to find that some kid is taking my obviously just fine dog from where I tied him up (way away from any customer) with me only being in the store ten minutes. They conveniently claim it's due to trying to make sure my dog had water but if that were really the case they'd be putting a $1 bowl in front of him instead of aggressively taking him away. Or how about buying a dog water station like every other store in Austin has instead of having your cashiers risk injury handling something that could easily kill them if it were any other dog? Crap management who can't communicate to their employees. read more

This is my first time visiting this supermarket chain and I'm impressed. Nicely stocked shelves with a nice variety of brands. I enjoyed that each department is like its own small shop within itself. Everyone there made me feel like this was my hometown neighborhood market. I had a good shopping experience there. read more

Deli completely ignored customer. 5 people there including a manager. No eye contact.

I love this HEB. It's super clean and well stocked. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Some HEBs are not so pleasant and in scary areas, but this one is very safe, I've shopped here after 11pm often and haven't ever had any problems. read more

This is my HEB and it has all I need. The reason for the 3 stars is the lack of baggers. I am so sick of standing in line while the cashier has to stop and bag everyone's groceries (because most people refuse to bag their own groceries). I bag my own, which is annoying since we've gotten so used to having someone else do it for us these days, but I do it to speed up the process. What happened to all your baggers, HEB?? read more

H.E.B. has always fulfilled my expectations and if for some reason they did not I'm certain if given the opportunity they would. A.S. - if you are referring to "cart returns" being the carts in the parking lot - I suggest to do as I do - grab an empty cart on your way in and save them the man power they must charge extra for to gather them. However - with that said - I'll never use an automated check out system because the last thing I want to encourage is such a computer driven society. I'll pay extra for the friendly check out person for sure. read more

Tried Curbside for the first time and it was horrific. The link for your order via email and text does not work. You click on it and it brings you to HEB website, nothing more. It was sprinkling when I pulled up. Wait for it...I saw my groceries being carted out to me in PAPER BAGS! Yes, clearly they saw it was raining and they thought it was smart to load my groceries in paper bags. The website says you wait for someone to come to your window, they tell you if you have replacements, you sign and they load your groceries. The girl never came to my window instead she stood at the back of my car so I got out to help her. Its raining at this point so I am hurrying to load and she is standing there trying to tell me about the ONE replacement I have instead of helping. I grab the first bag and it rips. So I guess I will load the wet groceries on my leather seats and let the frozen food further defrost on my seats as well. I asked for plastic bags as I live on the third floor and she said I got paper bags. Ok so I will just carry my wet groceries individually up 3 flights of stairs. Thanks HEB read more

This may appear to be a harsh review. Don't get me wrong, I like HEB. However, I've protested to the local and the corporate management over this issue with no success. In fact I was treated rudely and they considered my complaint a non issue. HEB sells Golden State motor oil. It is the least expensive motor oil and I know a lot of people buy it without looking at the label. This motor oil is designed for cars made before 1930! That's right, EIGHT-FOUR year old cars and older. Why would a well respected company like HEB deceive their customers this way? Who looks at the fine print on a label? Check it out the next time you are in the store. The warning is tucked away where most people won't look at it! I hope HEB finds another product to sell. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED! read more

After reading some of the poor reviews of this HEB I would love to take those shoppers to the world most of us in the Midwest live in. No fresh fish, at least that is fit to eat. Produce that is many times already rotten, no variety in anything. The motto is "if we don't have it you don't need it" And then I walk into an HEB in Austin with my Daughter-in-law and think I am in heaven. The quality and variety of produce is wonderful. Staff is smiling and they know my Grandkids names. Fresh fish that does not stink! Wow. Products on the shelves I have never seen. I am in awe. If I had a grocery like this in Missouri I would cook fresh vegs and fruits daily, my life would be so much better. I love this place. I just wander around smiling to myself thinking, if only I could take this home. I would never set foot in a Wal-Mart again as long as I live. And when my little Granddaughter had a seizure in the store, staff came from all over to help us and were so kind and concerned. I love HEB! How lucky you are to have this, I drive 50 miles just to get organic produce and it is pitiful. read more
